I'm glad Cody and Emma are out of the DoF home. As for CZcams and its advertisers, I just want them to stop making VetRanch censor their content to stay afloat. Its an educational channel with surgery footage. Often they say and show warnings before showing any gore and its not fair to intervene on content that is posted for learning.

I am sorry if I seem harsh but after what those kids have been through I a) don't believe that those two people who were not acting properly as parents but as immature bullies deserve to have kids under their care unless some intense rehabilitation and deep realisations are met... and b) am very glad the mother got to have some kind of contact and reconnect with her kids. This whole thing is a disgrace and anyone supporting this channel simply astounds me. All I have done on some viewing of their content was cry. When you child is in tears telling you they are sick of being put through stuff for a "stupid prank" and they behave more like an adult, there is a big big problem.

Two things I RESPECT about Phil are:
1. He is one of the few bastions of common sense that presents both sides to each story.
2. You can actually see him restraining himself from swearing, or possibly far worse, when talking about paedophilia or child abuse stories.
Hats off to this guy for everything he does and stands for!

@AFINO that scares me too, but the on-demand culture is here to stay. I watch alot of Gaming content and I don't see Cable Tv stepping into that world. The next generation, Generation Z, are super into video game culture so it will take alot to make them watch bullshit shows made by NBC and ABC. There is also Netflix, which is absolutely shredding Cable shows right now. I am feeling a little more optimistic to be honest. I could be wrong though :P

I think this idea of bringing in mainstream stars is a bad idea, CZcams has always been a platform for up and coming creators, people nobody has ever heard of but who have the opportunity to make a name for themselves by producing content that speaks directly to their audience. One of the reasons we love CZcams is because so many of the creators are just common people, like us. With the inclusion of A list prime time superstars, however, we put all of that in danger. How does the newly arrived creator who wants to make a talk show series, for example, compete with someone like Ellen Degeneres? How do they not have their channel and dreams squashed by the fact that no one is going to choose them over Ryan Seacrest? I feel like this is a betrayal of everything CZcams stands for (stood for).
Agreed! I was confused as to why James Corden was given a diamond play button. I thought YT milestone awards were specifically for creators. James Corden is not a YT creator. Are YT going to just dish out milestone awards to just anyone now?!?!
This is why they have more experienced CZcamsrs sharing the same platform with those big names. Like Philip himself said, every time YT has done similar stuff, the ones that thrive the most from it are the actual CZcamsrs. I personally think it's a fantastic strategy because you'll bring in people who initially came for one thing, but stayed for another.
Maehedrose if people want to watch celebrities they will watch celebrities but now if you out the celebrities on CZcams you are bringing a new audience to the platform of people who may have never touched the site and if youtube uses suggestions right and suggests youtubers next to celebrities it will benefit everyone

I'm pumped you're back Philly, and am excited for the future of your brand and what you and the crew are soon to accomplish. In my opinion I honestly think that CZcams is going to make changes to bring back the the heart of the platform that was able to bring in people like me and the countless others who watch videos to escape from the stress and hardships that many of us experience on a daily basis. Right now I'm not holding my breath, but hearing what the CEO said does give me hope that their will be change in the near future. Although, we do have to keep in mind is that they are a global brand and they must innovate in order to keep a competitive edge in their market. With all that in mind I'm just a college kid who likes to watch these videos but as content creator I wanna know what is your honest opinion on the future of this platform? Do you think CZcams will be able to implement these new styles of shows while allowing creators to to maintain their livelihood or will these changes lead to the "new CZcams" era?

There should be certain ads for non-family friendly videos and different ads for family friendly videos, such as non-family friendly videos will have beer and video game ads and family friendly videos will have Disney ads

What you're effectively talking about is targeted advertising. This isn't really a thing on youtube (given that they do it on google) and I'm still baffled that they don't do it to the same extent

Hey Phil this might be my first, or one of the first youtube comments I've ever made but I wanted to say thank you. I've been on your channel since I was maybe 12 when you that dumb earring and the great sxephil intro. I want to thank you for consistently giving me great, generally unbiased news. In an age where there is so much uncertainty and ambiguity in regards to news outlets and sources, you provide the much needed service of factual news that is fun to watch at the same time. You do the internet and society a valuable service and I think everyone should take 10-15 minutes out of your day to watch your show.

