Bro when you removed the oil filter without getting a drop of oil on your hands I was truly impressed lmao.
Another banger
Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye boi
I pull a vacuum on the fill tube and never get oil going all over the place. Just use a remote to start and stop the vacuum.
1. Turn the vacuum on, take out the drain plug.
2. Turn off vacuum with catch container in place. I use a 5 gallon bucket with a plastic trash bag inside ( makes clean up a snap ).
3. Replace drain plug. Turn vacuum on.
4.Poke a hole in the bottom of the filter with a catch can in place. Turn vacuum off.
5. Grease the chassis.
6. Remove oil filter. Clean the mating surface.
6. Use engraver to mark the filter with mileage, date and oil type. Lube o-ring and partially fill filter and install.
7. Refill oil and check. Start engine, reset oil life. Stop engine and recheck oil level.
Gussssss where r u
I love the instructional videos bro! You also take care of these trucks like their your own đđ
I do!!!!!
Just got a used 6.7 and the hardest thing for me being old and arthritis in hands, is grip to undo bolts n filter. Process seems straight forward. Thank you for teaching old ladies new tricks. I have owned and operated all the way up to 10 speed tractor trailers otr, but always had others do maintenance. Now as about to roam free, pray to do basics as needed on my own. Crazy, Right? Lol. Peace.
Great video and tips. Iâve done hundreds of oil changes, but that diesel engine oil is straight outta La Brea. Anything one can do to avoid spilling it is worth it.
Thank you! I have a 2017 6.7 power stroke Iâm going to be doing an oil change for and this seems super straight forward! Iâve done oil changes on gas engines before, and the little tips and tricks you provided were awesome!
Thank u sir
Thank you! We just purchased a "new to us" 2015 F250 SuperDuty and I like to do all the maintenance on our vehicles myself since we can't find anyone around anymore who is reliable. I am enjoying all your videos so far. Thank your again as I learn about this new truck and engine. Your instructions are clear and your camera work is clear and well angled!

No doubt you take pride in your job very respectable thanks for sharing
Thanks so much
I added a Fumoto F106 6.7L oil drain to make it more controllable to drain the oil while Iâm on my back. Comes with a 3/8â clear hose that connects to the valve and runs into your oil pan. Better than staining my garage floor and arm with dirty oil.
Always a pleasure to watch Super Duties getting love.
My pleasure
Great job. I appreciate the effort you make to ensure the oil filter doesnât have oil leaking down the side. Iâve had my own 6.7 Ford returned from a dealer oil change, leaking. I hate looking in through the side and seeing the dirty oil on the white filter. Few techs would bother. Does look like the brake clean just about removed the Motorcraft logo though! I use the same exact oil drain pan. Changing oil is strangely satisfying to me.
Haha i see that so mannnny times....filters just covered in crud
Always make sure the oil filter gaskets stayed attached to the filter. It's easy to miss that and have 2 gaskets stacked up.
Yes that will happen. Happened to me once.
LOL... Yeah it sucks when you try and try and try and try to get the oil filter on...can't figure out why it won't catch... Only to realize the old rubber is still on. I'm commenting for a friend... :)
i changed my oil today and that happened to me. i only noticed because the filter wasn't flush.
Been there done that !!
I always make sure thereâs at least 4
Something I do sometimes when the filter is going to make a mess is use a sharp center punch and punch a hole in the oil filter before you remove it. Let some of the oil drain out in a small stream before it makes a big mess.
I do the same but always make sure it breaks loose first.
Love your attention to detail. To me that puts you on top!
Thanks a milli my man
this is the cleanest oil change that i've ever seen.. nice .. đđ
You should see the resta our work đŻ
wow, i'd say you are a Master mechanic, very clean, and detail orientated. Nice work.
Thnk u sir
Good video. I have a 2000 7.3 with 145,000 miles. I wish my filter was that easy to get to. Keepm coming.
Lolololol
Thank you, for the video. That is a lot of brake clean. Haha. I really like what you post. You should make some videos about doing mods to the trucks? As a 6.7 owner, it is nice to know issues your run into and how you go about repairs. My truck is getting up there in mileage 165k. Thank, thank , thank you
I love the exxon valdez quoteđ€Łđ€Ł
We use that term in my diesel classes.
Hahahahaha don't be a spillling
That was a nice trick with changing out the oil filter without spilling a drop.
