THANK YOU!!! I have had troubles with that stupid mechanism for a very long time, but I refused to take it in for replacement because of the cost. I'm a female, hence the name, and have made a lot of repairs on my 2002 Escape to save money. I even changed out my heater blower. :) Anyway, I was waiting for a video like this to show me step by step how to change this out!! Your instructions and steps are very clear so I feel confident I can change this without any issues. THANKS again for sharing!
Iâm glad it helped. Thanks for the great comment!!
Good work!
Excellent video and Mechanic.
Thank You so much.
Thanks! Hope it helped!
Mines stuck closed. Do you have a video on how to get it open?
Great video, man thanks. Does it also fix the back hatch window as well, or is it a seperate part?
@@adam__mark the gold colored mechanism and all the rods that clip to it work the handle that opens either the glass or the whole hatch. The thing I replaced is just to get the door lock working again. If your door wonât pop open with the handle you might have a broken clip or a rod thatâs not attached to the mechanism. Just a guess.
Thank you I've had the same problem driving me nuts intermittent
No problem. Hope it helps.
@@carguytroy Do you know what the part number is for the '06 version that you installed? I'm trying to source out the part but nothing comes up except for '08 and higher. Definitely the same issue except I will have to try to get the door open manually from the inside before I can do anything...gotta love Ford, right? You know they installed heaters in the bumper right? .... to keep your hands warm when you are pushing it in the winter. LOL Just kidding (sort of)... I've got a 2001 and she's been a trooper all these years with minor repairs (thankfully). I've had the same sticky lock for years but this is the first time the key hasn't worked either to get it open. :( Thanks for your time and great video. :)
@@fayetted5074 I couldn't find a new one either so I sourced one from the local pick and pull yard. I do see one on eBay for sale for $30.00, it matches the one I used. I would have thought Dorman Products would have one out by now. Still a lot of these around and it's a common failure.
For me my issue is the door ajar light that won't turn off, with it being the issue from the trunk, help?
Hi from TN. I have a 2003 Escape XLT. The issue is the rear hatch handle is cracked and I can not open the hatch door. The handle for the window works fine. Wonder if you have encountered a similar problem and might have a idea for a solution ? Thank you. SG
Hello I'm having a real Issue with my 2003 Ford escape. So I recently got something stuck in the Rear back door so it wouldn't Open and I got it handled so it can Open But now my Problem is that it won't Close and I noticed there was a metal zipper wedge in so I pulled it out thinking it would Closed But it still won't shut. is there any suggestions? THANK YOU
Thatâs a tough one. Is the latch maybe broken? Thatâs one youâd really have to see in person to figure out. Iâm guessing you mean shuts but wonât latch.
Where did u the the parts
The parts for this I sourced from a local wrecking yard. Cost very little to fix that way.
