    I watched many of your videos as a huge fan of retro stuff. Especially like the room assets and the environment one. Truly outstanding work Summer. Any plans to upload more often?

      Thank you for your interest to my works! Glad you like it. I would really like to do this more and share something like this more often, but the difficulty is that I have a main job unrelated to 3D, which takes up a lot of my time. But I will still try to find time for this, because it is like an outlet for me.

      @@Summmer85 Completely understand! Been there... :) Please do. It's not just the assets you make. I really like the style of your videos. Truly capturing the essence of that time. The animation in the beginning reminded me of one of my favorite games from the childhood - Little Big Adventure 2 from Adeline software. Btw, I threw a couple of coins towards your cause on Patreon. See you in the next video.

      @@mixlaproduction Yes, besides just making models, I like to create some kind of story or scenario so that it is more cinematic and makes more sense. This is very exciting to me.
      I've never heard of Little Big Adventure before, but I'm glad I could bring back good memories for you. And thank you so much for your support on Patreon, this is very inspiring and helps move on!

    Amazing as always! I wish this had come out a day earlier. Haha. I just released a video of a recreated location from Silent Hill in Blender. The back half of it is just gameplay on the in game TV set. I thought about making a PS1 to put on the ground for added flavor but scrapped the idea.

      Thanks, glad you like it. It was ready yesterday, but I didn’t have time to upload it :)
      Just looked.Just looked. Very nice music and I can clearly see the Silent Hill graphics without shaders.I don't really understand how you recreated this, because I saw something similar, but there people simply loaded original files from the game directly into blender.

      @@Summmer85 I pulled the trimsheets from Giromancys Silent Hill Environment Viewer project (definitely check that out - I think he used Crocotile 3D rather than Blender) and UV Unwapped them to Planes and arranged/adjusted them as needed. I’m pretty sure my workflow is garbage so I didn’t even bother with a Timelapse video. Haha

      @@PostcardFromADream I think it would be interesting for many people to open one of their favorite games and explore it. So, please try to create a time-lapse video one day. In any case, it's very cool, I can see the textures in their original form and can learn as if from a school textbook."

      @PostcardFromADream Před 5 měsíci

      @@Summmer85 I’ll keep that in mind for my next one! It would certainly push me to be a lot cleaner in my execution. I think I’m gonna step away from Blender for a bit and open FL Studio again, as I haven’t worked on any music in a while. Maybe I’ll do something small like the drawbridge control room or school bus. It always amazes me how much detail they put in all of their textures. I’m working on some original scenes too, but hitting a point where I’m not sure where to go with it.

    So you texture first without reference and then apply the UV onto the texture? I've never seen anyone do that before. I really want to know how your thought process is these because the texturing is great

    • @Summmer85
      @Summmer85  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your comment!
      In this case, yes, first I completely painted the texture, as I was well aware that the model itself was quite simple. I outlined the parameters for each side in pixels beforehand, allowing me to easily create rectangles and other shapes in Photoshop later on. I had a reference - my real console. I already did this work before creating before creating the time-lapse, so I had a rough idea of the sequence of actions.
      However, this isn't the only approach. Sometimes, I first model and then paint the texture onto the UV map. Perhaps there are no clear rules and you can just be flexible.

    • @protophase
      @protophase Před 5 měsíci

      @@Summmer85 Thank you so much for answering! Have you considered making tutorials? I want to learn how to create custom textures like you do but there isn't super much information about this specific style available. There are a few channels that focuses on making ps1 style models and textures in blender but they are quite few and not all of them are very good, it's kinda a lost art at this point. I feel like you got a different approach and the end result is often higher quality than most. It would be awesome if you shared some of your knowledge with us.

      @@protophaseThank you for your question! I'm definitely planning on trying to do some kind of tutorial since a lot of people have already asked about it. This is not the easiest task for me since I have never did anything like this. But this kind of feedback inspires me to do it one day. I would really like to do more of this, but it doesn’t always work out, since I have a main job that takes up a huge amount of time. But for now I can highly recommend @StarkCraftsYT because my retro graphic adventure way started from his channel.

      In my work, besides using Blender, I also use Photoshop and a graphics tablet. I understand that not everyone has the skills to draw on a tablet, so I will probably try to minimize such actions.
