I started watching wrestling during his "reign of terror" days. One thing he absolutely did during that time is to make the World Heavyweight Title feel important. His obsession with that title was entertaining to watch.
That’s a new take on the reign of terror, I like it! Usually people shit on raw from that era
Totally agree. WWE has never done a better job at building the company around a heel champion. It was weird for a lot of people to watch because WWE had always been a babyface territory. His job was to make the title matter and get a select few future stars over. And he did.
It was all....taken....away from me.
That I think is what many people write off about it, they immediately go straight to the Booker T storyline and disregard the fact that, a champion with an extreme obsession with being champion makes the title look like it is the pinnacle of success. The title genuinely felt important when Triple H held it as he would do anything to keep it. I would rather have another reign of terror rather than have another Brock type schtick where someone holds a title but doesn’t nearly make it look as important as it should.
I call that version of Triple H the Goblin King, my man was like hunch backed screaming at people was great
HHH in the year 2000 was an absolute badass. HIAC matches, Street Fight, Iron Man match, dude was a tough S.O.B. Also, his MY TIME theme is awesome.
His best theme for me 🔥
His best theme forsure!!!!
I would say 2000-2002 was the best versions their obviously more than one
McMahon Helmsley hhh was the greatest version . He was the mvp of that era
Want some……..this on?
I don’t know what it is about him, but they knew how to use lights on him in his entrances better than just about anyone. Really made him look like a monster
Stone cold, Taker, Flair and probably Rock and Undertaker are better entrances
@@Taquilou relax
It’s gonna sound insulting but the nose really does a lot. Just a huge shadow across his face cuz of his schnoz lol
The Game persona was his best work in his WWE career; especially in 2000. He and the Rock carried the company that year
Their feud that year is legendary
@@carter3369 he was in his words “That. Damn. Good!”
The year Triple H figured it out
factz
Unpopular opinion, rock vs hhh was better than rock vs austin feud.
2000-2001 Triple H was an all-time run. I’m lucky to have been able to see it play out.
I'd say you can add late 99 to this run from summerslam on.
2000-2001 HHH after the Austin reveal was a different beast - i don’t know how to explain it but the aura was different to the post WM 1999-early 2000 HHH.
@@JBC02 yeah I have to agree with this. I can't find it but the pre-taped promo that ends with "the man who said we have nothing to fear but fear itself -- he never met me" is peak triple h.
2000 hhh with stephanie 😁❤
Trips belongs in the GOAT conversation.
Triple H was ALWAYS my favorite and no one will ever come close. He mastered his craft, and even as a heel, he was always extremely popular with fans. He’s one of the best heels ever, and was ALWAYS entertaining and unpredictable storylines constantly that kept you tuning in!
He was so jacked up in 1999-2001. His body was a masterpiece.
I will never forget the joke about Chris masters how to lose 50 pounds in two weeks lol.
I agree one of the best bodies in the world
Attitude era Triple H was amazing. The game was born during the attitude era! From leader of DX to the game!
The 99 to 2000 HHH is his best version. He was such a heel but I still cheered him on!
HHH in 2000 - up until his quad tear was next level. He seriously was one of the best wrestler I have ever seen during that time.
Randy Orton was the best heel
HHH’s best promo work was during the Authority Era. Everything he said still holds up today.
His best promo work was during his feud with The Rock in 2000 imo. The golden era of wrestling.
As a 2000s kid that ruthless aggression triple h was my favorite
One thing is undeniable his badass entrance
That late 99 and early 2000 heel run he was vicious and cussing everybody out on the mic😂😂😂😂
One of my favorite wrestlers of all time. To this day, whenever I’m going to start a workout on my home gym, I annoy my wife by grabbing a bottle of water, playing Motorhead’s The Game and spit/spraying water all over the house. 😂
Triple H in 2000-2001 was his most timeless version. If that version of him was around today, he would have had the world titles for over 2 years - he was that good.
Triple H feud with Randy orton 2009 and Shawn Michaels 2002 was epic
Agreed!!
His heel run from spring/summer 1999 until Armageddon was his best. Especially that "I AM THE FUCKING GAME" promo
Still remember standing up the entire time when Triple H returned in 2002
He was so fuckin huge
Plus that pop and JR and King delivering the goods on commentary
*You guys talk about being students of the game!? I AM THE FUCKIN GAME*
The Game 2002 Rocks!!!
