1/4/24
I have a checkpoint on the other video but i wanted to put one here since the space was available lol.
In short, if i don't fail horifically suddenly, i will be graduating college. Honestly, it doesn't feel real especially when i look back at my first comment on that video I was apparently really stressed out about a test (about the future even) sophomore year.
But I'm still here. And im about to finally leave school.
This isnt the same check point that I started in but its a checkpoint all the same.
And checkpoints mean you can always start again.
Remember that. Nothing is ever over until you finally turn your game off.
If anything goes wrong, this is the new checkpoint

@@the-god-of-fun I know, but I know there’s repost
So if those get taken down, this one, probably shouldn’t get taken down since it’s like a remix or something
Ah a good bone fire to sit and listen to this spectacular song.
Oh that’s a good point! They generally can’t strike arrangements
Wow, you straight up just translated the song 1:1 into real instruments, I've never see anybody arrange this song like that before. You're unbelievably talented.
Wait, what real instrument was the bassline?
PPF does a great cover of DK2 songs in the same way.
They do the best covers over there!@@user-ik8vy1rg8f
Um what about PPF? He's done many covers with real instruments.

When I played DKC 2 as a kid in the 90s, I would pause so many stages just to hear the amazing music. This track never gets old.
Me too. And i used to close my eyes only to hear and relax.
Yeah same for me. Did you know that there was a move in the menue you could listen to all the songs?
David Wise has said he originally wrote this for an additional water level that never materialized. I always associate this song with water because of this. I think of just floating calmly and peacefully on the waves. The instrumentation on this version is gorgeous.
Now that I read this I can totally hear it being a water level
I love that David Wise is always like "Oh, a water level, hm? Let me bring the fire!" :D
Dkc gotta have the best water levels in all of gaming
The Sopranino Sax high notes…
How can an instrument sound so beautiful?
You clearly have never heard of Olivier Franc.
Practice
It's only F#2 in sopranino. it's quite easy to play, but why he played sopranino? It's only B2 in Soprano. Sopranino is maybe most difficult sax to play in tune.
If the same note was played by a soprano, it would be much easier and would even sound more characterful. I don't know. Maybe that sopranino sounds more original.
Beautiful!
Hey there! 👋
Thanks bud! 🤗
@@InstrumentManiacminecraft
I need to stop being an instrument sane person and become an instrument maniac. The amount of instruments I don't play is ridiculous.
Doesn't matter Sam - you play guitar like a God.
Oh also, goddamnit your Chrono Cross album is insanely good. Especially Another World.
Don’t listen to him, Sam, stop being one note and learn your aaz some jazz horn
Stickerbush Symphony is a piece that always brings a tear to my eye. I never played DKC2, but... the feeling that the piece carries makes me feel nostalgic and lonesome. Like I'm so far away from everything and everyone, stranded in the ocean on a clear, starry night, with the ocean reflecting the sky. The best way to describe it is a beautiful loneliness. You know that the pain and emptiness won't last forever, but while you gaze into that dark star lit sky, your soul feels an ache that it kind of just... accepts. And you drop your guard and let whatever sadness you've bottled up out. That's what this piece does for me.
such a good description :)
I always thought of it as a feeling of creeping, melancholic yearning. A very interesting choice for a kid's game about monkeys questing
Me too, it’s beautiful
A Beautiful Song but quite the Brutal Stage theme in DKC2 so many bramble thorns everywhere
You should give it a shot! The song from this level is brutally difficult but the music makes it feel okay. I have so many memories of playing this level with sweaty palms and a high heartbeat but ultimately being relaxed by the music.
checkpoint: just finished highschool after years of repeating it. i had a lot of mental issues that i had to deal with, and it came in full swing during the pandemic. i nearly offed myself multiple times, but i got through it. my family has been very supportive all the way, and i'm just really grateful they're here. my grandma recently beat covid after needing to be hospitalized. im glad she's still with us, she's been my number one supporter for as long as i can remember. i turn 20 in 24 days, january 30th. maybe this time, it'll be better. it WILL be better. hopefully i can get a job or go to college so i can support my family. i never say goodbye under the assumption that we'll meet again. see you later.
game saved.
A late but happy birthday!
I'm a big fan of David Wise and all of his work. Stickerbush Symphony is my favourite of his entire career and so I've listened to a lot of different versions by different artists. I can say without any doubt that your version is by far the best of them all, you not only recreate perfectly the essence of the original song, but you also improve the feeling that comes from it. Very grateful for being able to listen to your version, congratulations for your work.