Why are advertisers showing this feeling towards CZcams videos? I think they just used pewdiepie as a scapegoat to get out of CZcams for other reasons and a bigger hand may be at play. Small channels like mine will now never be able to come up with the new algorithm.

The brands reflexively cringed and pulled their advertising until CZcams promised everything was squeaky clean. The WSJ did the same to #PewDiePieDidNothingWrong and NYT is following their lead. Print media is dying, losing subs, and not attracting young readers. Their audience is literally on life support. It's old media attacking the new. They want to demonetize alternative media.

CZcamsrs don't need to be "legitimized". They've been breaking down barriers in every category imaginable. Sometimes I don't understand why YT (read Google) wants to choke off youtubers in favor of advertising dollars. Without the content creators, there is NO advertising dollars coming in but there was plenty of content before advertising came into the game.

Hey Phil!!! I am glad that you are back after a week hiatus. I do want to say that you saved the two DO5 children. You were among the first people, with the help of Nick Monroe, to have this story get mass attention and have CPS involved and the biological mother getting emergency custody. I'm only 21 and I do want to use as an example of what not to do when I have a wife and family. I don't want my child/children getting physically, verbally and emotionally abused by me, I just want him/her/them to know what they did is wrong and they have to learn their mistakes and everything will go back to normal
I still find it a bit hurtful that here they are apologizing to companies at a huge event, but youtube has almost never apologized for all the times they've screwed over creators. False DMCAs, demonetizing videos without telling creators, deleting channels for seemingly no reason, and the complete disenfranchisement of the lipsync and animation communities over the years. The only time I can think of where youtube apologized to creators was with the LGBT safe mode issue. And while that's a step in the right direction, it sends a strange message that the second they did something to upset companies they jump up and apologize while it took them years to ever acknowledge any wrongdoing to the creators who deliver the ads to the viewers.

As a small creator on CZcams I can say that the "adpocalypse" scares the crap out of me. My ad rev is still only a fraction of what it should be. I really hope they fix this soon... for everyone, not just the biggest CZcamsrs.

My idea for a better advertising system would be this:
Channel creators can choose from a number of tags when uploading a video which show the genre(s) their video falls under, whether it contains controversial content, and more importantly what the recommended age group of the audience would be. Additionally, they can set a base setting for their channel to apply this rating system to their previously existing videos as well as have a default setting for future videos so they don't have to manually set the tags every time, however if the content of the video is different from their typical content they can add or remove tags as necessary. (creators can adjust the settings for existing videos in the future when they feel like they need to make a change to the tags) Then advertisers can pick which tags and age groups they want their ads to appear on videos where they are comfortable with the content of the video their ads are appearing alongside as well as make sure that the advertiser's intended target audience sees it (I.E. Health products will appear on exercise videos, horror movies will play trailers on horror videos, and toys and kid's products appear on toy and children channels. This can also make it easier for they CZcams kids app and restricted mode to better filter out what you see. Restricted mode can then be full restricted mode or only restrict particular genres, content, or recommend age groups. This system allows for content creators to feel more free to create the content they want by self tagging themselves, and advertisers can be more assured that their ads are appearing where they want them to. Of course you're always going to have people who falsely tag their videos for a variety of reasons, and it's up to CZcams and the community to weed out these false tags and make sure the system is being used appropriately. This is just my person idea for a potential system, and whether or not this hypothetical system would work or even how well it would work is unknown. Additionally, I don't know how difficult it would be to implement and maintain this kind of system, as well as how difficult it would be to monitor it and make sure everything is being used appropriately. Who knows, maybe this would work, maybe it wouldn't. It's just one idea among many.
I LOVE YOUR IDEAS! That is genius.... I wish they would implement them, it would give the creators a sense of control and involvement in the new CZcams changes, whilst still giving advertiser's more power over ad placement.

