My late husband was like this with all our cats. I asked him once if there was a fire in the house who would he save me or the cats? All he said was, “ you would know your way out of the house.” 😮😂😂😂. Some people just have that feline magic.

We had a fire alarm in my apartment building I ran from my cousin's apartment which is the fourth floor to the other side of the building to make sure my hamsters and my guniea pig were okay. My mom was pissed. I told her you can save yourself, they're babies and are completely helpless. Then she asked who would I save her or my guinea rats as she calls them. I told her I love her. She's still using that one against me. 🤣🤣🤣

This is how my late husband was with his cat lol. His silly house panther was 100000% his baby. Now the cat is my baby. We don't have the exact same bond, but we got much closer having lost the most important man in both our lives. Currently have the clingy fuzzball curled up next to me. The complete trust and love of a small animal is a priceless gift ❤️

I read someplace that a cat forms a strong bond like this with only one person. That they can like other members of the household, but only share that tight bond with one person.
@@zukini8763 It is true I think. Cats are mysterious creatures and it depends with whom they click. If someone pets them exactly how they want or they feel cosy to sit around you they are mates for life. But I think in every animal if you give them love they will love you back no doubt. Dave here has a soft spot for this girl's boyfriend though.
For real though. At some point they're going to break up. And you know she won't let him see that cat anymore. It's really really really really really sad for the CAT
When 18 years ago Pinky was born, she wasn't breathing and I blew some air into her tiny nostrils....she grew up to be a wonderful friend and a beautiful cat and today still she can't be far from me much. Cats are wonderful.
I have a gorgeous ragdoll girl named Pinky! She was the only one born out of three with a pink nose, so of course Pinky aka Pink-Pink 😂. She just turned 6 years old on October 18th and since the day she left her mom to explore us, she chose my husband as her hooman. I love her so much and she does love on me from time to time when he’s not in the room. But the moment he walks thru the door she’s all his 😢 lol.
You just reminded me of something similar... My fiance and I had rescued a cat off the street. He was pretty aggressive, and when he wasn't hitting or biting someone, he would just be curled up on the bed snoring loudly like he owned the place. One day my fiance and I were watching TV in the bedroom with the cat curled up at the end of the bed snoring loudly. Suddenly I realized he wasn't snoring anymore. His body also wasn't moving at all. I freaked out! Luckily, my fiance jumped into action. He tried to wake the cat up but he was limp. So my fiance started breathing into his snout like idk maybe he thought that's how CPR is done, but miraculously the cat came back to us! My fiance literally breathed life back into him. Ever since that day they were inseparable. His whole personality changed when he was resuscitated. The cat became my fiance's shadow and followed him everywhere, nuzzling and cuddling with him every chance he got.
I can't help but imagine the first moments of Dave's life from his little newborn perspective, animated like a Pixar/Disney movie...what a dramatic move. Your first moments of life you're suddenly in danger, when a hand bigger than your whole body scoops you away from certain death, holds you close, and returns you to your mother...
Even if Dave can't explicitly remember this moment, it's no surprise that he loves Jackson, and that his scent means safety and love.

My husband they rubbed against his legs and hopped in his lap. I knew then he was a good man. Keep this boyfriend he's cat approved.

Meanwhile my ex said the same thing about her families pet dog and other men except myself, whilst he immediately came up to me and wanted me to pet him (even tho I honestly do not even really like those small handbag dogs with obnoxiously high-pitched voices very much). Queue a few months of „I love you more than anyone“s and „I am certain about this long-term relationship just like you“s and she decides that „she just can’t imagine us spending time together without having s**“ and I should just „compare our relationship to an expired phone contract“
No wonder my cats were not showing interest in her at all.
Same with my wife's cat. When he's not sleeping, he's actively seeking me out, sitting on my lap, following me around the house, etc. Even when I leave the house he goes down to the door and meows like crazy for 10 or 15 minutes before finally giving up lol. I keep joking that I'm going to file a restraining order against him for stalking. 😂😂😂

@@kristofnagy1373It definitely helps that Jackson was there when Dave was born. Dave almost died and was saved and probably closely associated the smell of Jackson with his mothers and of safety. I cant imagine being there for their birth is required, but I cant imagine getting this compatibility by just picking cats at random.