I was about to write a similar comment, but yours perfectly captures what I wanted to say to @InstrumentManiac. Thank you for your work, and for sharing your passion with us.
What's amazing to me is that he made all the DK Country music with the sound limitations that consoles had back then!
im not sure how but this song has the the deepest sense of urgency and calm adventure.
😮 omg. Never thought of you playing this VGM masterpiece but now I can't wait. Will I cry? For sure. Will it be amazing? Without any doubts.
Hope you like it! It’s such a beautiful piece of music
@@InstrumentManiac Aquatic Ambience Next please?
@@Kuhleb12 thats what this is im pretty sure
@@Awssom Aquatic ambience is different, it's from Donkey Kong Country 1. czcams.com/video/L-14jmUtjE0/video.html
One of my favorite musical themes from the original SNES Donkey Kong series! Excited for it!
I got goosebumps listening to this. The accuracy touches my heart.
This sounds incredible
Small note, but the way you edited the string insteuments so we could see the vibration waves in the strings was a REALLY neat touch that did not go unappreciated
That might just be the frame rate of the camera. Still a really cool effect though.
The sopranino sax was the most beautiful sax sound I’ve ever heard in my life. You can adapt so well between instruments and have that good of a sound on all of them. This makes me want to get a sopranino sax myself 🎷🥹
I Remember my mother... She used to like so much this stage because of this song. Thank you.
damn you are lucky my mother thought I was mentally ill for playing video games 😒
Yeah, I remember your guys’ mothers, too! HEY-yooooooooo!!!
@@BeanieKing I'd be mad for ruining this wholesome moment but damn that was savage 10/10 XD
That soprano sax part is just heavenly. Love to you, man.
Me and my dad always watch your latest videos! I taught my dad who has a music degree how to play undertale and then we started watching your videos. Thank you for helping me and my dad bond over things we both love!
:')
This is the best cover yet
I have a save state dedicated to this level, just so I can sit there and listen to this fantastic symphony. It fills my heart with relaxing happiness.
Man, you just made me cry with a good feeling. Holy shit, I'm crying with good nostalgia. THANK YOU!
And YES, I noticed every detail that you noticed and managed to reproduce.
I want a 20 hour version of this, it’s so calming I could fall asleep to it
whether this is the SNES original or the smash remix i'm looking forward to hearing it
Not only is this an incredible iconic song, you absolutely crushed it! The harmonica was incredible! I was completely blown away by how well it fit in!
The harmonica and clarinet call and response was beautiful
i love this music + i love your work = i'm hyped
😊❤️
Could you please do Forest Interlude next? Its another masterpiece by David Wise!
yes please!
Totally, all of the yes on that! Such a hauntingly beautiful melody.
I don't know, man. I'm not ready to cry.
Absolutely beautiful! I think this is the best rendition of this piece I've ever heard. Excellent work!
Wow, thank you! 😊
@@InstrumentManiac Whoa there. ... you're too hot to be expressing this much actual talent. 👅😛
I never played any Donkey Kong games, but since the music has been used in the background of so many CZcams videos, I'm always surprised to realize how many I actually know.
This sounds insanely chill!
david wise is a genius in composing memorable melodies especially with the limitations of the hardware at the time
If you never played any of the donkey kong games especially the first one you've missed something really incredible as a millenial. I understand though if you are older but as a millenial this was basically the epitome of our generation
Before this even goes live, I'm going to have to request a 1 hour version of this. Could listen to this forever.
right click then click loop
the instrument choice is perfect, as well as the volume balance. Love it!
Thank you for this beautiful display of pure talent in recreating my childhood. This song reminds me of when shit was crappy Dk and Diddy Kong were there to make me smile.
I wonder if this is going to be used as that "checkpoint" video as well...
I would be honored if it was 😭✨
Best Donkey Kong theme let's gooooo
This is one of the classic dk songs. Not because it's the best, but because it encapsulates the core of exploring and finding your rhythm.
This is my favorite video game melody. I've heard it played live at conventions by bands, listened to dozens of renditions, heard it on the original SNES via box TV and variously emulated... but this is possibly the most creative version I've ever heard. The theremin and Omni... on top of all the instruments... bravo. 👏🏻
Absolutely love this cover!!!
I bet Timber Hearth from Outer Wilds would be amazing adapted by you! Would love to see that someday (Also if anyone reading this hasn't played Outer Wilds definitely give it a shot ::)
Yes, we need some Outer Wilds cover on this channel !
