    another great vid, 3M pps for me, been using them several years, never thrown a liner away yet, the ones with 2k get used for putting screws etc for strip downs in body shop, water base ones get kept with common colors or rinsed out for primers later if time.
    you can buy the lids for pps seperatly or now i think they doing them with extra lid options
    over standard gun pot vs liner system its a no brainer, i also use the liner system at home in my own garage saves huge amounts on thinners and excess waste

    Sata rps at my shop. Even after pre straining waterbase through 125 micron, you still get junk pushing through pps screen due to the cup being pressurized. Sata rps retains the original design of the gravity feed spray gun. Flow rates are an improvement with rps.

    Great video! Just take note that 3M will be releasing a new cup. And would you guess, it looks almost identical to the RPS cup. They are being tested in California. There is a painter on Instagram who posted a few videos on them.

    Spraying with the gun upside down may not be a thing when painting a car but for us airplane guys it does come in handy.

    Gunny as mentioned previously the DeKups are a great system, too bad they don't offer them in Australia. I got a sample kit with around 10 liners, filters and plugs for around $30 as I recall and have really liked the throw away aspect vs. cleaning a pot. Use them on my trusty Eastwood Concours gun but that one is now relegated as a primer gun since I bought a Tekna Pro Lite on your recommendation. Will shoot my first project with it soon but an awesome tool and excited to try it out.

    Great video Gunny...NOw here is a good question (since I bought one)...How is the 3M PPS system GUN with the changeable tips? More cost but wondering how you think it sprays ? and at 20 PSI at the gun instead of 28 or 29 ...an easier load on my compressor...BUT how does it spray base and clear ?

    Love your video's. Question: did you just spray a coat of clear over the door and then immediately spray another coat on it? Why? And did not realize you could do that. Thanks for the time in making these vid's to help educate.

    I've used both types at different body shops I'm a pps guy the one big thing that I hate about the rps is the air cap on the bottom the amount of times I've left my gun hung up in the booth come back and the cups empty and the booth filters and wall are covered

    awesome review as always and good timing mate I was able to catch it be the flight out. I use my standed pots most time but occasionally I use the rps we have them all set up at work. couple of tips for others using them. you old 2" tape rolls save them and use them to store your rps cups up side down in them reason for this is 1: they won't fall over 2: keeps the filter wet if it days it gets crusty and shit gets in your base and then in your job. Also rps are washable so can be used muiltable times I have got over 20 uses out of one cup and filter. so huge saving there.

    Hi Gunny! Maybe i`m a little late, and maybe you already know, that Sata 4400b has same side QCC "threads" than full size Satajet. I like RPS cups are better than 3M PPS or any other, because RPS cups are so simple to use.. Thank you Gunny!

  • @LocoFabandMachineworks

    Hey gunman. Great vid, I'm only a back yard hack doing restos on my cars and some mates.
    I run the sata rps cups, you can push your cup in all sorts of directions, just push on it you won't hurt it.
    Also just a heads up you can by a copy of the sata Rps from eBay. Very hard to tell the difference except it comes in plain packaging, it's still marked as Sata rps. I was getting them for 46$ aus for 56 cups and lid/ filter setups deliver was around 20$
    Heaps cheaper then buying them from a paint rep

    I am using RPS at the moment but prefer pps I have found when you dispose the pps liners in the bin they take up less room instead of filling up your bin with cups
    If you keep paint in pps cups on the bench for later use they tend to become brittle when you go to use them
    Where as paint kept in pps liners and cups on the bench are better and are more safe to use
    The other day I went to use some pre mixed water Bourne grey that was in my RPS cup and it cracked and it spilled all over the bench so in my opinion I prefer pps

    • @tomspecht4733
      @tomspecht4733 Před 6 lety +1

      Your comment said pps cups get brittle where as paint kept in pps liners and cups on bench are better. What did you mean there? I think one of those you meant as rps but no clue.

  • @svenmcgee9582
    @svenmcgee9582 Před 7 lety +2

    Using pps style cups theoretically convert your gravity feed spray gun into a suction feed gun. Turning your expensive sata etc into a $150 suction gun. Internals of the Sata spray guns are engineered specifically for Gravity feed pots. Not sure about lower quality brands.

    • @danhenderson783
      @danhenderson783 Před 7 lety

      Sven McGee A gravity feed gun also draws paint by the vacuum created at the nozzle. Using a PPS upright feeds no differently than a regular cup. This is easily demonstrated when turning the PPS equipped gun upside down and pulling the trigger. The vacuum at the air cap is drawing the paint.

    Hi Gunman, I have been using 3M PPS for some time, and when I was introduced to The SATA RPS system by a Sata tech rep he explained and showed me so much more. I believe that the Sata cups are so much more versatile. I suggest that you get someone that really knows about them before you review them yourself. I appreciate that you said that you preferred the sata cups but you haven't demonstrated the benefits at all well. e.g check out flow rate using product, not water, checkout the flexibility of the neck while attached to the gun, this feature has always been there! To topup, leave the filter section on the gun and remove just the cup, don't forget to squeeze ,close airvent and suck the paint out of the gun first, it couldn't be easier.

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  Před 7 lety +3

      +Experience Counts did you do the flow rate test? People just seem to follow like sheep believing there's an improved flow rate without any proof. Holdout upside down doesn't prove much because the air sucks the paint through with no adverse effects in PPS, thanks for the feedback though and maybe you could make your own video. I didn't realize I could bend the RPS pot but when I did it just bent back while painting anyway and can hardly see any benefit from it either. Versatile like painting upside down?

      Hi mate, I greatly appreciate the feedback and have taken it on board, if I was to ask myself the same question I know the answer would be the same as yours. I have always done product reviews though and is a big part of what my channel is about but I must admit it did get pretty expensive buying things that I really didn't need just so I could review them so the partnership is mutually beneficial and does seem to make sense to me, most of the feedback if not all has been positive from anyone who does deal with SGD though and I do honestly believe they are a good crew up there providing great service and competitive prices, if I didn't believe that then I doubt I'd be doing what I do with them. Maybe I could just do a SGD delivery video every time I get something new from them, make a mention to them and the products I've got then in the review just focus 100% on the product, not where it came from. I do hope you continue to watch and apologise if you feel like you're being force fed unwanted ads.
