    Gypsy Jazz Breakthrough Retreat - AMSTERDAM January 22-26, 2020
    Come and join me for a unique once in a lifetime experience in one of Europe’s most picturesque and cultured capitals, Amsterdam. Indulge yourself for 4 days & nights with personalised instruction and creative jam sessions designed to inspire breakthroughs whilst removing any doubts or sticking points from your playing.
    This is not your standard gypsy jazz workshop, but an exclusive, high end and intimate retreat where I will be applying some of my new methods to push you in all areas of your guitar playing. I also want us to work together to bring out your unique voice within the gypsy jazz genre based on your current skill level and guitar playing background.
    We’ll be doing it up in style at Kapitein Zeppos located right in the heart of Old Amsterdam. Zeppos is famous for it’s fine dining, beautiful decor and live music and has welcomed some of the major gypsy jazz players from around the world to their stage including Jimmy Rosenberg, Paulus Schaefer and myself.
    Zeppos is the spiritual centre for Django’s music in The Netherlands and provides an inspiring location for our third Amsterdam breakthrough retreat!
    All retreat members will be VIP Guests at the Django Amsterdam festival where you'll have front row seats to enjoy gypsy jazz greats, Stochelo Rosenberg, Dorado Schmitt, Amati Schmitt, Jimmy Rosenberg and many more!
    You'll also have plenty of time to discover some of the treasures of Amsterdam including the famous art museums, Anne Frank House, beautiful canals and historic churches which are all in easy walking distance.
    I’ll help you prepare for the retreat with a personal Skype coaching session and we’ll set you up with instant access to all the valuable bonus online material so you can start improving right away.

    Hi Robin, Thanks for going over this great tune. Although I haven't played it for months, it was easy to recall, since you got us to memorise it at the GJ retreat in Western Australia. Looking forward to finding out what the Brazilians do with la pompe. Do they like the Gypsy Bossa rhythm? Is there a Gypsy Samba now?

    • @GypsyJazzSecrets
      @GypsyJazzSecrets  Před 4 lety +1

      dingoswamphead yes it’s a good one to play Swing Gitane. Truth is the Brazilians don’t really like to play the so called Gypsy Bossa... much happier playing swing!

  • @justsaying7512

    Hi. Thanks for the cool lesson! What chords are you using in the end. They sound so pretty. Around 21:34. Are they diminished? If so, how do they relate to the chords in the rhythm?

    • @rolfedrengen
      @rolfedrengen Před 2 lety

      I believe it's m6b5's and then major6b5. It's like doing a m7b5 and moving all fingers a string towards the bottom. I guess it's like chords replacement, you know, like a Bm7b5 relates to Dm and C#m7b5 relates to A. This exact thing is - to me - central to get that gypsyjazz-ish sound and colour!

  • @rickspence979
    @rickspence979 Před 4 lety +2

    Robin - what is that chord you move up a semitone to the Ab at 0:16? Is it D B D on strings 5 3 and 2 i.e. you're just skipping the root?? Thanks. 4 of us (so far) coming to Djangofest 2020.

    • @GypsyJazzSecrets
      @GypsyJazzSecrets  Před 4 lety

      Rick Spence hi Rick - it starts at 35X45 and slides up one fret to 46X56 bass note played with thumb. Djangofest 2020 will be awesome! Robin

  • @BARKINGattheMOON100

    And here's me thinking that you had to have a fucķed up hand in order to play this stuff. How did Monsieur Reinhardt manage all of those Chords. Something not quite right about your explanation. Twilight Zone shit.👽👽👽

    • @GypsyJazzSecrets
      @GypsyJazzSecrets  Před 4 lety

      BARKINGattheMOON100 haha is mere mortals need all the fingers we can get.. Django had the use of 2 fingers for single lines but could use his disabled fingers in some chords. 🙌Robin