Outer wilds music would definitely be awesome.
Oh gosh or 14.3?
Oh my god, i love the use of all the non standard intruments, like the suprano sax, the omnichord, and the theremin!
one thing I love about your covers is the masterful mixing and mastering, you somehow bring together such unique instrumentations yet everything sounds beautifully cohesive. another incredible work!
Ah thanks Twix! I struggle with mixing and mastering all the time so I really appreciate that 😂🙏
Ficou fenomenal... Essa melodia já é top demais, você ainda conseguiu personalizar do seu jeito, sem perder a essência do David Wise. Você é fera demais. Parabéns!!!
I ❤ DKC. I hope you do more covers of this series, I'd be very interested to see what you could do with fear factory or maybe Aquatic Ambience using that instrument that you used in the Hip Shop video (I forgot what it was called). Even if this is a one off I'm pleased that my favourite platformer series of all time gets represented on this channel
The omnichord will be returning with a new electric friend 👀✨
Wait my mind was fusing together Aquatic Ambience and Stickerbush symphony again. Omnichord on Stickbush. No Omnichord on Aquatic Ambience, I can't see that working.
Instant chills. My favourite song from this childhood game just instantly gives me goosebumps and the hardest wave of nostalgia everytime I hear it. Thank you for covering this incredible song so beautifully! I'd be lying if I said it didn't bring a tear to my eyes.
Glad to give you the retro feels :')
The blend of soprano sax and harmonica is butter. 🧡
Checkpoint. I miss the original checkpoint video, but this, this is beautiful and I thank you.
I really love the Double Bass ❤
I would absolutely love to see a rendition of rosalinas oberservatory or perhaps sealed vessel from hollow knight
This is much needed. Lost my job of just over 6 years last week, 3 days before my birthday. I'm at a rocky point in a career field that I've given nearly a quarter of my life to. I do bear at least some blame for losing my job, but some things are easier to handle than others, and military life stays with you like a scar you just can't get rid of.
Here's hoping things will turn around and for the better sooner, rather than later. We all live to learn, and sometimes the lessons of life hit harder than we expect. But, you can either quit, or pick yourself up and be better off for it.
Stay strong, remember, we need to get across a downpour to have a beautiful day later. Best regards
@@dmnsonic Thank you. I start up at a new job (same field) on Monday, 6 May. Here's to the hope it lasts at least a year and I should be able to launch off into something I'd rather be doing than something I simply have to do.
Honestly loving your words at the end so much. This is my favorite track from the DKC-series especially knew how frustrated I was back then playing the level but in the end, started to relax as this tune has got such a soothing touch.
Unbelievable how old that track actually is and still holding it so close whenever I hear it. Thank you for the awesome cover and will leave a like onto it!
Happy New Year! Thank you so much for making this year so special with your sounds!❤🎉
😊😊
Epic. By far the best cover of Stickerbush Symphony that was released today!
I have never done drugs, but If I ever did, I would have this playing in the background. Ethereal, nostalgic, and perfectly remastered!
Saw the xylophone thumbnail, figured sure I can listen to another rendition of Stickerbush Symphony, but had no idea what I was in for. As the instruments kept being added my jaw was dropping and I was smiling from ear to ear. Excellently done. I am thoroughly impressed and you deserve many subs.
If you do more Donkey Kong songs, you should definitely do Fear Factory and Aquatic Ambience!
Yessssss those ones are soooo gooood 😭👏
syncing the camera fps with the harp is genius. You've done it again good sir
♥ those lil' floppy strings
This is just an amazing performance of this piece. It has such fucking care and attention to detail! It just really puts into perspective how important it is for art to move you.
Im very chilling... almost crying... This is incredible...
This is gonna be a banger theme, thanks for filling up yet another year with your phenomenal music! Happy new year Luke and Bandwagon! (PS Rudebuster when?)
This is an excellent song. I didn’t anticipate a cover but it is very much appreciated.
Best "cover" of Stickerbrush Symphony on the internet! Been looking for this for a long time! Thank you for the painstaking accuracy. And an etherphone for the glissando? Too cool!
Oh may GAWD this is the best Stickbrush Symphony cover EVAR! You actually used all the appropriate instruments... wow.
Esse cara é pica mesmo, toca todos os instrumentos, ele faz a orquestra dele 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Oh wow. I never thought I'd get the same kind of feeling as I did when I heard PPF's version of Stickerbrush Symphony for the first time, but here we are. Fantastic work!
