I get the feeling that gene alterations had limits as well.
Technology in the Star Wars universe is very bizarrely limited in many areas. Like for example, every civilization should have the technology to build a Dyson Swarm, yet not a single one has, even though it is such a logical thing to do and by far the easiest way of obtaining large amounts of energy. Any solar system with one could build multiple lasers as powerful as the Death Star, and it wouldn't even be a challenge with the amount of power obtained from a star.
They don't seem to use any artificial intelligence either, at least not usefully, and I'm not talking about creating sentience, I'm just talking about simple machine learning that could easily replace probably 99% of all jobs in the galaxy, instead they use their most advanced AIs in stupid robots that can barely do their job, I mean seriously, the CIS used battle droids as spaceship pilots, why the fuck do they even need physical droids piloting starships, using their badly built limbs to manipulate controls, when you could just stick a usb plug in the ship's computer and make it a billion times more capable than any human pilot, and this being with just simple machine learning, not even anything closely resembling sentience, like all droids seem to have. They used freaking people and droids to build the Death Star for decades, when they could've just built a single self replicating space probe with very simple AI, launched it into an asteroid belt, and have a few hundred Death Stars built during the same time.
And don't get me started on their medicine. How the hell is everyone still mortal? We're almost beginning to understand how to slow down aging with current technology, and soon we'll be able to stop it entirely, probably in 100 years at most, it's certainly a lot easier than making you grow gills to live in the ocean (which will also eventually be possible). Yet they can travel through the entire galaxy faster than light but can't save a pregnant woman because she "lost the will to live"? You just can't think of Star Wars as sci fi, it's just plain fantasy.
@@TheAsj97 With the CSI I doubt Palpatine would allow them to do anything deemed dangerous to his plans. Battle droids would eventually put the CSI in debt, making a Republic victory easier.

'Perfectionists' that never bothered to actually adapt to their planet, limited their improvement to only the realms of biology despite being in a galaxy with fantastic machine technology. Sure, if you want perfection, sure, you improve your genes, but why would you stop there? Biology can only do so much. There are other branches of science and engineering that far surpass the limits of biology to explore.

Given that perfection doesn't actually exist, perfectionism is largely just what you deem to be 'perfection'. With that said, perfectionists almost always get themselves obsessively stuck to one or several areas, to the utter refusal of considering any options available, so i would say that the Kaminoans are indeed perfectionists, albeit not so much in a practical manner. In a bid to preserve the FORM of their culture & civilization, they've pretty much effectively killed the SPIRIT of it all.

Nice video! To me, the Kaminoans illustrate what science for the sake of science without moral guidance can lead... A species of biological robots. Narrowminded and too limited to be able to recognize the flaws in themselves. It may take long but this usually does not end well.

Ice is less dense than water, meaning that there would have had to have been enormous glaciers covering the entire planet, for it to have become covered by water. Even then the water levels would be shallow at some places. So no sprawling grass planes for kamino.
You could have an undercrust ocean situation like I've seen theorized about earth. The water essentially breaks out adding to the surface ocean flooding the planet.
Or maybe there is another layer of non-water liquid in the ocean that is denser than water and also denser in it's solid form than it's liquid form.
Ice, being solid and all, can exist above sea level.
All you'd need would be less volcanism and plate techtonics. Much smoother planet, much less land above sea-level.
If they're so concerned about perfection what do they have such long necks? I can see a lot of problems popping up making then selves vulnerable in combat, not to mention how difficult it is to pump blood up to their heads

According to ufology some people like Credo Mutwa have seen tall versions of the men in black little greys. The thought is that the tall greys are either higher status or even the actual sentience behind the little greys, and that the little greys are remote controlled avatars. Also to note is that a lot of ufo abductee stories include being poked, prodded, examined, even experimented on by greys on a table in a lab/ER room-like setting in various intrusive manners and that they are likely the less compassionate of the alien races. Therefore the "lacking moral compass, apathetic, geneticist" connection with the Kaminoans. Just seeing your video just struck me that the Kaminoans are actually just like tall greys. I've always felt like there was a sinister something behind the Kaminoans I just couldn't put my finger on. Must be those distant, chilling eyes. Am just getting deeper into Star Wars lore thanks to CZcams channels like yours and have been wondering about the background of the Kaminoans ever since I saw the second movie. Although Texas isn't landlocked I live in the middle of it and the ocean is at least a 6 hour drive away from where I live and we hardly get any storms here. That contrasts with my love of the ocean and storms.

Listening to the history and culture of the Kaminoans to some extent reminds me of the Tleilaxu from the Dune universe. Like the Kaminoans they were masters of genetic engineering, creating high quality meats for the nobles to dine on, 'Gholas' which are a kind of clone that possesses the memories of its template (that is also how they perpetuate their own existence, through gholas of themselves), 'Twisted' Mentats such as Piter de Vries and eventually they even managed to synthesize the Spice Melange, breaking the monopoly the planet Arrakis has on its production.
Their work on genetics is at the core of their religious beliefs and they are all quite devout, and they view everyone else in the universe with a certain degree of contempt, even as they sell their creations to them.
Star Wars has many parallels or inspirations from Dune

I'm dying to know what kamino looks like underwater. One of the moodiest planets. One of the coolest. Whenever a storm is raging outside I play the part of the clone wars OST where Obi Wan goes to Kamino and imagine I'm there.
Its the Star Wars version of Atlantis. An amazing technology advanced city buried under the sea.

I like that they clearly took inspiration from the Greys. Not just in looks, but in that the Greys are usually depicted as very interested in biology, creating hybrids and dissecting cattle, while supposedly being very cold and clinical about it.
My mannerisms are crass and my pocketbook is small so we would not get on.
They embody the sinister creepiness of eugenics. Their hatred of Green eyes is unforgivablr.