Not a drip!
on my F250 what i use is a 5 gallon bucket that i buy from walmart. its $2.99 and its MADE IN THE USA. It stands up about 19 inches and i use it to collect the oil. I drive my truck a few miles to get it up to operating temp and I use my dash engine oil display to tell me when its hot enough. I think you get more contaminants and more old oil out when you do this versus cold oil like what you do. I do also make sure I let the truck sit for a good while to cool down so it doesnt make my plastic bucket super soft, but even still its hot enough or warm enough where it will flow out like water and bring the contaminants with it. I really like the height of the 5 gallon bucket. Makes for easy and clean jobs. I have a dedicated bucket for engine oil with a lid and keep it in a garbage bag, inside a cardboard box, and place it back on the shelf the next time. I take it to my county dump or a local business who has an oil heater in their shop, and they accept it for free. It never leaves the 5 gal bucket and never have to pour it in something else. I like my bucket and thats what I wanted to share lol
Dude, thanks for sharing & keepin' it đŻ
As I have installed an Amsoil dual remote system my change is slightly modified. Oil quantity increased also. Still love watching and listening to your videos! I do also have the Fumoto drain valve!
Thanks appreciate it
So how often do you change your oil and what kind of oil do you use?
From the 6.9 & 7.3 days I have a tapered punch that I knock a hole in the bottom of the filter after I break it loose. Then the filter can drain and not puke all over you.
Lololololol
@@michaelbenoit248 I wouldn't waste the money on a coolant filter setup. The oil cooler tubes are huge in comparison to newer truck that tend to clog. Just service the coolant. For the cooler, I would also pickup the 4 large o-ring seals and reseal the entire assembly.
@@Itsa_Mea is the cooler a radiator? If so, those are tiny and clog easily. Not the tubes i think. Either way, safe travels!
Back to the basics
I like it Arod
Thanks buddy!!!!! đđ
I installed a fumoto drain valve so you can drain oil and filter into the same pan. The oil pan does drain slower but I have time to let it drain. But great video as per usual.
Thanks mister Brad!!
Another great video! Always look forward to Friday evenings. :-) It would be cool to hear your thoughts on tuning sometime on these 6.7s.
Email me!
One thing I do is put the date on my oil filter with a sharpie. I have a 2016 6.7. Love the truck. Awesome engine. I only have 38,000 miles so she only gets a oil change once a year. Keep up the good videosđ
Thanks Alfred!!
Alfred Riley I use an electric engraver on the filter, plus the mileage.
Wow that is awesome accessibility. My buddy says he has to remove his passenger wheel and well liner to get to his filter on his 6.7 cummins
Thanks! I did my first oil change today..didn't think I could do it and your video made it easy...next time will be even easier. But I will need a mid summer appointment to get all my aftermarket filters done by you pls.
I gotchu good buddy
I just did both fuel filters today. It's just as easy as the oil change.
Very knowledgeable input thank you đ
The attention to detail for just an oil change is outstanding. I would be comfortable having you do any work on my truck.
I have em come from all over the USA for me, PTT to fix their rigs!
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod shoot I might be the next one to drive across the USA if I need more work done!
Do you have a video showing the process for replacing the injector to valve cover grommet? I think I have a slow seep coming from there on either cylinder 1 or 2.
Shoooooooooot. Go to my 6.7 oil leak playlist. Its there! Email me if ya wanna get inline. Do you know about my kill switch kit??. EMAIL ME
In depth. Great video
Thank u so much
I ave noticed the canister does hold waste oil and a lot of guys think they have a faulty filter that won't seal.
Good tip with the cleaner and blow gun.
I also grease what I believe may be the only fittings on the whole truck, if it's a four wheel drive.
The front axle U joints still have Zircs, thank goodness.
Can you tell me if the driveshaft splines have a recommended clean and re lube?
Could have sworn I read one time that Ford had some kind of special grease recommendation just for that.
Thank you for the video's.
Well done!
Niceeeeeeeee Video, Smooth what i have to say.
I appreciate the video.
You're awesome!!
TYVM love your videos!
TU!
Think it might need a lower pan soon with that bolt missing, i usually punch a hole in the bottom of the filter, and break it loose ever so gingerly and it never gets on me.
Another a+ video. The extra at the end sets you apart from the wannabes. Keep up the excellent vids. Oh by the way how do we get them fancy stickers??
Got NEWER ones....email me!!!
All good advice. If you're on you parking pad, outdoors, the breeze will blow that oil all over the place...
Block it off with a make shift wall of card board
Why canât all techs be this clean and thorough. Ford dealership I used to take mine to tried to get me to pay for stuff that had already been done. They did not look at the parts, they just looked at a computer screen of when the pickup was last in their shop.
Unacceptable
Have you done any Radius arm bushings when you get one show us how, Hey everyone started with that Tri axle Mobile you do great videos Bro Keep them coming when i have time i get to watch the videos.
No i haven't my man, ill let ya know

Good video. I like your attention to detail. Not many people take pride in their work anymore
I do with every job! IT IS A MUST or go home....đâđ€đ
Video's are great , never put any time lapse with horrible computer generated noise/music and its all good man.
