- I'm finally re-joined the world of FPV and I have one goal... To get my dreeeeaaam shot!
It's happening on the 27th of June and I'll plan on releasing a vid a week for this!
Thanks for watching - Krátké a kreslené filmy
man the avata DEFINITELY stabilises and flies itself 😂
people underestimate how FPV drones are used and how hard it is
nah it’s very easy
@@kakashihatake3686 haha not to fly well. Flying in general, like hovering is very easy. Actually flying around gaps or any tight areas is much harder. Not to mention all work just to get a flying quad
I used to think FPV was just regular drone flying with goggles. Until I started watching freestyle.
I was humbled very quickly in my first simulator with an Xbox controller. Then humbled again when I ordered my first mini RTF and tried to fly it with Xbox controller experience 😂
@@kakashihatake3686you probably fly angle🌞
@@kakashihatake3686what are you talking about, you probably wouldnt get an acro drone in the air for 5 seconds
I see Nicolas, I click.

Welcome back to the FPV club man ! ✨
First mistake was buying an avata
Yeah and new Zealand doesn't even exist
@@ThunderFarterBlud thought he was skibidi with that one💀💀💀
Hats off for the considered training work up, following with interest
That's some skilful drone flighting abilities Nicolas! Once you have mastered the S split, I think what could be a good idea is climbing a high point like a pole with a wide shot, and then instead of going around it and nose diving at the other side like an S split, you actually just reach the top and go for a nose dive whilst looking down at the side you were wide shooting and then pulling out of the nose dive right near the ground. Could be a challenge for your next video as well as a useful manoeuvre if you have a cliff side or just a mountain you want to record.
Really nice video. I learned some of these trick on the simulator too. It's so fun!
the dji avata is an allright drone, but if you want to pull harder moves, or do 180 degree spins fast you will need to get a homemade fpv drone, luckily you can get the dji o3 air unit to put in one of your existing old fpv drones, and connect the controller and goggles to that, i 100% recomend trying that instad of the avata (im a previus owner that sold it due to it flying like a potato)
I agree I reckon it's time to do this
Hey mtm, could you help me getting into the hobby? i really want to start with fpv drones but I dont know how...
@@coo100 yea ofcource, always happy to help, do you have any place we can discuss this (d i s c o r d gets blocked on youtube for some reason, it wont let me post when i have it in my reply)
@@mtm555fpv3 oh alright. I mean d i s c o r d would be fine, or insta? :)
This is one of the most relatable videos I’ve ever watched
that shot is gonna be so worth all the training 🔥
You called an Avata an FPV Drone?!
its kinda the horizon mode of fpv drones.
@@shard218Yeah that’s true but why would/should you? I mean if u want to be a FPV Pilot than just build one by yourself…. I don’t see the point
If u want to flight normal than just buy a DJI one and if u want the real flying than build yourself one 🙃
@@fly.cinematics i did. i fly 5 inch 6s builds
The training montage felt like a fever dream 😂 Feel free to reach out if you ever have questions about FPV!
bro, i laughed my ass when the battery died, literally the same process im going through now LMFAO
I live in NZ and have a holiday house in the coromandel. It'll be amazing to see the shot!
Damn, luckyyyyy. That's a beautiful area
Keep at it in the sim man it helps alot
Nice video I have an avata it so spoils you having the ability to flip a switch when you’re disoriented. I think I need to practice the beginner moves thanks for the motivation.
Good luck for your goal ! I know you can do it !!
Because of you I really want to be a FPV pilot haha I think it could be a useful purchase 😁
(Oh and I really appreciate your long videos)
thank you!! and do it it's super fun (and slightly frustrating)
Just keep on doing it you will never quit
Personally with the fpv and avata I find landing it in normal or sport mode way easier than manual mode as opposed to a real fpv quad. Food for thought
Great video 💚
Congrats on 500k
thankyou 🤓
i manage to fly and do frestyle in span of one month ..the frustration for first week of simulation is huge.. it stress me out .. after 2nd weeks .. i manage to fly it without any crash .. on the fourth week i freestyling with the simulator.. on fifth day in fourth week .. i manage to fly it ..though my hand shaking ..now i try to improve my skills and focusing in cinematic ans video stuff.. not freestyling .. though freestyling is fun during playing time
that's awesome, it's a long learning curve
I learnt on the Avata, honestly don't think I'd have managed it without the pause feature
Greatest ever man Thanks!
