This is Lions Rock in South Africa. They have received numerous rescued lions and other big cats already from all over the world. This is just a temporary camp to adjust. They will later on go to a bigger camp with trees, etc. They are very thin now, but will put on weight as they decompress from their previous life and settle down.

My parents never took us to the circus when we were young, when asked why they said they're not going to pay to watch grown men force animals to do acts that are not natural for wild animals, my friends thought my parents were crazy for not taking us but I'm so thankful our parents raised us to have compassion for animals, I never took my children to the circus and gave my kids the same explanation, my kids have rescue animals just like they did growing up,I am going to rescue two more dogs because shelters are overwhelmed with animals everywhere, I know I can't save them all but at least I can give them a loving home.

They actually don’t appear too skinny. Generally the will be fed pretty decently. However, when they are cubs, often times their owners try to keep them small for as long as possible, just providing milk as a main substance whuch then leads to degenerative bone growth. You see the one lion his severely bow-legged. That’s most likely from malnutrition as a cub.

Zoos are one of those things that can be made into something bad. but zoos can also do a whole lot of good.
There are plenty of zoos that are responsible for rehabilitating and bringing back many species close to extinction.
Not to mention, a lot of these animals that are facing habitat destruction, poachers, etc., can get better medical and overall care in good high quality, well regulated zoos.

To see the two lovely creatures finally "living free" (so to speak) simply tells me that there are still humans in this world who value all wildlife and who are willing to do what they can to bring joy to creatures. Way to go, Peru!
A really good circus doesn't need animals. The practice started when seeing an elephant or a lion was a novelty, an attraction to exploit for tickets. Since then, animals have protections from most nations and aren't hunted to be kept in captivity. Breeding seems to be the way private individuals get their own lion or tiger. Zoos will breed animals that are endangered to enlarge their populations.
I love the idea of using trained domestic animals, like the cats in that Las Vegas show.