2018 6.7 with what I this is rear main seal or upper oil pan leak from them changing to the silicon.. any why I can tell for sure. love your channel man so much help keep it up.
Watch my upper oil pan & rear crank seal videos...
I like cutting the wheels left and squeeze my arm in behind the wheel. That way I don't have to try and barely squeeze in the creeper, especially in those hot trucks where you burn yourself on the trans pan/exhaust!
Nice!!!
Iâve been a subscriber for a little while now. I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming đ. ? Is there any real difference in changing out a 2002 F250 super duty block heater than say a 05 F550 turbo diesel?
Is same concept just different location
Saw that pan missing a bolt and I thought well at least I'm not the only one đ he's lucky tho mine is leaking out of that spot
I know right
Enjoy all the detail you go into on your videos eg wrench sizes needed what is needed to do the job. Saves from making trips up and down. 6:58
Great attention to detail. I still can't believe you had no oil on you after spinning the filter off.
Geeeeeeeee, đ
Nice video I wish I had see your video before doing my oil change. I did tight the filter with a socket and a 3/8 ratchet that you put at the bottom of the filter, and I tight it a bit strong I thing, do you thing it is easy to brake the treads on the rod where you screew your filter? I tight it down until the filter dont turn anymore. I feel scare a little bit, I wish the treads are solid. Thanks for your comment so you can help me sleep better :)
Great video, can you do another when the truck is warm? Also do you recommend having the oil cap off to speed up oil drain? Thanks.
Cap doesnt matter
All I can say is Fumoto valve. Change my oil changing experience
I put a vacuum on my oil fill tube, place the drain pan ( I use a 5 gallon bucket ) under the drain. Take the drain plug out, no oil will come out. Remove the vacuum and let the oil flow.
đ€·ââïž
What's the whining sound the 6.7 makes at idle when around 195-200 degrees? Mine used do it all the time until I started putting Rotella T6 5w-40 and Hotshot stiction in it, now it only does it every once in a while. My dad has the exact same truck and his will do it, I have also heard others doing it at the gas station. It comes from the passenger side of the motor. Thanks for all your videos, extremely helpful.
Thx bro
Love it. Now all you need to do is show an instructional video for owner how to clean console. đ
Man wish you was my diesel tech. my dealership left my windshield wiper fill open and left my oil cap on my battery drove home and smelt oil through the ac vents somehow it didnt fall. Have 52k on my 2018 6.7 and tow everyday going strong with no issues.
Damn man that sucks. Good to hear she runnin strong. Wish i was ur tech tooo! đ€đ
Really wish i had seen this video before changing my oil the for its first change. The oil catch pan was large enough but the oil was warm, not hot, came out like a fire-hose. Then the catch bin for what ever reason did not keep up with the oil its one of those you can close up and take to a shop to dump... Last top of the oil filter dripped for 1.5 days... i finally cleaned it after figuring out what the issue was... Oh yeah and the stain in the driveway... yeah its new... but i was able to get lots of it up... still need to do more though... Thanks for the video... i wish i had seen it first... Damn it ARod where were you.... Oh yeah i was watching the mod vids... finally gt to this one... At least i have some new tails and a safe...
Thanks for stopping thru bud
I always poke a hole in the bottom of my filters and drain them first then take it off. No mess every time no matter what. Takes a half a seceond. Just a tip if you never heard that one before.
Yea, i not doin dat đ€·ââïž
I do that as well on anything that I do. I noticed on my 6.7 that I let the filter sit and drain for quite awhile and it just never seemed to quit. I spun it off a thread to let some air past the seal and it instantly made a mess. This was all while it was hot. I never had that problem with my 7.3.
So New Super Duty Diesel 6.7 Owner, getting a 2022 never owned a diesel before, but drive bus for work, but still newbie SO my question is, what is the best brand of Oil and and filters to use, also fuel filters, I have heard Shell Rotella is the best, I want to maintain and look after this vehicle as hopefully this will be my last vehicle,, any information is greatly appreciated,,,thank you and love your vids, very detailed, and easy to follow, just wish I had a hoist lolol,,,,thank you again,,
Rotella is good stuff. Ford will tell you Motorcraft only.
I run castrol usually.
The correct oil is more important than the brand. Although walmart and amazon oil apparently meets the specs.. I wouldn't use them. Dont put small engine oil in your diesel.
What do you use to spray the battery terminals with?
I just drain the oil into one pan, wait for it to stop then slide it over to the filter. I've never had to use 2 pans. Never tug on the plug like that, eventually it could strip. Just snug it.. And never use a wrench to tighten the filter, it should only be used to remove it. Just hand tight.
