- When Nash brought her baby, Octavius home, both her dogs Echo and Atlas instantly took to him. But because Atlas is more independent, Echo became Octavius’s best friend. Together they get up to mischief and try to act cute to not get into trouble. Nash believes having two dogs around her baby is a blessing and she wouldn’t not change it for the world.

It's crazy how good big dogs are with children. It's gotta be the baby smell. They just know to be gentle.
MY only "Suggestion " is with dogs from shelters, with children, you "possibly" may have a dog that was HURT by a child. {get my suggestion} ? a puppy GSD I had 5 ,....A L L protected the Children all Females dogs Some do not like men with Hats so I "suggest " watch new men with hats and Their children., You ARE their family believe it or not. Ask any multi-GSD owner.... LOL...enjoy.... OBTW they are smart ,...My last one (Funny Story) was outside she saw Ducks land on the roof, ... She came running thru the house up to second floor bedroom to get to the skylight that is how protective and smart they are. Point they WILL know every inch of "THEIR" house...
Dogs always come around when they see babies!! They know the difference between them and adults!! They are extremely protective!! Especially, the German Shepherd!! They can smell and sense children!! Dogs perfectly understand what a human "puppy" is or for that matter, what a baby anything is. Their innate desire is to love and nurture. My son and our lab mix became inseparable. That dog protected him like a Secret Service Agent. It was a beautiful thing to watch. 🐕💛
Echo is an IDEAL big brother for Octavius. He is gentle, attentive, and protective. They are wonderful playmates and nap partners for each other. Plus Echo's tongue makes an effective wet nap for his brother's face after each meal!
Octavius will never meet a more loyal friend/protector than Echo and Atlas. The video at 0:16 with Echo cuddling up to your son is gorgeous ❤
I love Echo…Octavius’ squeals made me laugh so hard especially when he was playing with Echo’s tail.

My giant poodle loved little kids. He was very tolerant of them, even if one of them decided to stick a finger up his nose. He didn't have a bad bone in his body.

It’s a shame some people believe rescued pets (especially dogs, but I’ve heard the odd person warn about adopted cats being aggressive, too) aren’t to be trusted, especially around kids. My experience has been the exact opposite; our rescued Shih Tzu was a gentle-to-everyone-and-every-creature ball of love. Rescued pets are wonderful members of any household, so long as parents train these - or any - pets to be calm and gentle. 💗
Resque cats the same. We got a male cat from the animal resque and it's a real darling and not at all aggressive. It can move freely in/ around the house but also loves cuddling. I'm a bit ill now and the cat doesn't move from my side. He is a true family member.
We had a RiesenSchnauzer when my baby brother was born and he was just the perfect dog with kids, so loving and friendly

Such sweetness. I never knew GSD's were this good until my friend got one. She scared the daylights out of me because she she barked loud and I had my prejudices. Well I got to know her to the point my friend would invite me over and I'd just walk in the door on my own. She always come rushing and as soon as she saw me she put on her brakes and probably just muttered, "it's just Victor, all ok".
I would dog sit her sometime. She was as sweet as sugar. I loved her so much and just writing this makes me tear up thinking of her. She was so sweet with my friend's baby. Protective and incredibly gentle. She knew the difference between humans and dogs and handled Joey more gently than with pups.
I hope there is a heaven and I will see this sweetie once again.

This baby is a triple winner. 1) Incredible parents.
2) A silly joyful protective shepherd. 3) Now add the goofy malamute with the permanent smile . Obviously Mr Malamute is guarding Octaviaus perimeter , quietly nonchalantly .
Maybe it's the tryptophan from the thanksgiving turkey
but I don't think so. This video is now on my "slice of heaven on earth" list

Having grown up around dogs, I got one when my son was born. That dog was so protective of him. As he grew, they did everything together. More than once I found them sleeping together in the dog bed. 😂 It was so beautiful. Dogs are just love with fur. 🐕💙🚼

I absolutely love dogs, especially German Shepherds, as I was raised with them. I would Never let them around my baby like that, you never know they could snap.
GSDs are one, if not the best, most intelligent breed out there. If you will only get a rescue dog, get a pure GSD, even when they're adults, they're more likely to figure out the pack hierarchy and they have natural affection for babies and kids. But of course socialization is important.
German Shepherds are the best. I am on my 6th one.

Look past the cuteness and put your science hat on. This is BIZARRE behavior between two different species. Not only do we allow a carnivorous predator around human infants.... That infant is healthier, happier and safer with a well behaved, trained dog around.
Dogs and humans have a special relationship between species.
Cruel name for your baby, kids will give him a rough time because of it.
That is not a her brother! Get that dog away from that baby!
