1998 stone cold legit got the loudest pops every week and it wasn't even close.
The rock beat his pops later on
@@itz3ree-z706I always like to say that Austin and Rock lead two halves of the attitude era. Austin lead the first half from 1997-99, Rock lead the second half from 2000-02.
@@Big_3000 No, the rock took over by 1999 -2002
@@itz3ree-z706 id say Austin from November 1997-November 99, Rock from November 99-April 2002. But to be honest, there was a period from late 2000 to early 2001 where they both had legitimate cases to be the top star.
@@Big_3000by end of 1998 and the rocks heel turn, the rock was getting cheered as well as booed, but fans were well behind him, first quarter of 1999, The Rocks face turn made him the biggest superstar in wrestling history, also doing a single with wyclef jean ‘it doesnt matter’
It's such a shame that due to his retirement we never got to witness Stone Cold have rivalries with top superstars John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, Batista, Edge etc.
@@carter3369Bad take.
I think he was in the right time frame for his style. The Rock would have had better matches with those guys
Mehh, leaving you wanting more isn't a bad thing.
Except The Rock. No one was close to Austin's lvl
It was a crying shame that we had the 2 greatest at the same time with him & the Rock and their peak was about 5 years max. Can’t believe they were both gone by 2003, for different reasons of course but at least they can both say when they left when wrestling was still the best thing on TV
At the age of 31, you forget how brief of a period all those memories made in the attitude era truly was.
The rock only 4 years, stone cold only 5 to 6. It's amazing how little time people need to become iconic and considered the best when allowed free reign.
Actually Austin took frequent sabbaticals from the ring during his reign on top
@UndergroundSkat2000 I can totally see that because of his neck. Still insane that one of the best. If not THE BEST era in wwe since hogan slamming Andre was so short.
If you notice, in the 90s, nothing lasted very long. Then you get to the 2000's onwards and everything lasts forever. I don't know why this has happened. Every 2 years in the 90s looks like a totally different WWF. Where as, apart from the performers you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between a 2010 WWE show and a 2023 WWE show.
The Undertaker went through about 8 versions of himself from 1991 to 2001. Then he came back as the final form and stayed EXACTLY that way until he retired. Everyone in the 90s had short runs. Bret, Shawn, Austin, Rock. Roman's been a champion longer than someone of them were in their entire run.
@TheDanielShepherd and that's why it is so insane to think about. Back then I was a kid and had no responsibility and so it felt a lot longer to me.
Now 6 to 7 years seems short but a longer career then most in wwe.
1996-Mid 1997 Stone Cold was very unfiltered and move set was more versatile before SummerSlam 1997. Imagine If we had that version throughout the Attitude Era and beyond.
Does anyone else ever realize how much Austin has done for the business & just cry like a baby? Especially during emotional video packages or when you see it all together like this. He gave so much, he's the absolute greatest of all time.
They all did especially Taker...
If Stone Cold never had the neck injury, I truly believe that he would’ve stuck around in some capacity up until 2011. Very part-time after 2005 though.
Thus you have to look at the parallel of Takers career and wrestlemania matches at the time
Little credit is given to how good Austin was in the ring. Though after the devastatingly carrer ending neck injury his style became more of the brawler. His each journey from WCW pairing with Brian Pillman to ECW making shoot promos to finally then WWF, he made quite a journey. Frankly his style of promos during his fued with Bret and later Rock were the best moments of Austin's legacy. He did add Brian Pillman's loose cannon gimmick Anti Authority heel gimmick to his own.
8:20 the rocks face moving with the what is HILARIOUS!
7:09 they both broke character 😂😂😭
The dream of Stone Cold and the Rock coming back kept me watching for years...
Wasn’t lucky enough to watch stone cold from 96-98-99ish, seeing as I didn’t start watching wrestling sometime around 99. But to me, my favorite one was 2000-2001, just before he turned heel and joined the alliance
Steve didn’t begin using the stunner until 6 months into his WWF run when it was given to him by Michael Hayes, whom originally gave it to Jimmy Garvin in 1994, which is where Mikey Whipwreck picked it up.
1996-1998 Austin was in prime. He was the biggest star in pro wrestling during that time. He surpassed Hulk Hogan by a mile and because of his persona people like The Rock and Taker adopted tweener personality instead of superman hogan gimmick
Because Saggitarius rule the earth, that's why... you're welcome.. do further study
The face of the company and the what era will always my two favorite versions of Steve Austin
Yup
One of my favorite matches was the Sone Cold vs Dude Love match where by Vince McMahon’s own hand counted the 1-2-3 after having the odds stack against him.
