A young man transporting a car to another state is stalked along the road by a cunning and relentless serial killer who eventually frames the driver for a string of murders. Chased by police and shadowed by the killer, the driver's only help comes from a truck stop waitress.
Driving someone else's car from Chicago to San Diego, a young man named Jim Halsey picks up a hitchhiker with a taste for murder. The police, unaware of the real murderer (i.e. the John Ryder), blame Jim. Ryder shows super human powers in his destructive spree.
What remake? This will always be the one and only Hitcher film!!!
I actually liked the remake but still it doesn't hold a candle to the original.
This movie is awesome...Hutger Hauer was terrific, and I love the car chasing scene.
Rutger Hauer was amazing in this along with the real stunts(NO CGI) and brilliant storyline!!

I agree. It's my favorite movie, aside from Die Hard but can we please get a 35 year anniversary edition. I mean, the legend Ruger Hauer is sadly gone, so in his honor just give us a 4K or even a blu-ray with some digital enhancements to 2160p or even 1080p for the beautiful desert landscapes Robert Harmon so amazingly filmed and some commentary or deleted scenes from the 3hr workprint. Just something better than the DVD.

This film is an absolute classic but unfortunately they ruined it by bringing out a remake. A only watched about 10 minutes of the remake and then turned it off cause it was pish! Hollywood need to stop remaking these old classics there never as good as the originals.

I love the way the gorgeous Rutger Hauer just shoots the heli down with one shot like a total badass. Sean Bean is such a clump. He takes about five or six shots to get the heli down lol 😆

Honestly, they're both good- I haven't seen this original movie in full yet but I think the remakes cop chase scene was better. :D I gotta watch this though. Hitcher is a pretty good movie, I just hate that ending in the remake... it's like wtf

The remake is shit. It’s all about the pretty sexy girl getting her happy ending by shooting the big bad Hitcher while pouting and being all pretty 😆 I prefer this. Jim was absolutely bereft of feelings at the end of this. The Hitcher had taken away all of his innocence.
