I can explain it, Rocksteady did not make this game, that OG crew was replaced with activists long ago. They did not sneak in they walked in the front door and took over.
The irony here is that the Arkham games are dark and depressing but put a smile on your face. This game is supposed to be fun and vibrant and bright, but it's depressing. 😂😂😂

Facts man I’m telling you the reason why the Batman games are loved is because it’s just raw and badass hand to hand combat with a decent story across all the games. Those rocksteady devs left before this game came out. The concept of killing the justice league with the suicide squad is not a bad idea, it just doesn’t make sense with 4 c tier villains.

Hurts my soul a bit, for this is NOT what we gamers have spent years waiting for. I understand every game isn’t going to be a10/10
But at least back then, it wasn’t a narrative being provoked to the masses to push an agenda, it was just pure gaming, storylines, Lore, etc.
each game lead by developers that sticks to the source of that story and not trying to deceive the player into a totally different mindset once they complete the game.

People need to drop their attachment to Rocksteady from the Arkham games, it's not the same Studio anymore none of the people of those games are still working there.

I get this, but in no possoble world this will happen. Some people really grew up with these Arkham Games, and to knoe now that this game is set in that universe, and that Batman dies this way, is utterly fucking stupid and shows zero respect to their previous work.
Not entirely true. Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker, both worked on the previous Arkham games, Sefton who co-wrote the story for Suicide Squad, and Jamie who was the Studio Director are both credited and even though they left in 2022, the majority of the game had already been worked on by these individuals and others from previous Arkham games. So you can say it was not the same Studio, but only really in the past few years. Maybe that's what made the difference, but it was still a Rocksteady from the older Arkham games that put work into this game. Which is tragic. I'm not sure what the reason was for these guys leaving, all I've seen is speculation of creative difference, though nothing is verified and regardless there's no excuse for what was produced.
I gave Rocksteady the benefit of the doubt, I trusted that they were going to treat the character that literally built their entire fucking studio career with some respect, and goddamn was I wrong lmao.

Really though, That scene with the hologram where Bruce mentions Tim and it's implied that Bruce killed him and probably Nightwing and Oracle. It just combines all together with Bruce getting shot in the head. It completely sours Arkham Knight for me, knowing what happens.

So she lives through Scarecrow's torture only to get killed by Batman, off screen. Disgraceful... I will never consider this SS game Canon. And what of Lucius Fox & Aaron Cash? Batman kill them too? This new game doesn't even follow up a lot. What happened to Scarecrow?

Its pretty clear that the disrespect in this game was done on purpose. This was a game made by people that actually hate the characters and hate comic books. They also clearly did not no the lore or world setting this game was set in. Its like they read cliffs notes about the characters and then inserted their own OG fan fic crap. Also the NEW 52 HQ is dog crap. Also they have no reason to be proud of this if this is the crap they produced after 9 years of dev time, They should actually be ashamed that this is what they made. That is how bad it is. Worse, the gameplay is boring and mindless.
Great breakdown man. I really loved it. Yeah the exterior is so vibrant and bright but then you're tracking down and executing your childhood heroes that taught you to "be better" than you are and better than you think you could be. At this point, even if they do backtrack and it was all fakeouts or they use tech to undo stuff, it's still a story designed to bum you out and hit you with shock factor/shock value. They can undo all the deaths or undo certain elements, but even then, the BASE GAME that we got is just depressing and brought me down. I hope to enjoy it more when I start my let's play, but idk man. Great video.

Even Caboose is feeling depressed from this game. He also brought up a good point; which was that a WAY cooler game idea would be based off Batman's hologram speech to the Bat family about being compromised; a game where you play as the Bat family and have to work together to take down an evil Batman. And instead of killing him you would try to save him. This would be a WAY cooler game idea than playing as the Suicide Squad and just killing everyone.

