    Pros
    - Folding drone with included carrying case for portability.
    - Relatively inexpensive for a brushless GPS drone.
    - Weighs only 207 grams, and does not require FAA registration or RID.
    - Brushless motors.
    - GPS automatic return to home and landing on command, loss of signal, or low voltage.
    - Optical flow system provides automatic hover indoors.
    - 7.4V 2200mah battery provides up to 20 mins flight time (I got 16 1/2 minutes).
    - Optional laser obstacle avoidance sensor is very effective outdoors, reacting at a good distance to objects in bright sunlight.
    - Includes a HD camera with up/down gimbal. Recorded video is 1080p at 20fps.
    - "Rx Drone" app provides viewing and recording of video and photos directly to your phone using 5Ghz WiFi. The app also includes advanced flight modes of circle me, follow me and waypoints. App is available on Google Play here bit.ly/Rx-Drone and on the Apple App Store here bit.ly/3RV43zo
    - Controller range is advertised at up to 1200 meters. The controller includes a built-in 3.7V battery (no need for providing your own batteries). The controller also includes a LCD screen that displays telemtry information of GPS status, satellites received, signal strength, drone distance, and drone height.
    Cons
    - The 1080p is not the best quality. Remember that this is an inxepensive GPS drone, mainly meant to help beginners learn to fly.
    - The app requires a phone capable of using 802.11ac 5Ghz WiFi. Not all phones have this capability. Before purchasing, first verify that your phone can use this WiFi.
    - The drone does not have a memory card slot. Video and photos can only be recrorded to your phone using WiFi. Potential WiFi recording limitations include frame skipping, video freeze, and limited FPV range.
    - The recorded still photos are 1080p frame grab photos interpolated up to 4K (7680 x 4320p). Interpolation does not provide any enhancement to the quality of the photos. It is merely for marketing to allow claiming that the advertised recording capability is 4K.
    - The Rx Drone app is rather buggy. Advanced flight modes of Circle Me and Follow Me did not work properly. The drone would physically follow me, but would not point the camera in my direction. Also, I could not get Circle Me mode to work at all.
    - The laser obstacle avoidance system is very sensitive, and can detect and react to objects at a great distance. This causes a problem if flying the drone close to the ground (below 6 feet). The system can react to the ground at low altitude, preventing forward flight. To counter this, just fly higher.

    I saw your video on using the XIAOMI Mi WIFI Amplifier and was wondering if there is a way for the controller to connect to the extender and just have the phone receiving the video? Your thoughts. Thanks Richard

      It wouldn't work because the controller does not use WiFi. Although in the same 2.4Ghz band, the controller's signal is analog. The relay only works with digital WiFi.

      Thanks.. I was looking for a way to increase the range. I really do not like using the phone as a controller.. Guess I will just have to get use to it.. Thanks again.. Richard @@Quadcopter101

    I bought this drone but it keeps reversing into furniture with the OA module fitted have you tried flying it indoors Q101 I am curious if yours does the same thing indoors that mine does? I don't think the optical flow is working on mine as it crashed into my mirror indoors can you run more tests with it as you seem to be better flying than me, thanks.

      Infra red obstacle avoidance sensors don't work with mirrors or windows. And yes, they tend to overcorrect indoors in restricted spaces. But even if it did work as expected, I do not recommend flying brushless motor drones like this indoors. Those motors are powerful, and can cause hurt if you run into pets or people. Recommend outdoor flying only in an open area with this drone.

      @@Quadcopter101 Thanks Q101 it's just a little frustrating for me we have had nothing but rain or wind here In Scarborough England UK don't have any pets just me, but yes I agree, just waiting for good weather and an opportunity to fly outdoors.

    Looks like SG106 with sensor

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  Před 8 měsíci +1

      The box it came in says SG105. But the SG105 has an IR obstacle avoidance sensor, not laser obstacle avoidance. I guess that's the main difference. The SG105 also looks to have dual front cameras (am guessing one of them is fake?).

    Sir,
    Can the drone connected to 4G version phone? Or it need 5G version phone

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  Před 6 dny

      I think that you're confusing 4G/5G phone data networks with 5Ghz Wifi. The "G" in 4G and 5G refers to technology "Generation". 5G is the fifth generation data network.
      5Ghz WiFi is a totally different thing and is unrelated to 4G/5G data networks. Specifically, this drone requires a phone capable of using 802.11ac WiFi (which happens to operate on 5Ghz frequency). To see if your phone uses 802.11ac WiFi, simply search your phone's name along with the terms 802.11 and specifications. See if 802.11ac shows up in the search results.
