Now this is what I call an affordable drone. At least I can practice flying it and if I do damage to the drone, I’m not out big money. I have watched other videos on CZcams from other channels and the title says affordable for beginners and the prices at 600 dollars and higher. That’s not affordable. Thanks for the video this really helps me being on a fixed income.

For any beginner stating out, you cannot go wrong. I remember four/five years ago drones under $100 were a waste of money. Many kids will love this, for sure.

I got the S96 and had zero issues with it. It’s limited, it’s cheaply built, camera isn’t great, etc. but it’s survived being piloted by an 8 year old and it’s dirt cheap.
The S99 looks like a mild upgrade for the same price.
If it could link to FPV goggles it would be a winner for backyard FPV with the kids.
I totally agree. After owning two s96 drones that were piloted by a 7 year old and a 43 year old with no flying experience, I have no complaints. Yes the video is far from good but I paid 29 for each and had them in 2 days (Amazon). I'll try the s99 as an upgrade

@captaindrone this is a prime example of how the Chinese can cram so much tech into such a low priced item. Yes it lacks any innovative tech, or substantial quality, but imagine this with even a decent HD camera! Personally I think it's a perfect pre stepping stone for new users before they move on to advanced drones. Im glad you took time out to actually do a serious review of a drone at this level. Cudos

Hi It’s nice to see these cheap drones being built with brushless motors less chance of motor’s netting hot and melting the arms off. Tip to new comers to non gps drones you have to keep vehicle moving or wind will carry it away. As you say for close flying.

I liked the multi button remote, no silly menus, no silly cell phones to pair /connect. a lot of the tricks were the same as my jjrc nearly a decade ago, and at some moments the plastic did sound very hollow in this video :D (i loved the idea that you hit return to home and it flies back to china > < )

Great review. I have some toy drones that state it's using 2.4GHz, is there a way to bind and fly them with my Radiomaster TS16S 4in1 controller? Do I need a special toy backpack module? 😀
It all depends if they have a simple receiver in them from FLYSKY, Frsky or FUTABA.
Did you unfold the mobilephone-holder completely ? I think it has a notch to snap in, which needs a bid force to move in.

I read your comment Captaindrone and in a more old vid You talked about s9w drone that have rth function is small and cheap that's having one key return but i don't see you connecting to GPS,how IT works? It follows the remote control signal or something?
It is simpler than that…. It just does a 180 from the direction it flew out
This and other very low budget drone brands have the cheek to put the Hasselblad logo on it to make users think it has a 4K or better camera with a super sensor. In fact, the front of the camera is an imitation of the DJI Mavic 3 which has 2 cameras.
The datasheet shows the camera as 480p which looks about right.

30 days in, and this is the best entry-level anything that I've bought in my 40 years of buying anything with my own money. The Big Trak that I had in 1982 was more complicated to use. Even though this isn't the best thing on the market, it really is fun.
Today I added a cheap 1080p camera by using Velcro and sticking it on the bottom of the drone at the CG (the camera cost as much as the drone, and is very good for what it is). It does a much better job of showing the world (though not FPV) than the included camera, and doesn't impact fight time or control enough to notice. The only downside is that I have to launch and land from my hand, which is not really a disadvantage. I have a second one of these drones on the way, and the first one will end up being used to mod.
At least it has brushless motors. I've noticed that a lot of the low end drones are finally getting brushless motors now.

Why don't al those wifi camera quads lower the resolution (to decrease latency and increase the framerate). Than it's could even be useful for fpv flights.
I assume no sd card to record the video. Guess you have to record to your phone. Not bad for the price. My mavic 3 pro won't do flips!
I want to see an update video a couple months in the future to see how it has held up.

You’d have to take it to your local hobby store and ask for compatible props.

RTH only exists if a drone has a GPS. With no GPS there is no such thing as RTH.

In the old days the cheap RTH function basically meant it flew back in the direction opposite to the way it started flying. But no where near to the exact spot it started at.

Under 250 grams, GPS, brushless motors, 2-axis-gimbal +EIS, optional obstacle avoidance ( for what it's worth), remote with screen. I was really surprised how good the video looks! And it is under $100! Steal if you ask me. Best drone under $100 no question.

Hello! Can the transmitter be switched to Mode 1 (right throttle)?
Usually these toy like drones can be MODE 2 or MODE 1 by pressing a few buttons.

Not really because the video output power in the drone is currently very low, so raising the power on the receiving end will have improvements but very limited improvements.

The motors are worth more than the whole drone. Get one while you can, and when you get bored with what it can do salvage the parts to build DYI drone.
I've had mine for two weeks now, and am very pleased. I've spent far more on an entry-level RC car (many years ago) and not been as pleased as I am with this drone. I'm currently printing a set of toroidal props for it. As I get closer to retirement I'm looking at small business opportunities, among which is a drone video/inspection service. This drone is a good place to start learning to fly for such a goal.
I ordered this, it worked perfectly but the included batteries refuse to charge with the included USB cable! I have tried hooking it up to mains with an adapter, my laptop, an extension with USB, nothing charges the batteries.
Try a different USB cable or try a different power source such as a phone charger

Oh, an 8 year old is certainly mature enough to handle tech like a drone, especially if they have been enjoying video games. This one will be more fun, but they may need to fly it outdoors so as not to mark up the walls.

I’ll attempt to help… Every video on CZcams has a DESCRIPTION section below the video. I’m guessing you have been unaware of this. Try this… look at video, then look directly below it and depending on the device you are using you’ll see a TRIANGLE or ARROW pointing down on one of the corners or you may see a SHOW MORE option. Once you access that you then see the VIDEO DESCRIPTION that contains a world of info regarding any video you watch.

I'd recommend putting together a features list though, so that when you do a video review, you can go through the list and identify which features the drone does and doesn't have. That way, people know for sure what they are and aren't getting, otherwise you have viewers getting all excited and clicking 'BUY' buttons only to discover after opening the box - 'Oh crap! I forgot about that!'

I actually have a fantastic, very popular video, where I make light that people wish to spend $30 on a drone expecting $1000 features due to not being savvy in the drone hobby and believing the misleading ads with false information. You are not alone in your desire to get high end features for extremely little funds but reality is that you have to spend at least $300 US to get minimal features that actually work.

Hi i have trouble finding this drone so i found a snaptain sp 500 gps for $ 28.00 on eBay and have flown it several times in the last three weeks and i am impressed. Drawback brushed motors keep fingers crossed they don’t get so hot as to melt arms , if i use iPhone I don’t have trouble flying it , android not so good , looks like they have gotten a lot better in the last couple of years, Last one I had was the sp 7100 The camo version and recked it four or five times landing it. Sp 500 Drawback no telemetry readout and got to stay close , i am impressed sounds like motor cycle you can hear the gear drive. Flight time not bad does way point’s pretty good. For money have trouble with it chuck it.