Most definitely
2002-2005 . He played heel very well until I feel like I wanted him to lose but he kept winning with evolution
Yea
my fav version of HHH is def The Game version (late 99-mid 01when he had the Quad injury). That was his best work imo. He peaked around that time. He was on another level around that time with the heel heat and feuds. My fav rivalry of all times is Rock-HHH from late 99-mid 00. Also, HHH's theme music during 99-01 was dope as fuck (My Time, then the instrumental version's of it in late 2000, then The Game theme in 01). 2nd I would go with Leader Of DX (98-99), 3rd, The Return (2002)
The Game 99-01 was the best, he was that damm good! He was the ultimate heel
Ripple Hechhh is dat damn good!
My favorite HHH is pre-quad injury Cerebral Assassin.
He took the wingman role in D-X's original run but was more of the leader when they reunited later on.
Definitely had the best match at WM 20 with the triple threat match vs Benoit and HBK
I just looked at them as equals at that point.
Shhh they don’t use that name in association with wwe
@@JJ-gr7th so it was a triple threat match with HHH vs HBK.
Contrary to popular opinion, I love Triple H's reign of terror.
I agree
A lot do. It was pretty good other than the steiner stuff
@@cerebralassassin2185 And what did he do other than the "steiner stuff"? He delayed RVD's rise to the top despite him being constatly over with the crowd, defeated Booker T clean in a feud with heavily racist implications, killed Goldberg's momentum so hard he left the company, had a feud with Kane that revolved around him being a necrophile and basically turned Kane's character into a joke, and finally nearly killed Randy Orton's career upon birth
The last DX run did give us the "I just kicked Stan" moment, which made anything else absolutely worth it.
2006 to 2013 Triple H was Crazy AF 🔥🔥🔥
Dude was an absolute workhorse in 2000. No one was putting in the kind of quality work the he was.
IDC what anyone says, the reign on terror wasn't as bad as ppl wanna think it was, Triple H being psychotically obsessed with the WHC made it feel important. When he dropped it for good in 05 it was downhill from there.
The reign of terror helped birth 2 superstars. That was a heel faction done right with a great payoff !
@@MR.__G Randy was turned into a superstar by Undertaker and Mick Foley. His feud with Triple H was so bad he had to tun heel again immediately after that.
@@alessandrodebonis4888 Randy being apart of evolution helped give him that opportunity with taker. Randy was a character no one gave a damn about in shut your mouth.. once he associated with evolution we all started to notice him & his popularity started to go up.
2000 HHH was a menace complete with his My Time theme
Imagine that Hunter Hearst Hemsley gimmick with William Regal.
That woudda been dope & hilarious
Triple H in 2000 was the best. Him and the Rock feud was one of the best ever! In fact 2000 was the best year for WWE period!
Just wanted to ask why did you remove the video of all the times cena talked to the camera it was a really great compilation man
"My time" I always get goosebumps hearing that theme.
1999-2000 Triple H is goated
Evolution HHH is one of the greatest characters of all times.. definitely HHH s legacy
Reign of Terror Triple H with his 20 min promos 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍. Best part of my life.
Definitely between late 1999 - 2001, the whole backstage drama with Stephanie really made his career. He either had to play her game or it was a done deal for him.
Please do more of this series!
Triple H is the only one to have wrestled Sting
Goldberg
The Rock
Stone Cold
Hollywood Hogan
Kevin Nash
Scott Steiner
Booker T
The Undertaker
John Cena
Ric Flair
Brock Lesnar
Shawn Michaels
All the top wwf/wwe guys & wcw guys
Maybe besides Big Show the only other guy I can think of
“You guys talk about being students of the game!?” “I AM THE FUCKING GAME J.R.!!!”
The king of kings 🔥🔥🔥
Great video 👏👏👏
3:47 Yes 1999 Corporate Ministry HHH was my favorite. 11:47 even though I wasn’t born back then 97-98 and 98-99 DX was my favorite incarnation of the group. The Game 1999-2001 was my Man
A rare powerhouse technical wrestler
I think Triple H will be remembered the same way Michael Jordan was. At the absolute apex of their respective professions
Nah stone cold or rock would probably be Jordan of wwe
@@Roxm-jy7pmNah neither of them, it would be most likely either Undertaker or John Cena
@@blackx715 definitely not cena, undertaker and SCSA would be considered the Michael Jordan of wwe/wwf
2000 was the best year for Triple H, that My Time song was his best theme to
Attitude era Triple H during the McMahon-Helmsley faction was my favorite.