I like the Attitude Era , Heel , GM & the Alliance/What gimmick versions of Stone Cold & damn even in his young days he was great on the mic this was a great video. #BMF #DTA #WHAT #SCSA
2:07
Let's be honest people, seeing Steve Austin with hair looks so weird now.
His marriage to Debra fell apart due to her manipulative and controlling behavior (preventing his kids from visiting him, leaving him stranded at arenas, etc.) mixed with his own personal health issues and professional frustrations. The domestic violence allegations didn’t raise their head until weeks before he sought to file for divorce from her.
Heel Austin number 1 from me, yeah it was bad for business and all they stuff everyone said but it made for the most consistently, wild, funny and absurd segments in wrestling history. Slightly relatable as well I must say
1998 to 99 was his peak. He was still great until 2001 and of course he had Mania 17 with the Rock but because of the neck injury it was never the same again after that 2 year period
These vids you do are really put together well. The time you take to put all these clips together makes your vids really good. Keep these vids coming
Awesome Video, now please make a video ranking Chris Jericho's Gimmicks.
Far as I know Stone Cold is the only wrestler that drove 8 different vehicles in the arena man it's crazy.
Undertaker has about half of that... he comes in a casket, motorcycle, chariot, and a Hearst lmao...
What a great video man 🥺🙌
So entertaining. Both. Austin and your Videos....❤
12:47 it’s crazy that two architects of the attitude era of wrestling were in the same tag team
Definitely the version we’ve always remembered him for (that we saw in 1996, although, technically, made his WWF debut in late 1995), that played a colossal / whopping / gargantuan role in (exactly said era’s initial year) 1998’s ‘attitude’ era - bald head and goatee (signature move the ‘Stone Cold Stunner’, and theme ‘Hell Frozen Over’).
The pan to the head never gets old 🤣
I had no idea that the "What?" chant came so late in his career. With how widespread it became, I assumed it was something that had to have been tied to him when he was at his highest in popularity, considering how well it stuck with crowds.
I watched wrestling starting with the wccw which I remember with fondness and I also though didnt know the what started so late. Vince mcmahon was right although rock was a close second stone cold was the goat
🤦♂️ 25:58
I remember watching this happen and just shouting at the TV with my friend "Please! Just pick up the chair and hit Vince with it now! Fine, just use the title when he turns around and everything will be ok!"
But of course that's not what he did, that's not what he did at All.
😅👍
97 Austin
dude was little talk and all stunners!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The version of Austin that fought Bret at Mania 13 and the version that had the cage match with Vince that busted him wide open (a little while before Mania X7) were the two best Stone Colds ever. It's a shame what happened with his neck, there could have Easily been one more All Time run for Austin before "hanging it up"
Also, Surfer Sting is the Best Sting.
😅👍
I actually enjoyed heel Austin what? I said enjoyed heel Austin....what?
When he took his ball and went home. “I didn’t see the point.” Hahahahaha!!!
Everyone knows '98 was peak Austin. Although '97 Stone Cold had skills in the ring too.
I like 2001 heel version of Stone Cold the paranoid rattlesnake.
96-98 was peak Austin when was first becoming stone cold and the bret hart feud to the early days of the Mr mcmahon feud were the very best stunning steve was awesome to weather in the Hollywood blonds or on his own
intro is really fn cool
LOVE IT
20:51... geez that shirt owen is wearing is some creepy Ironic shit... RIP Owen...
In my opinion late 1996-1997 is his best work especially vs Bret at WrestleMania 13
I've always heard that Stone Cold was a great in ring wrestler yet I was never impressed with his work in the Attitude Era, but I never connected the dots that he had to change his style after his neck injury. All his great work was (unfortunately) before his rise to fame.
With that said, in the video it's said that he changed to the style that would define the Attitude Era... so would he have still gotten over so much if it never changed into the brawler style that fit his character more?
The what era was quility. How it ranked below stone colds guest appearance is beyond me!
1997-2001 was the Stone Cold Steve Austin Era 🔥
Loved Austin before the injury...after it, his matches, his angles and the whole company became ludicrous. #1 for me is Stunning Steve, every match was unique
The GOAT, my childhood hero, and a wrestling legend!
Heel Austin was soooo funny 😂 that version almost became my favorite
Ok now I see where he got that TV Land Promo from🖐🏿
Paul really can smell talent
10:56 Listen to Vince 😂😂😂😂
????