I started in drones 10 years ago, they were very difficult to fly. No gyro just totally manual . Let it all in the closet, like the beginning of digital photography, waited 15years for something useable. Now with the avata 2 and goggle 3 it’s getting failsafe .
I just got into fpv drones!!
let's goooo
If yo look closely at 12:56 the drone's camera slightly glitches out objects that are closer to the camera
luv your vids.
The Milford sounds, Lake Tekapo or Mt Cook are some pretty good places for filming, although they are in the south island. But it is totally worth the trip.
Milford sounds looks craaazzyyy, might be worth it for that
@@NicolasGrantand highly illegal without extensive permits
WE NEED A PART 2!!!!!
4:32 Bro really just said "Karate Kid"
Owning a drone and waiting THAT long to fly it takes an unreal amount of self control. Does DJI have Care Refresh for their FPV drones? Definitely worth investing in.
if you wanna get fpv drones, dji avata is far from the best way to get into it, theres other great drones like the betafpv pavo 20, and getting something like the dji goggles integera and a remote 2 or 3 (thats what i would recomend) :)
@@mtm555fpv3 the dji remotes are kinda bad, you want something from Radiomaster I'd say
dji fpv drones are terrible at being fpv drones
@@parkourguy5903 i mean theyre ok for getting someone into the hobby but its not good for anything past that
Im curious and looking at this, what sim did you end up with? I may have missed it somewhere in the video but thought i would ask just incase.
I started on the DJI phone sim and I eventually moved onto liftoff
The excess earings can interfere with the compass.
wait actually hahaha
You dropped a pin on the ground! Can I have it?
Props to you (pun intended) for getting back into the hobby! The Avata is actually a pretty terrible drone to learn on and has a lot of bad behaviors and general DJI weirdness about it. It's actually so bad that the first time I flew one I thought it was broken. The Avata 2 (which I just picked up) so far flies much better (bigger props, less weight, better weight distribution), but still not as well as comparable BNF cinewhoops and nowhere close to any of my open-prop quads. If you can fly the Avata, you can probably fly anything 🤣
HAHA I used to have the Nazgul and it definitely flew a lot nicer. I've started to notice the weird behaviours of the Avata especially when you try to push it at speeds
@@NicolasGrant yea handling at speed is not a strong point for that drone. It's pretty decent at being a cinewhoop and flying slow and controlled, but that's about it. Given the shot that you want to get with it, I would practice some dives and get used to the propwash handling, which isn't great. The Avata is considered to be under-powered and given that you will be flying over/near water for that shot, I'd get as comfortable as possible with those specific characteristics...
as a new zealander, we should meet up lol
there is no substitution for stick time, gotta get the muscle memory, but all dji flys like a monkey hurling a turd....
I hate the Avata so much! If you crash it harder in manual mode the drone takes control and throttles up to 100% to correct itself but cant do it so it just flies away with NO CONTROL
oh shoot that sounds very problematic 😬
The "potato" is the DJI FPV drone, not the Avata.
Love it !
Do you need a video editor?
I can do a sample video ;)
An Aussie mate, finally!
I also want to get into FPV and I use Liftoff as my Sim currently. Does anyone have an idea which Simulator is best for DJI Avatar 2 (or with which settings it gets the closest) any advice would help a ton! ❤
The potato is the dji fpv drone and not the avata. Funny enough the dji fpv drone is a lot faster than the avata but it's heavy which is why people call it the potato. Great video!
ohhh interesting thanks!
Congrats on your progress. But don't go through the cave. You will lose signal and possibly lose the drone.
I'm starting to realise that it may be an issue hahaha
0:04 . First of all, that a DJI mini 2 se and no, it doesn’t have obstacle avoidance.
Tahiti from rdr2 is real??? No way
Ditch the simulator and get you a small 2.5 to 3.5 inch drone and just for in angle. Then go really high and switch into acro. Once you get comfortable with flying then work your way up to a 5 inch. Avata isn't really FPV it's FPV with training wheels. Avata won't fly like a real drone. Avata 2 might but it's nothing like the DIY drones
hmmm I agree I think that's the next step, I'm starting to feel the limitations of the Avata
when did you buy the avata, cause literally around 2 weeks ago the avata 2 came out XDD
He bought it in the video
I have the avata too!
The mavic is not a normal drone, it´s a camera drone. And the avata is not the tipical FPV drone, either.