That rivalry in the PG Era between DX and Legacy were some of the best tag team work I've ever seen and DX even put over legacy in a match
One thing about triple h is he never had a dull moment on tv .
I loved the blue blood gimmick.
Remember when wrestling toys came with weapons? Triple H came with a shovel.
He’s my favorite wrestler an at the beginning I was sketchy about checking this out. You absolutely nailed it. I started watching 2002 an that’s my pick for his best but you having it second had me clapping. I was thinking what’s no. 1 then you say right before you watched an man I love that I’m about to go an check what he did week by week lol. Thanks 💯! Great video. Got a new sub.
When he was evil he truly pulled that character off perfectly I really thought he was possessed when it came to him and that heavyweight championship.
Good vid
I’d love to see one of these videos on all of Mick Foley’s different personas.
14:30 That gets me every time 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Please keep doing this series. ❤
You can't deny his accolades that makes him top 5 all time.
Perfect ranking 💯💯
When he became the GAME. The 🐐
this is very accurate. thank you i enjoyed your video
When he returned from his quad injury in 2002
the one he feuds with batista
Glad to see all the comments with the right answer. Late 99 to early 2001 is clearly the best version.
HHH of 99 - 01 before his quad injury was the best heel of all time. His feuds with the Rock and Austin were amazing as was the era itself!
I like wholesome dad HHH that we get to see sometimes.
Best is that 2000 era heel HHH BEFORE his injury and return in 02.
King of Kings was cool af
the 09-10 dx run was gold
The McMahon-Helmsley Faction 99-01
I've nearly always have been a fan of Heel characters, was a good guy fan for the first couple years (1986-1988 or so), and proud to say I have been a fan of all versions of Triple H in WWF/WWE. I didn't watch much WCW when he was there so there is that but yeah for me he has always been a badass! When China debuted with him I was super stoked and thought what craziness is this but I loved it from the get-go! When he came back from the first quad injury in Madison Square Garden for me it was The Best Return ever in my time as a fan and always will be my most favorite! Anytime I think about it, to this day I still get goose bumps! I don't disagree with your worst to best placements but I'd rather say from Best to Very Best! lol
HHH is an absolute legend. He legitimately has done it all. Some of the best feuds, McMahon storyline, Evolution, DX...I mean come on. He was entertaining as fuck. He makes my Mt Rushmore no doubt
1998 will always be the best Triple H. People forget that the episode that finally won back the ratings was I believe the D-X tank episode. Triple H had a direct hand in beating WCW, and without him? I don't know if things would've gone down the same. WCW may have had a few more years in them, if nothing else. They were still doomed with the constant nWo stuff but, they finally stopped that a little too late. Without that Triple H D-X push to kick off the WWF comeback, they mighta lasted long enough after nWo to get back on track and find a different buyer, or convince AOL Time Warner to keep it. But who really knows. All I'm saying is, Triple H as European Champion feuding with Owen , The Rock, and the Nation of Domination in 1998 was better than anything the constant DQ match boring repetitive NWO was doing by 1998.
I do think 99 2000 he was amazing too, the entire attitude era he was almost on the same level as Rock and Austin and Foley in importance. Triple H is number 4 on that attitude era mount rushmore to be. Ruthless Aggression era Triple H got extremely lazy and relied on blading too much. His matches often weren't good, he was selfish with the world title, and he also had a massive ego that lead to him getting wrestlers fired or buried constantly, or ones he tried to have Vince not even hire in the first place, like CM Punk. Him marrying Stephanie always was gonna make him have too much power, but Austin and Rock basically retiring from full time wrestling for good by 2003 was what really did it. Then Angle got hurt, they were in the middle of building up the next generaiton of Batista Cena and Orton, and until then, Trips had to dominate 1 of the 2 brands for a good 2.5 years.
This was great. You should do undertaker too. Stone Cold. The Rock. Shawn Michaels.
People can talk about Trips using Stephanie to get ahead and the Kliq, but he was absolutely was one of the best heels for over a decade. I don’t like him either, but I respect his work
Peak hhh was the evolution days but my favorite was the blue blood gimmick 💪
Best : All
Worst : None
HHH : Cos I am the Game and I am that Damn Good !
