I loved the save he made on Phil Esposito (circa 1974). Phil was almost in the crease and flipped the puck up using a wrist shot. Dryden gloved it. Esposito simply stood there and stared!

Hawks were ahead 2-0 in the second period. Bobby Hull blew a slapshot past Dryden but it hit the crossbar that would have made it 3-0. Just after that Lemaire fired a knuckleball from 90 feet out that fooled Tony Esposito. Habs tied it up and in the first two minutes of the 3rd Henri Richard went in alone and scored the go ahead goal. The last 18 minutes of that game the Hawks must have had 20 shots on Dryden and this was one of them. I was 12 years old at the game in the stadium with my dad in the nose bleed seats. I cried all the way home. 3 years later I attended Tony and Phils hockey camp in the soo. I had an opportunity to ask Tony O about that Lemaire shot. I said, 'Did you lose it in the crowd when it was above the boards"? "Did you lose it in the fog"? (there was fog at ice level). Tony looked me square in the eyes and said " No, I just blew it". Biggest lesson I learned at that hockey camp was to never make excuses and take full responsibility as a goalie.

Just to add a bit to the drama of that game 7 the night before Henri slapped Al MacNeil in the face and said he was the worst coach he ever played for then scored the tying and winning goals to win the Stanley cup