My cat Julia was definitely the third wheel in my relationship with my fiance, Eliza. I called my cat "the other woman" in my life. She was so devoted to me, and would get jealous when I was with my fiance instead of her. And yet, Eliza only wanted to be friends with Julia. The cat did warm up to her, but she still saw her as competition for my affections. I sadly had to put Julia down back in March, but Eliza and I are planning to get another cat or maybe two next year, we will see. I work from home, so I can be with whoever we get. But, we're looking forward to new fur babies to officially start our family.
Go for it! Go to your local shelter and adopt. Julia would be happy for you by saving another life.

Getting two cats might be a good idea, especially if you get kittens. Let them select you, so you have one each! They'll also be able to keep themselves occupied (you only need to worry when they're abnormally silent ;)). Whatever you choose, whenever you choose to do it, I truly hope you find as much love as you had before x

I'd never seen such a strong preference before, but last year my son's first serious girlfriend stole the heart of our big foster-daddy cat! When she slept over with him, Nehemiah kitty started complaining loudly whenever he couldn't be in her lap, and when they broke up and she wasn't here any more he mourned for months. Our kitty LOVED that girl and lets us know how much we don't measure up!

I envy this so much. I was there the moment my cats are born, I feed them, took care of them, gave them a home, and a comfortable life away from danger but all three of them never showed me that kind of affection, also I've never hurt them one bit. All I get are bites, scratches, and hisses. It's been a year and a half and their attitude towards me never changed. People always say that a cat choses you but I guess being there the moment they we're born doesn't count. I'm planning on putting up for rehoming so they could be with a family they actually like.
A year and a half of hissing, that's not fair at all and it has nothing to do with you and likely more with their environment. That's why I'm not a cat guy, they're just too flighty and seem to acknowledge you only when the can opener starts whirring. Visit an animal shelter and allow your next pet to pick YOU. If you really want a cat that's fine but maybe go for a little doggie this go around. They're mans best friend and they're loyal and awesome, good luck.
When you have that many cat siblings the receive a lot of cuddles and affection from each other, so you might not be that welcome. How was their Mother? Affectionate or on the wilder Side?
If I isn't the environment, it might be that they need som extra socializing. I'd suggest raining them to accept food from your hand and work up to petting them while they are eating. It might take some time though. For my shelter cat it took about two years, but now he even sleeps in the bed.
Don’t take it personally, they will warm up to you.
Jackson was the first human he had contact with, before he could see. Someone that nurtured him like his mom. What can you expect?
My brother got a cat from the shelter four years ago. She's lived with me for three. He finally gave up driving the ten miles to pick her up from my place. Best shadow I've ever had.

This cat is so stinking cute!!! I have a cat like Dave. Luke decided I was his person almost immediately. He and his sister, Leia (and NO, we didn't name them), were actually adopted by my sister. From the start, Leia was attached to Sis, and Luke claimed me. It would be fine, except I am allergic to cats. Bring on the Flonase and Benadryl!

Rescued cats seem to be some of the sweeter cats when raised right. We had one show up (on my sisters birthday no less) in our backyard came right up to us and chirped a little bit, clearly starving but friendly. Almost forced her way into our house and lives and is the sweetest creature on the planet. Love when this fellas find good homes

We adopted a young cat from a shelter and i've put in countless hours to get him out of his shell, now he's all over me, always. I cant do a step without him following me, rushing towards me to greet me everyday. My mother lives downstairs where he often is aswell, but she cant touch him much, he accepts her as a treaty source :D
My sister, who lives in the same town, visited him a few times, not too often though, and had better interactions with him than my mother had, kinda felt sorry for her.
My sister goes along with anymals very well, but all my friends call me the cat whisperer because i could even cuddle with the stranger shy cats that didnt like to get touched.
I love him to death even though sometimes his attraction gets a little overbearing ^^