Well, that's what i imagine he would say ....
I would’ve loved to see Austin and HHH main event WM18
Thats the only thing missing from his career, I so wish we could have gotten him vs Austin in a WM main event also HHH vs Rock in a one on one Mania match
They dropped the ball there. Austin should’ve won the undisputed title vs Jericho. hhh won the rumble that year so it would’ve been set ! hhh could’ve brought up the last time him & Austin were in the ring he beat him twice in the same night. The story was already there & it would’ve easily been a better main event than what we got.
I also feel hhh vs rock should’ve been the main event instead of that McMahon 4 corner crap lol
The cliq has been around a longtime before hunter joined them, that's why he is so different then the rest of the group, couldn't get any more different
Thank you so much for this video! King Of Kings is my favorite. In my opinion, the second greatest of all time
I always liked Hunter Hearst Helmsley from 95 - 97 and Triple H from 98 - 2002
WWE 2K24 should be about Triple H and should include ‘06 / ‘07 Randy Orton
“Roman Reigns, however, wasn’t as over as Daniel Bryan was” yeah, I guess you could say that
14:30
hunter caught in 16k
I agree with this list 100% except I'd switch 2 and 3 spots. But near perfect grading!
Most successful version of hhh is from 1999-2001
Most fun hhh is 97- 98 DX
Triple H the Kobe of the WWE
Man I wish he didn't have to retire but with covid happening and him having his heart problem it was inevitable. It's just the way he had to retire which was disappointing 😢. I wish he could come back for one more match for a proper sendoff. But thanks for playing the Game Triple H 😢 you're one of the best and one of my personal favs. Also the Game, DX Version, Cerberal Assassin, Evolution, Authority Figure, and King of Kings is always favourite version of him although I wish he didn't use my time 😂😅
The late 1999-pre Evolution 2003 HHH was the best version. Specifically the year 2000
2000-01 Triple H is my favorite
2008. He pinned Cena clean twice
With the exception of number too this video was dead on
I love Triple H and his Spinebuster is probably my favorite non-finisher in wrestling, but he pretty much has the same match every TV. 20 minute slow paced matched. Dragging the guy around slowly and targeting a body part. At some point, grabbing a sledge hammer from under the ring, (Why there would be one logistically for setting up a ring, I have no idea. Secondly, you know Triple H is in the building. At some point it’s probably a good idea to get them all out of the arena before showtime.) He’ll look at the sledgehammer menacingly, and if he hits someone he covers it with his hand, which, let’s be honest, has always looked dumb. It does two things. One, you either are going to hit someone with a sledgehammer. We know you won’t do it because it’ll probably kill them. Or number two, we know you’re going to miss on purpose or hit them with your hand covering the ball of the hammer because, again, death and prison. It’s like throwing punches in a match. It’s so horrible and should have stayed banned. Because who is ever going to be scared of a man that hits a guy who isn’t even trying to cover his face, (which goes against every defense mechanism humans have, by the way,) Who is going to fear you if they see you hit a guy in the jaw and the temple, both places that only one decent shot needs to put someone out, and they just saw you do it 10 times in a row and the guy slowly recovers and is either still standing or already getting back to his feet. He lets the baby face make a come back, then distraction, cheap shot, or kick to the stomach and pedigree out of nowhere and end of the match with HHH standing on the turnbuckle with one hand holding the belt high in the air. The other hand pointing at his chest while he’s yelling. WWE logo shows up, HHH’s music slowly fades. End of RAW. If you pictured all of that perfectly, congrats. You saw Triple H’s entire ring work. And yet, I still love the guy. Flair is even worse, I guess that’s where he got it from. Work smarter, not harder. And look where he is now. Good on you Trips.
Wish the The Two Man Power Trip run could of last long if it wasn't for his Quad Injury
Always enjoyed trips’matches. Paul was actually pretty good in “ Blade 3”.
I never seen that movie but I agree about the matches.
Handlebar mustache triple h is my favorite
Real HHH fans know the pattern goes like this ...
#1.2000
#2.2002
#3.2003
#4.1998
#5.1997
Triple H vs Lex Luger would of been a great dream match.
2008 will always be my favorite
