My little guy is gone now. I found mine in the forest years ago. He had scars everywhere, his ears had been almost entirely cut off.... it was obvious he had been a fighting pit. He was about 20 lbs.... looked like a skeleton with black hair on it. Also, where I accidentally found him was known for pit backyard breeding in the woods. He was fearful and just laid on the ground in front of me and just gave up when I approached him. I picked him up, put him in my car, and took him home. Took almost a year physically and mentally to make him whole again, but he became one of the best dogs I've ever had. Not aggressive to anyone but he looked like a devil dog .... black, scarred, fierce.... and a totally loving pooch. I miss Bear. It's amazing what love and care can do for a broken, living, creature of any species.
I’m so sorry you’ve lost your Bear air but I thank you so much for your kindness for rescuing him though I know you probably rescued each other. I too had a wonderful mastiff-pit mix called Bear who has also sadly passed. I lost another rescue within months of him as well then my best guy Snickers, my 18 year old rescued Husky about a year ago. My beloved Doberman mix was attacked by my boyfriend’s German Shepherd as he is still intact and occasionally gets an attitude and Ranger my guy is very shy. His wounds are still healing after 2 months (had major surgery). And yet all this pain, if I could, I’d take all of their pain on to myself if I could because my dogs are the best.
Change takes time. Remeber, she knew nothing but being locked up and bred. NOW she know love and kindness and happiness and all kinds of joy! ❤ Beautiful.
That’s all my Jack knows. Locked up and bred on an Amish farm. He was rescued two days before their vet was going to euthanize him. Rescuer got him in April of ‘23 and I adopted him in July that same year. My poor boy has fear issues and cowers when he’s approached. He’s a miniature poodle and I was told I should train him because poodles are really smart. That may be so, but he was caged for years to breed and I want him to just learn to be a dog. He still hasn’t learned to jump up on the furniture because he never learned to jump while being in a cage . 🥺 Love to watch him play with his toys. He doesn’t know tug of war or to chase after an object when you toss it across the room. 🥺 He washes his face with his two front paws while one of his back legs tries to interfere, then he’s fighting with his back leg to get it to stop interfering. 😂 Change definitely takes time. At least he has accomplished playing with toys 🧸 when he didn’t even know what they were or what to do with them. ❤ It’s a beautiful thing to watch them slowly come out of their shells and to be the dog they were always meant to be. ❤

She was 9 years old when I adopted her and when I adopted her, she had tumors and they told me I could bail out on the adoption if I wanted to but. I couldn’t. I was absolutely in love with her. My veterinarian diagnosed her with Lung Cancer. She couldn’t tolerate heat and I always had to put a bowl of ice in front of her with a fan behind the ice to blow in her direction, just so she could breathe. I only had her for a year and three months. She wouldn’t play with toys at all, but was also diagnosed with Cushing’s disease. Not being interested in toys was an underlying symptom. She also had hair loss/thinning. My Macie would only rest her head on her stuffed toys to help her breathe better also. Never played with them. Only slept with them. I lined them up all around her cage, so whenever she turned to a different spot, she had another toy to rest her head on. Jack will only play with toys by himself. I try to play with him but he gets a bit nervous and backs off. Someday I hope. 🤞🏻 ☺️
A pitbull is not a part of the bully breed they’re an American pitbull terrier. One of its own breeze came from the American pitbull terrier and we asked pitbull owners. Don’t want to be associated with bully breeds. I’m just letting you know so you’re informed.

Like any other dog they need to be socialized young because they have an extremely protective nature. Irresponsible owners are the reason bully breeds have a bad reputation. The first thing I noticed is her beauty. I’ve never seen a dog for their breed. I have a lab pit mix and she’s my bff. We go every where I can take her. She and my cats get along well.
I have a Staffordshire bull terrier and he's amazing too. Gets along with my mixed breed dog and canaan dog and also my two cats very well. The reputation they get which is notoriously not good is a result of a lack of training and socialisation from irresponsible owners and breeders.
Sadly it was that beautiful merle color that led to her being used by a backyard breeder. They were able to charge a lot for any merle puppies she produced because it's a desirable pattern in dogs right now.
Pitties aren’t something I never thought of having either, but awhile after losing my 16 yr old chihuahua I melted at the sight of a pit mix when I first held her! She is so loving with people. A huge snuggle bug. Then for her birthday we got her a baby brother that came home with us the day before her birthday. She got to pick out her own brother first out of a litter of pit bulls. It has been so good for her after she was diagnosed with a degenerative joint condition. She’s more active now that she has a brother playmate. Their bond has been truly amazing watching them grow together. Scared of almost everything until they figure out it’s ok (whatever it may be). But they love each other so deeply, it’s truly precious! And brother is even more cuddly than her and I wouldn’t have thought this was possible. But your girl is gorgeous! Those markings are beautiful and the color too!❤

