Thank you for this!!!! This was what I was trying to figure out before buying the pattern!!! (And eventually the stuff to do it!!! :D first a new working sewing machine!)
Normally I do not sand. I do the three layers of base coat and that’s it. BUT I have noticed on days that are humid it needs some sanding after the second coat has dried fully then I top it off with another coat of base. Hope that helps!
I really love CZcams for this sort of thing. This is exactly the sort of information that I was looking for about finishing edges!
Without the base coat, you won’t get that smooth edge. The paint is just leather paint and won’t smooth any uneven edges

@Ren Reidy how/where did you get the spider?
The spider is an embroidery file for a snap tab that I hacked to make it work as a flap
Do you definitely have too use as base coat
Yes, you don’t get the same finish without it
@@SeaminglyWicked could you just do two coats of the same color, or do they have to be a white base and the finished color?
What is that stuff called? Where can I find it?
Giardini base and edge paint. Buckle Guy and Fabric Funhouse sell it in the US
Where do you get your vinyl?
