Good work! Excellent video and Mechanic. Thank You so much.
I think it's discontinued that seal
Do u no where or how to get the rear seal that goes on bow
I can't picture what you are describing. Only seal I can think of is the front header seal. Which bow are you needing a seal for?
@@carguytroy it's the rear seal like when your installing all them bolts in the convertible well the well liner even attaches to it.
@@carguytroy the rear bow has three sections that goes in the back well. And window and convertible top get stapled to it but there is a seal as well.
@@carguytroy actually its the seal that is under neither the rear trim.
Cannnn offf pissss lol
Bro 20 years old is 1970 not 2005.
I'm no mathematician, but I think it's 2024 and the can is from 2005. Okay so it's 19 years old. I stand corrected. 😂
@@carguytroy Sorry but i refuse to believe it.
*If that beer 🍻 was from 1970, it would be 54 years old!! The beer says 2005 on it, which makes it almost 20 years old!!! Do NOT pass go, do NOT collect $200, go directly back to kindergarten, and learn to do math again!!! The dude even tried to explain it to you, and you stuck with your theory!!!* 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@firewaterbydesign I was making a joke about refusing to believe it because that means I’m getting old. Dummy. I know the math.
I think everyone who responded to this comment is missing the point the op is making. In his mind, time has flown by so quickly, 20 years ago feels as though it would be 1970. I happen to agree with his logic!
Keep it,
Don't do it
Canned? I say go for it.
You better drink that shit
Question is was it ever 😂

When oil came in a can not a bottle. Crap, now I'm showing my age.
I concur
That’s for drinking the black gooey stuff in my grandpas garage!
For an oil can
Alcohol proof tester?
If only. I'd put it to good use!
Water to anti freeze ratio is my guess.
Yes. Old antifreeze testers.
Yesterday… I had a can of Hawaiian punch
HA! Love it!
Old fashioned oil can opener/spout
Yeah I've seen like 50 different shorts by old farts who think they're the only one who knows about this
Not too old. Never used one of these personally. I Just have a bunch of old stuff that I wonder why I have it. Why save one of these?
They went out in the mid to late 80's
Old oil spout
Correct!!
Old oil spout
Tadahhh!
I had a shop replace my top a year ago and since the install ive noticed at highway speeds the top “bubbles” is this normal ?
Not sure what you mean by "bubbles" really. Like it fills with air like a parachute? Ours stays flat against the top bows while driving with the top up. The few I've done have all stayed flat against the top bows.
What a great video
Thanks!
We are doing a 2002 top now 2 pieces and this video is a big help.
Glad it helps!
My code was P0446. I have the same year raptor
I had a different code. P0430 Catalyst System below threshold Bank 2, and a P0456 EVAP System Leak Detected(small leak). That purge valve can give a false cat code as well as a few others. Replacing the valve fixed the recurring cat code. The small evap leak I believe was caused by the gas filler neck not sealing correctly. Where there's no gas cap that flap deal that seals it up can get dirty and not seal. But the P0430 code is the one that was fixed by changing the purge valve.
What code did you get?
woulda been nice if you actually showed how u got the window screwed and stapled in i don't see any reason why that was cut from the video that's like the most important part
I just ripped my top off undid the screws and slapped a new one on
Thank you for showing the pictures of the service manual, you guys are life savers!!
Thank you.
No problem. Hope it helps.
Thank you for the great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
you near mass by chance, i need a new top for my 94.
I would lend a hand, but I'm a couple thousand miles west of you.
Amazing video. Not much on top replacements! I had mine done for 1600 from a shop. Love the way it came but I skimped on a new headliner. So stupid question: Can the headliner be replaced with the new top in tact?
Really good question. On ours the front part of the headliner and the top glued and stapled to the header bow. On ours the headliner and top had to be done at the same time. The headliner went in first then the convertible top.
@@carguytroy womp womp for me then. Thank you very much much for the response and the video brother!
Great job
Thanks. Turned out great!
New rebuilt motors will always have that burn off making you think something’s wrong 🤣
What happened!?
LMAOOO
thanks for sharing. I actually just got the Wilton Truck Vice and am going to use it in the shop using a similar technique (receiver + bench) and I can take it and use it in the truck receiver when needed. (One thing your setup has over mine is your set-up maintains the rotational capabilities of a bench vice.)
Thanks! One of the biggest reasons I like this set up is it put the vice out away from the bench. Gave me a lot more utility.
The old fuel lines will often cause this little problem.
What is claybar? The back and forth movement...was specific
It’s a bar of clay for detailing cars. I bought my kit from a local parts store. Came with two bars of clay, a spray, and a large microfiber towel. It’s for taking contaminants out of the paint prior to buffing/waxing.
Thank you!!!!
Welcome!
Its like listening to nicolas cage.
Weird. I don't hear it. But I'll take that as a compliment!
Why would you post a video about something you don't much about. You're supposed to turn the wheel while you tighten the bearing nut with a torque wrench and then back off a little before you put the cotter pin in.
You are correct, tighten to seat the bearing then back it off a bit and put the cotter pin in. That's the procedure and that's what we did. It's been 3 years and it's been cruising right along. Darn good old truck. Not the prettiest thing, but it does its job. Needs some rust repair, but thats a whole other project.
What’s the torque?for me I didn’t spin the wheel and arm torqued it to 15 lbs then backed off I/4 turn.
Been trying unsuccessfully to confirm the size socket needed to remove the steering wheel nut on my 64. The the steering shaft on the early vw's was smaller and takes a different size than newer cars. Haven't had two people yet give me the same answer. Any feedback much appreciated!
I'm sorry I don't know the size of the steering wheel nut. I actually used a large adjustable wrench to get the one off the Karmann Ghia. I didn't have much large metric stuff at the time and just used what I had handy.

$113640.00 is MSRP

Actually…..Yes it did. Reputable dealer is always a plus.

Believe as you wish. All I know is I wish it were mine. Pretty truck. Color is gorgeous!!
What kindvof stapler did you use and what size staples?
Used an Arrow air stapler that used T50 stainless steel staples. Staples were 5/16" T50 stainless steel. Have to use stainless steel staples. Regular staples will rust, stainless steel will not.
5/16 everywhere? I rewatched video where you said 3/8 in back?
@@theghostsofmyaddiction4471 you’re right. 3/8 in the rear tack strip that goes across the back that bolts to the rear of the car and 5/16 in the top bows. Those rear bars are thicker and can take a little longer staple. Plus there’s spots where the material overlaps and you need a longer staple anyway. I actually bought a few different sizes all the way up to 1/2 inch but only ended up using a few sizes. The tack strip in the front header bow is pretty thin. I did use a few 1/4” staples there and a few longer ones where the material overlapped on the corners. I had to kind of play with staple length to get it right. Definitely not an exact science. I’ve done a couple of these and they were both trial and error to get it right. The SN95 seemed easier to me than the fox body I did. But the fox body was the first one I ever messed with.
My first attempt thanks for the help.
