      Just goes back to what I like to keep reminding folks: there is no single "best" aftercare regimen or solution! It's whatever works for you.

    I just got my first tattoo two days ago now, and they gave me this stuff. DEFINITELY agree that it feels super tacky on, but strangely enough I'm fond of the smell??? just keeping my fingers crossed this stuff works well for my new tat, thanks for the informative video!!

    Checked the ingredient list online (with, of course, the same disclaimer you put in here) and I can 't figure out either why this would be sticky. There are plenty of oils in there..
    Great video as usual!

    Personally I don’t have a problem with a tattoo lotion not containing spf. I’m pretty diligent about applying sunscreen, so I’ll reach for it when I need it. Otherwise I’m usually applying lotion at home and don’t see a need for spf. Thanks for the review!

    Sounds like it's really meant for brand new tattoos. I have just bought some as my artist recommended I avoid petroleum based products which rules out the bepanthen tattoo ointment and the lubriderm that I had bought in advance based on all the recommendations I found in anticipation of my tattoo appointment. My intention is to use this until I'm at the point where it's safe to switch to suncream, and by then I might be ok with the lubriderm (which I also used to moisturise my skin in the week leading up to my appointment, and I feel inclined not to let the bottle go to waste once my tattoo is externally healed). I was able to return the other bottle of lubriderm and the bepanthen unopened.

    Just started following you, awesome videos please keep them coming.. My tattoo shop uses the Tagaderm patch. I leave it on for three or four days and then once I remove it I use Dr. Bronner's baby unscented soap to clean the tattoo and I also use After Inked which has been very good for me. Quick question though, how long do you usually wait until you start washing a new tattoo with regular body wash? I usually wait a few weeks before I switch over to regular body wash but was just wondering if two weeks is enough time? Thanks..

    • @Inkademic
      @Inkademic  Před 4 lety +2

      I wait until I wouldn't avoid using a shower scrubbie, basically. That's about three weeks, typically, but it depends on the kind of work.

    Hi! Great videos! I was wondering, how did you choose the design for your tattoo? did you already know what you want or did you work together with an artist to create something? I really like the japanese irezumi style, but I want it to be more... "toony" or stylized? I'm not even sure if there's such a style.
    Thanks! Keep making em!

    • @Inkademic
      @Inkademic  Před 4 lety +1

      I'd always wanted a full sleeve and kept coming back to the same subject. I met with an artist suggested by my most recent artist because she felt the ideas I had matched better with his style than mine. We talked, he asked me questions about my tastes, my favourite books/artists/etc (a consultation), and after that I just let him do whatever he wanted with a couple very minor suggestions/requests. I normally didn't even know what was being done that day when I walked into a session. 😅 I'm glad I trusted him because it came out amazing.

      @@InkademicThat's awesome! I guess trust and looking for the right artist is the most important thing for a big piece like that. Did you have to go over a lot of drafts to reach the final design?
      Thanks for the reply! Subbed btw!

    • @Inkademic
      @Inkademic  Před 4 lety +1

      @@KC.321 Never went over a draft at all :) I made a couple little tweaks here and there before each session started (ie, "move this down half an inch" or "would this look good in red?" and so on). The whole thing was done in stages over the span of about two years. It's an intense piece 😅

    I know there is some controversy about this but how do you feel about teenagers getting tattoos? I'm finally getting one on my birthday this year (17 yrs) and I've done my research, and I've come up with a pretty solid design I think I'll love for years to come.

    • @Inkademic
      @Inkademic  Před 3 lety +1

      So, I don't actually think it's all that controversial. My belief (generally speaking, not just about tattoos) is that, if you're making a choice for you and it neither impacts nor harms anyone else directly or indirectly, you should be able to do it. That said, if the law states you have to be 18 to get a tattoo, then you should follow the law and go to a professional and reputable artist. I got my first tattoo when I was 18 and it was, until I started working on my sleeve, the largest tattoo I have. Do I regret it? Not at all. If I had to get another tattoo in that same spot and same size now, would it be something different? Certainly.

    Surprised on your review. This lotion is one of the ONLY tattoo lotions that for me doesnt go on greasy. Its always easy to over apply lotion on new tattoos which clogs pores during healing and slows down healing time. You say you dont notice its on.. but its greasy.. wouldnt that mean you notice its on cuz its greasy? Compared to shea butter and other lotions that give tattos a wet look, i find After Inked does what your skin needs and moistures enough without going on heavy.

    • @Inkademic
      @Inkademic  Před 4 lety +1

      I meant visually you can't tell it's on. At least, I couldn't. The greasiness, like I said, for me, is more on the hand you use to apply it but the product that's rubbed on the tattoo just feels tacky. It's weird (and also a review unique to me, of course; just goes to show how different peoples' skin is, I guess!).
