When They Meet Their New Baby Brother For The First Time! (Cutest Ever!!)

- Everyone sees big dogs and think they are scary! These fluff balls are the softest most friendly dogs ever and they just love their furless siblings! They are so curious about their new bald puppy it's so wholesome! It's Teddy's first time meeting a baby here and he handled it like a champ. Both Phil and Niko have been here before with Amelia so they know the score, they see another human to befriend knowing that they will drop food on the floor for them haha. Nathan is now nearly 8 months old and this is the first day we brought him home and introduced him to the fur family even Milo. Amelia was sooo excited to see him, she was even reading him books over facetime while he was in hospital it was adorable. We thought we would share this little montage as we were looking back over old videos and it just warms your heart to watch their interactions and to have Nathan at nearly 8 months now and see the change. We are firm believers to socialise and include your family pets with new babies so they don't feel left out and there are no behavioural changes, it's worked for us and to teach them their boundaries in an inclusive way.
For those that don't know, dogs have such a strong sense of smell that they can smell a pheromone which is a scent on the baby that indicates to them that the baby is indeed young and resembles the same scent of the owner which is why the dogs appear to be gentle and attempt to calm and have a change in demeanor as they understand that it can't fend for itself and is apart of the family.
Correct They Knew the Baby was Present Long Before Birth . They will be Great with the new edition my Youngest is 25 Now Enjoy . I Do Miss Being dad when they were small So enjoy Lovely dogs will Protect you all. x

Love how Teddy squidges down to make himself smaller and less threatening, sniff from a good distance, slow, gentle, quiet, no barking, no jumping, no bouncing or running, just nice and flat and gentle sniffs. I get that you were nervous but you've seen how good he is with Amelia, so I'm not really surprised
Dogs seem concerned that baby continues much-needed rest.

For those who don't know, dogs have a strong sense of hierarchical respect. Normally it takes them a while to get to know the newborns because the mothers do not trust them to do any harm, even if it is involuntary because the babies are defenseless and weak. This is how they begin to know and respect them. Of course, the smell is the most important thing (there are few dogs that do not have a fine sense of smell).
I love how every time Teddy licks your face its like he's saying "congrats bro, you had a puppy!" 💓

Senior dogs are so precious! Our sweet Mason wasn't able to jump up in the last 6-8 months of his life (arthritis in the balls of his knees and then a bad back injury from getting startled during a thunderstorm), but he'd always give it the old college try, and then if/when that didn't work, you'd best believe he'd start howling until someone picked him up (literally only me and my sister were allowed to hahaha)
What kind of Pup was NATHAN??? My Pup PEANUT was a Lab/Dachshund mix. She lived to b 15. She loved my Son. We then got a Shitzu and named him KING. We had to Re-home him cause of Home health for my mom. King is in a Loving home, that's all that matters
Malamutes loves babies and kids; we got our Malamute when I was 10 and she was my best friend. That kiddo is in the safest of hands (paws) :)
They all did so well, Phillip was so cute, absolutely shaking with excitement and trying to control his energy. ♥️
I got a Malamute when I was 14, he got to be about 105 pounds. My neices were 4 at the time. They were his kids. They'd use him as a pillow while watching TV. If I got mad at them, Kobuk would talk angrily at me.
I now have a Malamute again, 50 years later. She loves my grandkids. She loves all kids and puppies.
Great family dogs for sure. This little boy will have those dogs wrapped around his pinky finger in no time!
It's interesting to see how the dogs instinctively do quiet little howls/woofs around babies and young children.

This was a fun trip down memory lane. It's amazing watching your furbabies interact with your human babies, and I completely agree with your philosophy on socializing them with each other. The loving bond that they all have is proof of how well it's worked for your family.

Oh how I remember how PhillyBear and NanaNiko were with Amelia when she was born. This video like the one when they met Amelia is truly beautiful. How the doggies behaved themselves showing great care for their baby brother. I look forward to seeing the progression of each bonding with Nathan just as they bonded with Amelia. So heartwarming...

You could see Beautiful Nana Niko planning Nathan’s upbringing as a member of the pack. All 4 of them are so loving & gentle with their Little Humans-it’s a joy to watch them! ❤🥰
It's staggering how emotionally intelligent and sensitive dogs are ! They perfectly understand that a new member of the pack has arrived, And they showed such sensitivity and respect towards the baby .

I often wonder, because a dogs sense of smell is so advanced, given how protective they were around you when pregnant, if they could pick up baby Nathans scent while still inside you, and knew exactly who he was from that scent when he arrived (same with Mia when she was a baby)

Dogs are brilliant aren't they.....they just know. They might be a bit nervous & excited themselves at first but they do everything to reassure.
These are clearly well loved & bonded dogs with their family....gentle giants.
Trust your dog & they will trust you. My dogs totally protected & kept a watchful eye on my babies from the minute I brought them home.
I always find myself amazed at how gentle dogs can be around babies. Especially big and powerful dogs like this.

20 years ago I brought a blanket home from the hospital so my Weimaraner could get the scent of my son before we brought him home. Worked a treat and I would recommend that to anyone bringing home a baby to any house with dogs.

Aww, they're soo happy to meet the little one. Dogs can smell hormones and other things like that and babies have a very specific smell. I bet the dogs know exactly what it is!