This is the PPF version but with expensive instruments XD
Absolutely loving it!! One of my favourite arrangements from you yet! Keep up the good work :)
literally subscribed 41 seconds into the video man, my jaw dropped to the floor. this is incredible. you are incredible. keep up the amazing work.
Okay guys, time to start writing about our place in the universe! We're at the checkpoint after all...
God I love this so much, it's incomprehensible
The best orchestral music channel I have had the pleasure of knowing
Dude, you cut no corners with this one. Excellently done!
Never played Donkey Kong…
Guess I gotta listen to one of their songs now
Listen to Forest interlude!!!!
i honestly love this video, from the music to the editing.
Its great
This is the fourth video I watch of yours and it earned my sub. To hear this classic tune redone in modern high fidelity with its multitude of instrumentation is absolutely charming. Looking forward to what comes next
When the drumbeat kicks in 😍😍😍
Tremendous work 👏👏 You are an astounding musician Mr. Pickman.
Thanks Brendan!
Wow, incredible result! I’m excited to check out your other stuff! This sounds and looks so good.
This was amazing, great job with the blend and hitting really really close to all the sounds on the song with the instruments!
For new games and themes, I think you should take a look at Chrono Trigger. Some of my all time favorite video game music comes from that game and my favorite piece from it is Corridors of Time. You have no idea how hyped I'd be if you did a cover of that!
Yessss it's on my list to do at least one this year!
YOU DID IT! YES! I WAS SO HOPING YOU WOULD DO THIS SONG FOR SO LONG!!!!! THANK YOU!
I can die happy now.
Edit: I'm literally crying. God damn it.
Glad I was able to cover this one for you! 😊
I love this song. It feels like a meandering conversation, every phrase of it feels like a call or a response, whether it they are talking with someone else, or with only themselves, like a flow of consciousness. The "voices" you here are giving the instruments are so pretty! Absolutely breathtaking. Thank you, this does David Wise justice 🤍
Wow, just wow. The atmospheric feel of your arrangement is incredible. I particularly love your use of the theremin.
This gave me chills. So good. I always feel like I’m in a different time and place when I hear this song and you definitely captured that.
Wow...I got Chills listening to this Masterpiece 😩🙌🏾. You did an amazing job at capturing/recreating a Classic 🙌🏾.
Having never heard the original, I was yet again amazed by the piece and your implementation. Having a theremin, harp, sax, harmonica and accordion all at once was indeed incredible...
Oh my gosh. The theremin has ARRIVED!!! This made my year already. Can’t wait to see you continue to come up with crazy ways to include it!!! Bravo!!!!!
Gotta say, was skeptical about giving this song a listen when i saw it in my feed. Glad i did, realized its not the songs that you cover, but the covers you do that i enjoy.
Great work as always, stoked for what else you've got :3
Favourite track on the game. Well done!
Mine too! I like the way the chords change.
Man, this is absolutely incredible. The strings have such a soft floaty feel that mimics the pads in the original perffectly, they really feel like they're breathing. And the gated accordion sound is brilliant. I'd love to hear more david wise covers from you, maybe Aquatic ambience?...
This is beyond incredible. I've heard so many covers of this song but I feel like I'm listening to it all over again for the first time. Magical
This is genuinely incredible. The song itself is a masterpiece and it is performed so well here. The shots are so nice as well. 10/10 amazing.
I heard this on my way to work and jammed the whole way. You made so many good musical decisions. I know youve got be proud of this one, it is beautiful
who else remembers listening to this song on loop as a kid on the snes? even back then i knew it was a bop and would still be recognized as such for decades to come.
Absolutely. Just boot up the level to... not move the character at all and instead just listen to the music ❤
This was so beautiful. I wish I had more friends that could appreciate such incredible talent.
So moving. So inspiring. Thank you for making this! ❤
I'm so glad CZcams recommended this. To be so talented as to make a classic song of the 16 bit era come alive like this is truly a gift. It's a truly an aural feast.
I've gone back and watched your other songs and they're all so magnificent! If I could humbly recommend Terra's Theme (Overworld) from Final Fantasy VI as a future cover, I'd love it.
Every video you put out is an absolute banger, but this one was 100% my favorite. Keep up the amazing work, it doesn't go unrecognized ♥️
I’ve been getting some nostalgic videos like this in my feed lately. But this one hit me hard man. Brings back memories of playing games with my late brother when we were kids… thanks. I’m crying, but thanks.
Oh my god. Not only does this sound immaculate but its also shot beautifully. One of the best video game covers I've ever heard!