That coat is called merle and yes it is pretty but buyer beware they are prone to health conditions. Esp with poor breeding. Merle gene can cause blindness and deafness, etc. Making them challenging to care for (and expensive). Be prepared to care for them if things go wrong with their health. People do dump them when reality and vet bills hit 😢

Pit bulls are very affectionate and it’s all in the master - love and security creates a loving dog - I have a Maltese and I love mine but he’s not as cuddly as a pitbull bc he wants to be boss. It brings me great joy when people share their pitbull stories and work at breaking the stigma ❤

Well obviously. Big dogs need lots of exercise, they're really strong, some people are better suited to tiny dogs or ones who dont need much exercise I hated walking my dogs. My wife an I adopted our first Pitbull 6 months ago. She is the most loving kind sweet dog I've ever had and I've had a lot through the years. What a wonderful breed this is. You just got to love them and they will return your love 10 fold.

She is absolutely beautiful. My pit does the same thing with her tail when she’s super excited. I call it her “tail of furry”. Her tail could clear areas with its force. But she get more excited when she hears me say that because it noticeably gets more wags. As a pit dad, I can only sympathize with the looks of fear I guarantee she gets. Pits are the sweetest dogs.

My boyfriend dog is 14 years old. She's Pharaoh hound and Rottweiler. She is such a nice dog. She loves everyone but she's getting old. But we make sure she is okay. She gets her medication, dental treats, vitamins and she's on a calorie restriction diet to keep her alive. She's getting everything she needs to stay alive and be comfortable. She is blind partially and partially deaf and has some arthritis in one of her legs but I massage her legs everyday to make sure she's not in any pain. She's adapted and loved by everyone.🥰
Last year adopted a Jack Russell rescued from Mennonite breeder. Had to learn about doors, notmal house sounds. Still working on vacuum and cooking sounds, but she has blossomed into a joyful, funny, caring little gem

The dog was always there. It’s the owners that failed.
If there is any sort of action that defines your success on the earth, then redeeming sad unloved animals that are bred to love us is that action.

This is how pities should be treated, with love and affection. These poor babies are the victims of poor breeders and even worse owners leading to the deaths of too many. Pitted, like children, need love, security, and compassionate yet firm training. Bless you for taking rehabilitating such a beautiful soul.

She is absolutely beautiful. My pit does the same thing with her tail when she’s super excited. I call it her “tail of furry”. Her tail could clear areas with its force. But she get more excited when she hears me say that because it noticeably gets more wags.
As a pit dad, I can only sympathize with the looks of fear I guarantee she gets. Pits are the sweetest dogs.
I call it helicopter tail. Wearing jeans, I could still feel the slap of his tail, summertime when wearing shorts are the worst.
My Lab is a big girl and she’ll clear a coffee table in a heartbeat or tail swipe if you will.

My boyfriend dog is 14 years old. She's Pharaoh hound and Rottweiler. She is such a nice dog. She loves everyone but she's getting old. But we make sure she is okay. She gets her medication, dental treats, vitamins and she's on a calorie restriction diet to keep her alive. She's getting everything she needs to stay alive and be comfortable. She is blind partially and partially deaf and has some arthritis in one of her legs but I massage her legs everyday to make sure she's not in any pain. She's adapted and loved by everyone.🥰

Last year adopted a Jack Russell rescued from Mennonite breeder. Had to learn about doors, notmal house sounds. Still working on vacuum and cooking sounds, but she has blossomed into a joyful, funny, caring little gem

Actually you are encouraging because of the loving pit that you brought into your home and loved her. That says a lot.