Basically Venezuela is beginning to push against the socialism that has turned the country on its head. ( why a lot of people didn't vote for Bernie Sanders) People are going out to fight the government forces that basically stopped importing food and other resources. Their economy has completely tanked and its a free for all. Their economy relied on oil sales and no one is buying anymore because there is a massive influx of it. ( high supply, but no demand) This is not their only problem, but one of many.

Hey Phil! I've never suggested a topic before and not sure if this is how it works. But I was browsing some social media and came across a story of a death of a fraternity brother at Penn State. Multiple and numerous charges have been made and it's a topic that hits close to home for me as I am a local college student in New Jersey who know a few people attending Penn State. Not sure what it is I would like to hear from you on this topic but I think it's important to spread some insight on hazing. And hopefully a story like this can really change the minds of those stereotypical frat bros and impact like people on the dangers of underage drinking (or heavy drinking in general)
I'm not entirely sure why this is AS unpopular of an opinion, but somehow it is... I'm actually a child pornography survivor. There are thousands of images and videos of me online I'll never be able to retrieve. I'm fine with what the FBI did here. Most of those horrible people are on multiple sites, and have their own private stashes - so it's not as if leaving the site up allowed them to keep seeing images of something they wouldn't be able to otherwise. ...or that those children were allowed to be violated MORE. (Violated once, or by thousands, it all feels the same.) Any way to catch more of them is fine by me. Though, I'm still only cautiously optimistic since the FBI is well known to allow some of this to continue....or even sometimes facilitate it. But my HOPE is that this seems it could've been a branch of the FBI that *actually* wanted to do some good and help children overall (even if that was just by catching some disgusting humans).
I'd be perfectly happy if this technology was used more and more and know that it is in other scenarios. I know my area created a unit to do similar things due to the large child exploitation rings here, and I _believe_ there were a few in my area arrested bc of this technology. Cannot be sure, but it's probable, and I'm grateful.

I'm very disappointed in CZcams. I'm trying to be understanding due to the fact that they were bleeding out a lot of money, but they're essentially taking away creativity and freedom of speech. A lot of the videos that aren't being monetized are tame, but they cover 'sensitive' topics, or are just odd. Part of the freedom of CZcams was making obscene, creative videos that wouldn't make it on regular TV, or having people discuss usually untouched topics with large audiences, and now they're pushing those people and that content I originally came for out.
This sums up my feelings exactly. "Family friendly" content is beyond boring for me since I don't enjoy watching the Zoella's of CZcams continually discuss their makeup/scrap booking projects. My favorite creators make me laugh with jokes that are a little offensive and involve high levels of sarcasm. One of my favorite creators recently made a "What's in my closet" type of video and I watched it because I wanted to be supportive during a rough patch but I was secretly cringing inside since I knew that wasn't the kind of content they wanted to release nor the type of content I wanted to watch.

As a parent, I wish CZcams had a clear and visual "EXPLICIT" tag that a creator could easily turn on-and a restricted mode that actually worked. The width and breadth of content that creators provide is amazing and I see no reason to censor it; I just want to make sure my kid is watching the right ones for his age.

It is exactly the same. My Logitech 7.1 surround sound speakers are at 50% volume in order to be loud enough, as per usual for the PDS. An ad or an HD audio track would knock me off my chair right now if it suddenly came on.

I guess I don't really understand why advertisers are so upset when their ad is played in front of a "unworthy" video. Do people really think that the ads played are related to the video they are watching? I never think that the ad before or during a video is in anyway related to the video I'm trying to watch. I thought they were always random or filters to what I'm interested in at most. Why not say the ad before a video is just random/unrelated and leave it there?
