    Specific Alcohol Ink Brushes Used:
    - Color Changing 3
    - Hair Dryer 1
    - Heavy Bleed Blender
    - Smoky
    - Spray Blender
    - Color Splatter
    - Circle Dropper
    - Blended Brushstroke
    - Foil Liner
    - Metallic Ink Splatter
    - Ultra Fine Glitter
    With color changing brushes, you can select your primary color and secondary color, then vary the tilt of your pencil to influence what colors come out, using a fair amount of pressure. I love the color changing brushes, it's such an effortless way to add visual interest to your piece. This brush set includes many blender brushes, which do not add color but instead they manipulate the color that is already on the page. Any time you'd like to soften an edge or slightly change up the look in an alcohol ink piece, these are a great option.
    With an alcohol ink piece, I like to allow the lines to tell the story. I select a brush like my Blended Brushstroke, and make some lines along the general edges of the shape I am creating, highlighting the direction and flow of the piece.
    I almost always will add a metallic to my alcohol ink. As always, metallics will go on their own separate layer to preserve their sparkle and shine. For this piece, I'm choosing to follow the lines that I've already created to add that special something along the structure. I like to concentrate on just a few areas - taking care not to overdo it!

    Thanks for revisiting these brushes. I was just watching a video about white space in mixed media, so this is a nice compliment to that; there’s something to be said for that emptiness and how it really drives the eye to the area of interest.

    I’ve been watching more of your videos so I see your brushes are actually artistic-like & not every brush is just a premade design or whatever. I’m hesitant to buy another set but yours so look great that I’m about to but I thought I’d ask if you had like free example brush by chance? Like not a stamp brush.. I’m a little sick of stamp brushes😂, I can make my own at home with my actual alcohol ink Lol. I’ve bought a couple alcohol ink sets and downloaded a couple free ones and with a few of them I ask myself if they’ve even ever used alcohol ink 🤦‍♀️ My lesson has been- you get what you pay for! Some of the sets had a few good brushes but yours look of a different caliber so im leaning toward purchasing, they’re just a little pricier so i wanted to ask in case you did have a free example brush then I’d feel even more confident in buying but if not, I totally understand and probably will still buy. Anyway, thanks for these videos! ❤

    Love the video, i bought the brushes. I was thinking of making a big print (say 36*24 inch). Is there a maximum brush size beyond which brush strokes start to look pixelated?

    • @AlainaJensen
      @AlainaJensen  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks so much Nick! I've set the max size of the brushes so that they will not come out pixelated when the size slider is set all the way up. This results in the brushes looking smaller when your procreate document is set to a large size, but this is also true to reality in that you probably would not be pouring the ink with a huge bucket in real life. The main thing to be aware of is that if you create artwork on a small size canvas in procreate and then blow the image up bigger for printing, it will result in pixelation no matter what brushes you use because it will be putting extra pixels into the same image. So the most important thing to do is to start out with a canvas that is the size you want to print, or as close to it as you can get in Procreate.

    hello alaina, i bought your amazing brushes. I then tried to rework the tutorial here. Unfortunately, the first brush "color changing number three" doesn't work for me like it did in the video. your color is so beautifully dark and strong. if i apply more pressure, my brush stroke just gets much thicker. but my color doesn't get dark. can you tell me what i'm doing wrong? Thanks Sandra

    • @AlainaJensen
      @AlainaJensen  Před 2 lety

      Hi Sandra! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. Did you use the same purple color as I did in the video? If you're choosing a lighter or less saturated (more grey) color, that might be the issue. The way procreate brushes work, the darkest part of the texture reflects the chosen color whereas the rest of the texture will be a lighter version of that color, so with brushes like these it's a good idea to choose a darker color. You can also turn up the saturation of any color by going to the "value" tab on the color palette, and increasing the "S" slider. I hope this helps, otherwise you're very welcome to send me an email at hello@alainajensen.com and we can troubleshoot further!

    Hi, can you do more digital alcohol ink tutorial videos on procreate? I am new in digital alcohol ink and want to learn more techniques about it and especially with your brushes because I want to buy your alcohol ink brushes so it’s easier to learn new techniques from the brushes that I will have which will be probably yours but I wish you would create move tutorials!
    Also, I’m new in procreate so I was wondering if I can use any brushes and Color palettes that I have previously even if they are not alcohol inks in combination with your brushes or each person who sells procreate brushes; we can only use 1 particular brush set for a special artwork? And can’t combine them? Or your alcohol ink brushes and Color palettes in combination with previous alcohol ink brushes and Color palettes that I bought from other people? Sorry; I hope I explained this ok, I don’t understand it myself so I hope you understood what I meant? Lol 😊

      Hi Nikki, thanks so much for your message! I've got a whole playlist of videos using the alcohol ink brushes, there are currently 29 videos in the playlist: czcams.com/play/PLHUwaphNwGmiHiG5S2ynRJ33YG8SLibkD.html
      You are absolutely welcome to use any brushes or any color palettes in combination with each other, there is no limitation! In my own videos I use my brushes because those are the ones I have, but you might have something different and you can always adapt to using whatever brushes you have on hand, it just might take a bit of time to pause the video and experiment a bit with the brushes you have to see what looks the most similar to what I'm using, or otherwise take it in a different direction than what I'm doing if that is what you feel like.
      I always encourage people to own the process - you can do whatever suits you best in your own artwork and adapt the process to suit your own style and what you have on hand. My tutorials are only suggestions and a starting point to help you develop your own style of art and interpret it in a way that you like best.
      I hope that makes sense!

      @@AlainaJensen Hi Alaina, thank you; I will definitely check out your playlist! but out of curiosity; will you add or update more alcohol ink tutorials to your playlist?
      Also, I would like to purchase your alcohol ink brushes and Color palates but I was wondering; if they are a complete set? I mean, If I purchase your alcohol ink brushes and Color palates; is it necessary for me to purchase other alcohol ink brushes and Color palates from other people or yours is a complete set and I can create unlimited style of creative alcohol ink arts?
      And one final thing … when I said combining different brushes; I didn’t mean only different alcohol ink brushes from different people but I meant; is it possible to combine alcohol ink brushes with other mediums such as watercolour, acrylic pouring, or combining any other brushes or Color palettes in general with alcohol inks?
      Thanks again :)

      @@SuperNikki1987 Yes I will probably keep adding tutorials to my alcohol ink playlist as I've been doing - I love the brushes personally so usually end up coming back to them! There are not currently any alcohol ink tutorials in the queue but I might add 1-3 more at some point during this year.
      Yes my alcohol ink set is a complete set - they are intended to have all the brushes you will need to create unlimited digital alcohol ink artwork, you will also need the Procreate iPad app to install the brushes in, and an apple pencil to get the best out of the pressure sensitivity of the brushes.
      Yes you are very welcome to combine different brushes, styles, colors, whatever you like! That part is completely up to you.
      I hope this helps!