I honestly wouldn't have minded killing off the Justice League. Frankly, I expected it to be revealed they were all clones created by Brainiac and it would be revealed at the end of the game.
My issue is it felt like every character except Wonder Woman was treated with absolute hatred and disdain by Rocksteady. We've spent 4 games playing as Batman, we know how much of a badass he is ESPECIALLY if you've managed to beat "I am the night" mode in Origins. Each of these fights should have been INSANE. The Squad should be beat up, bloody, breathing hard, and happy to be alive by the end. Instead, the League members are bloody and the Squad don't have a scratch on them, hell, they're not even breathing hard. This framing turned every hero into a joke. It didn't help that the game ENTIRELY undoes everything in Arkham Knight. We spent the entire game seeing Batman fight off insanity and eventually lock Joker away in his mind so he doesn't turn into a murdering psychopath. All that is undone and Batman is just a killer anyways.
And again, Superman is evil. We haven't had a single GOOD Superman outside of a Lego game since, what, Mortal Kombat VS DC in 2008?
Harley pissed me off because her entire character throughout the series went out the window too. Where's all the hatred she had for Batman for (in her mind) murdering Joker? What is this crap about her and Joker being on the outs? She ADORED him to the point where she was trying to resurrect him in Arkham Knight. Suddenly she's had a relationship with Ivy the entire time? That was never explored in universe, so here it comes out of nowhere. It's like Rocksteady just made things up on the spot without really thinking or caring about it.
And suddenly "Oh the Deadshot you've faced in Origins and City? Yeah, he's a fake despite having the exact same story as this Deadshot which is expanded in Assault on Arkham."
If Rocksteady wanted to reboot the series they could have just rebooted it. People would have been disappointed but this is just pissing on your legacy and expecting fans that grew up with the Arkham series to be okay with it.
Personally, I like the game but view it as totally non canon. I feel like that's the only way you *can* enjoy it. If you view it as a look into a worse case scenario future for the Arkhamverse. As an AU, I think the bleakness of the story is cool. I don't care what the devs say though, this game isn't canon to the rest of the series.

The reason why this doesn’t feel like a Rocksteady game is because this wasn’t made by the same team. It’s Rocksteady by name, but it’s all new people. The old team left for good reason as well due to the trajectory this game was going
Probably one the most disrespectful and worst games I have ever played, this is coming from someone who’s been with rocksteady since Arkham city and would praised them until the day I die, after 9 years this is genuinely crazy to me this is what we got, this game is so bad that I think it genuinely ruined there reputation I’m done with rocksteady I will follow sefton hill and Jamie walker wherever they go, they were rocksteady.

Sweet Baby inc. strikes again, but this time landed a massive blow that might have indefinitely killed this franchise. My favorite franchise ever, murdered in cold blood and pissed on just like Boomerang did to Flash's corpse. At least they hit their ESG score numbers, I guess. WB must hate money, they could've made anything. I would be fine with a JL game with live service, as long as it was done well.
Keep in mind, I wanted to like this game. I was 9 when arkham asylum dropped, beaten every game numerous times. I am 23 and still come back to all of the games very often (except Origins because they refuse to even port it over, it doesn't deserve a remaster anymore, it deserves a full on remake). I just can not believe they brought batman back and introduced characters that I and many others have waited over a decade to see, just to see them get murdered with no dignity.

BlackRock (major financial and investment company) already said they want to force people how to think. It is a really sad world we are living in. I do not think all of this would be as big as an issue if it were not for the fact they are pinning people against each other. Divide and conquer. I did not mean to give a whole rundown on this, but it is a threat to at least our country as we know it. This game makes Gotham Knights look superior. At least that game gave Batman a more respectible death
The gameplay is repetitive, the story is so half baked, and the performance is sub-par considering that 7 years were put into this game. Very disappointing, and I can only hope WB Montreal learns from their mistakes with Gotham knights and puts out a better sequel there. Other than injustice 3, I’m very concerned for the future of dc games

But yeah, if by different you mean live service, I totally agree that it is very different. Time will tell how successful the game will be but it's clear that the majority hates it. Storywise this is FAR FAR worse than Avengers.

Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker were the co founders of Rocksteady. They left the company at the end of 2022 after 18 years of being with the company. It is my opinion that this is why. Sweet Baby Inc is a narrative development and consultation studio full of feminist woke women who hate men (specifically white men) who had a big role in the narrative in this game.
So... they literally pissed on the corpse of the flash...And they thought... we'd find it funny... when we have been waiting for all these guys to get their solo games they just... make this. Don't buy it guys. Make them feel it.
It's because a company is more than just the name, it's the people who work in it. And it sounds like there's no one left at Rocksteady who worked on the Arkham Trilogy anymore.

Why would they build a universe where the follow-up is to kill the characters we've been wanting to play as for years? It's always fun to see people (specially people like youtubers, that make content out of games) who can discuss this game without getting agrevisse. Every person deserves an opinion, but there's absolutely no way to disrespect the developers and/or people who like the game, and you did a fantastic job on being respectable. I just feel good knowing most people from the Rocksteady we knew were not involved in this game, even though it will inevitably (and deservedly so) ruin Rocksteady's image.

1 or 2 Superman games.
1 or 2 Green Lantern games.
1 or 2 Flash games.
1 or 2 Wonder Women games.
Then we should of had this Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Game, or better yet, a Justice League game

Honestly this probably is the truth. I haven't actually checked but I bet you this is another situation like Redfall. The game gets a ton of hype off the developer's name but none of the people who made them popular even work there anymore.

