Oh my gosh thank you so much! I have a 2009 Ford escape and this is the second time my hatch hasn't worked. First time I took it to the dealership and they charge me $250. I followed your video got the part on Amazon and the only trouble I had was getting those three screws out with the t27 bit that I didn't have. After that smooth sailing and it works perfectly. I'm 67 years old a female and it gave me the biggest thrill to do this not to mention I save $200 or more. You rock!!! I made a video and took some pictures but I don't know how to send it to you...

Thanks for this had to replace this on a 2011 Mazda tribute, same process, the only difficulty I had was removing the upper power connecter, these hatches tend to leak and the only way I could get them apart was to break the housing on the old motor, which revealed the plug and pins had basically welded themselves together. I purchased a replacement motor for 40 bucks on Amazon and it works like a charm! thanks for the video, without your help I would have sent it to the garage to be fixed and it would have cost me a lot more then 40 bucks and 45 mins of my time HUGE THANK YOU SIR!

Be sure to reach in with your left arm as shown to release the latch. Mine failed when the plastic rod from the servo broke in half. Many attempts using my right arm failed because i wasn't reaching the metal mechanism on the left side. Pulling on the actuator didn't work since it was detached from the latch.

I do think it's pretty crappy that most manufacturers don't put an access panel in the rear plastic trim to get at the lock assembly. I was freaking out when Eric O had to reach his entire arm behind that giant cover, scared it was going to start snapping attachment pins or simple break the whole cover completely. On the flip side, it was good to see that the actuator COULD be removed separately in case you wanted to go to a salvage yard and just swap out the actuator alone. I live where there's no corrosion, so if my unit failed, I wouldn't need the whole assembly.
