‘Minor Blues’ Try This Tasty Minor Arpeggio Lick!
In this lesson you'll learn how to get good at soloing in gypsy jazz.
This is especially useful for gypsy jazz guitarists who want to build confidence in their soloing.
The ONE thing you need to do everyday, even if only for five minutes to get good at playing gypsy jazz soloing, is practice playing over chord changes.
One good technique to make your solos more interesting and groovy is to use Licks.
This lick is one of my favorites and works over a Minor chord.
In this example we’ll use it over a ‘Minor Blues’ in Gm.
So over the Gm and Cm
Also don't be afraid to leave space! This will make your solo even more musical :-)
Don't over think this but instead be consistent and actually do it every day.
In one weeks time you will notice the difference!

That short solo said more about the blues than anything that I've heard for months from the so called "hot players" perhaps they should slow down, and think how important EVERY single note is to a solo, it's not about speed, it's about structure and phrasing. Thanks Rob.

You are spot on. A lot of modern Django disciples concentrate on emulating his blistering speed and ignore what made him special. Timing. Phrasing and soul.

Hi Robin …I’m so glad I watched this video. The licks you show us how to play are great but as an added bonus you also managed to explain to me the GJ picking style whereby you rest on the string below. I’ve been struggling with this but in this video you explained and showed how to it so many thanks.❤