Great
Oh wow. I definitely wasn't expecting the Ringmaster to be at the top of your list.
It wasn't...it's at the very bottom, ranked #10.
@@XThirdEyeX You can't fool me. I watched the video and the Ringmaster was at the top of the list at number 10, and then they worked their way down to number 1. I saw it with my own eyes.
@@jimsheppard3166 Exactly...I'm not trying to fool you. It was ranked #10, as in the last spot, at the bottom, not the top. They just started with #10 and counted down to the #1 top spot.
love Stone cold and the What erra
favorite austin is Heel run 2001 and WHAT Austin and gm of raw
What's the intro song?
I didn't know there was any more than 1 version
Frankly beside nWo, which was an inspiration from the NJPW and not his original idea, Eric Bischoff had no idea what he is doing, why he was booking certain talents, and that's why EB led to demise of two great wrestling firms..... The short run success of WCW should not be considered a great decision because going concern is a principal for any company and the 2 or 3 years of being at top doesn't really count. Calling SCSA not a marketing wrestler, poorly utilising Sting, Bret Hart and ending the streak actually showed us what a failed manager/decision maker Eric Bischoff was in hindsight.
I didnt know austin was a paul heyman guy before....😂
The "What"? Era is just fun to watch.
Punk steve in ecw was pretty cool
they keep saying stunning steve austin in wccw but he got the moniker in uswa in the sportatorium. of dallas
The best ever, has the merchandise sales record, ticket sales record, PPV buys record, was voted superstar of the decade back in 03 and just cpl years ago was voted greatest of all time.
Least favorite is ring master. Favorite is hard cause i liked the head rattling Austin but think he stopped doing that after neck injury. Comic Austin was great too. Any version from 1997 till he retired were all great.
Dang Steve got that kind of physique with a single can of tuna and raw potatoes. I’m have to try that. 😂
Food js different now than back then, especially canned tuna dummy..connect the dots will you
DTA, BMF, 3:16
Easy, late 1996 Austin/early 1997. It wasn't as good when it got too popular. The mainstream loved him but the act was a bit stale for me through most of the 98 onwards with McMahon. I liked it when it was fresh and raw.
22:10 what segement was this
97 Austin is my personal favourite
Brother, please do this for Mick Foley
Alliance Stone Cold was most entertaining in my book. They should do videos like this for other wrestlers.
Greatest star in the greatest era
To think he sat on top while you had a young rock taker hhh Shawn Michaels kane kurt etc him rock and taker are all my number 1s
Stone Cold with long blonde hair is cursed
Next shawn Michaels kurt angle batista brock sheamus punk styles please
I have a soft spor for stunning steve austin in the uswa and his feud with gentleman chris adams. Each week Chris adams would insult stunning steve austin saying his name is steve williams and i had to loan him a pair of my boots it was the top wrestling as a kid
Austin was Destined to Beat WCW.
The bald one 👌
Might I suggest not doing worst to best and just do them in chronological order?
97 stone cold is the best !!!
Damn...I still can't help but wonder how everything would've went if his neck had not been broken by Owen. 😕🤔...would anything have been different? Be about the same?...or...would ALOT have been different?? 🤷🏻♂️
I know this is besides the point but how does one eat a raw potato?
See Creed Bratton
And that’s the bottom line because The Ringmaster said so!
Theres 10 versions? I thought it was only 3
Because i know most all of you dont know this..... SCSA and DMX have the same birthday... you all are welcome, now things will make more sense to you all..... WHAT!?
Clearly it was the Ringmaster.
Stone Cold Steve Austin is The 🐐
The Best Version Of SCSA was SCSA
The what-era started in 2001.
I think there could be an argument made for 11 versions of Austin......you skipped over his Hollywood Blondes run with Brian Pillman (RIP) while he was Stunning Steve.
The hell are you on about? Number four is Hollywood Blondes…
@@tkh525 So it is, I guess I cut it early, my bad.
He was good right up until he turned crybaby sadistic heel. Other people loved it but it was annoying to me
His stone cold name came from his wife
How can return legend be on 5 , come on
What?
Whaat?
the what version
Wm 38 😂😂😂😂
Hated the what bs
What?
Didn't receive
Who?
Whut
What! Stone cold was the worst
98 stone cold is the best ever, of anyone...ever
The fact that taker lived his character, this is a hard no... I love Austin too because saggitarius rule the world... but no