I use waste oil to wipe down oil pan and trans lines, lots of salt in new England
Love the videos. I use a 5 gallon bucket for the oil pan, and an oil drain pan for the filter. Never spill a drop. Punch the old filter to drain for a few before I drop it since Iâm diy and in no time crunch. Also, I wipe down the filter housing after I let it drain to get the oil off of it. Also ensures the old gasket didnât get stuck there to cause a leak when I replace the filter. I saw a video from adept ape saying prefilling the oil filter isnât necessary, so I donât do it. Never had a problem. Thoughts on that?
......would you replace both your fuel filters, then start the truck and drive away without priming the system......đ€đ€
Good food for thought.....
Just sayin...
Just got my first diesel it's a 2015 f350 thank you for the video I don't know if I caught what kind of oil you use, was wondering what you recommend. Thank you happy Easter and have an awesome day!!!
Hey pal, welcome. Same to you. I am a full sym 10w30 kinda guy
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod awesome thank you brother, so don't need Rotella or anything special?
@aheis1313 I mean u can use that...
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod nope I'll go with what you recommend you're honesty and integrity are awesome just heard different folks saying use Rotella only. Thank you for your time and wisdom much appreciated!
Hello - I did exactly as you did - Drained when it was warm added the 13 quarts and my dipstick reads high no matter if the engine is cold, warm or hot - Should I re-do and drain the oil pan after the truck has sat overnight? would that remove more oil - For some reason I have to much oil after adding the 13 - Thanks
@powerstroke tech talk is it better to drain oil when warm or cold?
For the oil filter I use a punch to drain the oil.
Thomas Burke yeah me to ,I use an railroad spikeđ
Many people and mechanics dont know the door sticker exists.
Use the correct tires and pressure per the oem and tires will last a long time.
Good Job!
On another topic, P132B, what can you tell me about this?
Thats its probably gonna b turbo time....
Great video, only thing I would add is checking brake fluid and topping off as needed.
Checking, why would you be topping...brake fluid should NEVER be topped off unless the system is open.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARodold school father thought me that as the brake pads start to wear, the fluid level will go down. And to always keep it near the full line.
......so now you do brakes & push the pistons back in & ALL the brake fluid is NOW gonna push out all over the place. Its suppose to go low. If you had a leak you wld have NO brakes
Just watching some vidsâŠ.. I would love to get some Motorcraft oil change stickers. đđŒ
I got chuuuuuuu
1:54 mark freeze screen and tell me this I have a 2016 F350 6.7. That one bolt above the drain plug on the right side has so much soot that appears to be a leak. Im talking about the horizontal bolt not the vertical pan. bolts The vehicle has only 22k mileage wise. Im a tad disappointed . I know trucks leak but at 22k? That cant be normal. Any thoughts or am I being picky. The truck hasnt had any strain its practically a daily driver to and fro work. All changes tho Ive only had 2 or 3 regarding oil and that was done by the dealer. Thoughts? Or am I being picky because this truck is barely broken in mileage wise. Every other area is dry or stain free.
Edit: that last part about brakleen and blowing the filter makes me think u work at my dealer because my filter is spotless after thousands of miles besides what I stated above on the housing bolt!!
Sry pal
What are your thoughts on the Amsoil bypass filter setup bmk 28 on a 21 6.7 Powerstroke? What are the factory oil pressures at idle and 1500rpm. My concern is the 1/2" ID hose with the kit is too small and will reduce flow considerably. Amsoil says the system is designed for 10gpm flow. That seems crazy low. The 6.7 Cummins flows 16-20gpm a 30-45psi. Will the BMK 28 reduce oil volume and or pressure to and from the main filter?
I had 1 they sent me but decided not to install it.
Good video. Changing oil cold? Is that okay, I always thought it was recommended for the oil to be hot when changing?
Cold, means it's ALLLLLLL in the sump. Just takes longer but it's all been drained down
Total qts would be 13.5?
ARod, like your videoâs. Notice you didnât tighten the filter per your comment, but what appeared to be snug tightness. Was it tightened more off camera?
Yes it was in fact!!!

Great idea!
On 6.7l diesel why would you have to prime the oil filter? I never have on any of my powerstrokes going back to the 7.3 and 6.0l. Thanks in advance
Coffee can filters ALWAYZ get pre filled...fuel/oil etc..
How do you get the DIC to show the exhaust filter percent? Have a 15 with the upgraded dash and that's not an option.
Gotta hse a scan tool
@power stroke tech talk do you recommend the fumoto oil drain plug or any other plug?
Sure those are ok
I use my 2016 F350 for towing my travel trailer and boat and only put on about 3000 miles a year. How often should I be changing the oil and filters? Thanks