So Cool!
NAAAH BRO GOT DJI FPV 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Waiting fro p2 😊
Bro looked at a review for the Avata 2 when he had the Avata 1
Good video just subed.
Thanks for the sub!
Bro got the vr from S.a.o
i live in nz but you are going to coromandel :(
Ya, the Avata is definitely a potato. You should start with like a 5inch freestyle for those moves.
yea i might do that loll
Which simulator were you using?
I used liftoff and the DJI mobile one. But liftoff was significantly better
FPV drones ARE self stabilising - that is what the controller does. Even in acro aka rate mode they self stabilise - or at least they try to. If you put them into a certain angle they will try nad hold that angle on all 3 axis.
But Nicholoas is correct - they are not self fliying.
That shot you want to get is going to be very hard, as you probably won't have line of sight through the cave.
You need to have radio line of sight pretty much the whole way, so the antenna on your controller needs to be able to see the antennas on the drone opretty much the whole way.
This is one of the things that is really hard about FPV, managing the radio.
I think it would take a very experienved or very lucky (or both) FPV pilot to make that shot work.
Even if you get it so you can fly through the cave, when you turn left on exit the "promontary" the cave is in will probably block your LOS.
I have not flown DJI FPV/radio link and I understand DJI's links are sposed to have very good penetration, but I even so I suspect that cave section might be challenging.
Appreciate the comment ! I've started to realise that this will be an issue and I think the only way to pull it off is to be standing inside the cave...even still it might be pretty sketchy
What sims do you use ?.
Liftoff was definitely my fav but was a little laggy at times
why did you choose the avata 1 over the avata 2? The avata 2 is a much more capable drone with better transmission, camera, and power (which is something that the Avata 1 kind-of lacks)
it's cheaper but now that i'd started to push the drone a bit more im starting to feel that it's reaching it's limit
hi out of nz see you soon
Image if you do a backflip with the drone and a backflip in real life
Neat must say
Omg im also Intro drones!!!
Can we get more capcut tutorials
Hey Nicolas , very good video . I can do better editing in your videos which can help you to get more engagement in your videos . Pls lmk what do you think ?
This is insane
Nice video! 2mins into it...
Come join the fpv rebels club!
What drone did u use?
avata
Fpv is really hard ngl
Oh man, you should’ve invested in the avata 2, much better
Edit Now that I think of it, it wasn’t even announced when the video was being made
Edit again, the avata 2 was out when this video was made, I thought this would show the dream shot so yea
nice seeing you getting back into the fpv hobby again, but calling a split s a hard maneuver is a bit of an exaggeration
Name of the simulator?
Only og will remember’
nooooooooooooo not DJI virtual flight use tryp or fav logic
what sim u playing
??
Liftoff and the dji one. If you need a sim buy liftoff.
Neat
It’s the avata 1 the 2 they say is a different animal 🦓
I've heard it's a lot better as well haha, but now the Avata 1 is a good price
I would still opt for the more refined technology. If prototyping is carried to the customer, which for a while is common practice especially in Automotive development, this covers development costs for R&D .
I will rather wait until the product is overall useable and reliable.
Nice
lol from the low quality videos of the actual FPV flights i can already tell the crime outcome of this here mission. #yikes 2:20
Taïhti 🇵🇫♥️
DJI avata 2?
thiiiis one is Avata 1
lets gooo
just cheat and use the motion controller 🤣🤣 your a better man than I
You live in Australia
true
can someone explain how to link goggles v2 with the sim video feed?
It's only if you use the DJI simulator, then you just use a phone cable to the goggles.
Hi guy
W
The fact that dji is macking fpv easier for beginners is good but on the other side there are a lot and I mean A LOT of people who don’t understand what fpv quads are and explain it wrong. You are one of people who have flown them and the past but i’m still not that satisfied with your explanation (sorry) but I know it can be a lot worse. MrWhoSetTheBoss yapped absolute shit in his video about the avata 2.
I’m glad that you at least fly manual not like other people who pretend like they are professionals but fly in n mode💀
yea that's fair enough, It's quite a hard thing to describe concisely so i decided on going with "it does't stabilise itself" statement hahah
drone
can someone buy me a drone
plsss
So, it is a potato
it is slightly potato like
Why didn't you get the Avata 2? Best one yet (from dji) and has built in backflip, flips,...
Nice I got the same drone😮