You’re not wrong. It wasn’t made by Rocksteady. At least not the Rocksteady that made the Arkham games. Most of those people left Rocksteady. The current Rocksteady may as well be a completely different studio.
And I think it was made by people who hate DC. Not because they’re Marvel shills, but because they’re ideologues who think that the male heroes exhibit “toxic masculinity.” That’s why Wonder Woman is the only member of the Justice League who is treated with respect.
I agree. Its a very messed up trend happening in society that’s celebrating Villains and saying they are misunderstood or allowed to do bad things because they were unfairly treated and heroes are the problem.
Saying Green Lantern is a problem for being a Marine in Military & a “Cop” of the space universe.
Saying Batman is actually wrong and a fascist for being rich, not giving all his money away (which would not be enough to stop violence in gotham btw) and he has actually been the problem messing up others psychologically.
The speech from Harley Quinn before she kills Batman shows the idiocy. She accuses him of being the problem even though in Lore shes had killed children, tortured people and is the real psychopath villain that Batman has tried repeatedly to help.
Imagine if this were a Justice League game, but instead of the "all characters on screen at once" style like SS:KTJL or old Marvel games, it was with character switching mechanics similar to Spider-Man 2. Each member with their own playstyle/traversal mechanics/skill tree, and only bringing the characters together for cutscenes, specific missions, etc.
Essentially Spider-Man 2, but with the Justice League and far more advanced playstyle diversity lmaooo
Agree on your point the only scene that got me interested was the first batman scene in the museum, that got me interested, only to be sourly disappointed with how batman is disposed.

The biggest thing holding this game back is just the sheer lack of mission variety. Escort missions and point defence. That's the whole game. Which, to be fair, may be added later, but should have been present at launch.
Honestly I would’ve taken a Red Hood solo game with a mix between Devil May Cry and free flow for combat.

I would say it’s an understatement to call myself a fan of the Arkham games. They’re probably in the top 3 for me. In my 30s now and don’t get as excited about superhero stuff anymore but I still can’t get chills watching that trailer from origins showing Bruce growing up. So love some good Batman content and also DC by extension. It is such a bummer to get this as the follow-up. I know people might not agree but I really liked Gotham knights. Why wasn’t rocksteady working on that? That is the perfect follow up to Knight and just needed some rocksteady attention. Let WB games make the goofy looter shooter no one asked for. It really is just too bad. But I’ve got all the Arkham games redownloaded, I’m gonna go enjoy those for the billionth time and I’ll check out Suicide Squad when it’s $7.99 or something

I was so upset and pissed off by the end of the game
this was the first game I ever gave a negative review becuase it was clear that the persons who made the game hate my heroes
and I won't spending a another diamond on this game and jokes aren't funny

@@braddl9442loop repeat stuff can be fun despite it being repetitive. Most games are repetitive. You’re someone who doesn’t like this gameplay, and here I am as someone who does; it’s fun to play as boomerang zipping around. People just have different tastes; it isn’t black and white.

I saw an idea about the new Suicide Squad game, and it sounds better than what we actually got. The guy said that they should have had Batman be the only Justice League member that wasn’t mind controlled, and you have to play as him and try to save the others and fight Braniac. Then, the Suicide Squad would be secondary antagonists, where you have to stop them from killing the Justice League. I don’t know why Rocksteady didn’t do this. It would have been an epic swan song for Kevin Conroy.
It’s funny how in the Arkham games, getting exposed to fear toxin cripples people’s minds, makes them feel helpless and vulnerable… but here it just takes the idea of the joker section in Arkham knight and shows a cool looking Batman and captain boomerang just has a beer sign pop up lol
Hopefully there will be a dlc where we can play as the justice league and it would show us when Batman came out of hiding and how he became apart of the justice league then how they got brainwashed and how brainiac won against them
Funny thing is that they didn’t have to kill Batman. He was contained they could had saved him but they went out of the way to kill him. People might comment “they had to kill him to lure Superman to their location.” That is bs Superman knows where their HQ since he was there when Amanda Waller was screaming to get her to the hall of justice. So all the squad had to do was wait there without killing Batman. This game is shit.
At this point, what we need is a “Red Hood: Kill the Suicide Squad” game, because I don’t think that Jason would let this slide, especially Batman’s death.
I know that’ll never happen, but a guy can dream. I’m perfectly happy pretending that this game is not canon to the Arkham series. I haven’t been playing the games or incredibly attached to this universe as others, but I know what happens and I really enjoy it. I’m more of a Marvel fan, but I enjoy DC, and this game even made angry.

to be fair suicide squad in arkham universe is a dope idea like you do suicide squad mission not killing the justice league members anything else but you do mission with the squad and members Captain boomerang, Harley Quinn, Arkham deadshot we know, Killer Frost, King Shark and they do their mission if you play like as harley quinn you would have for that character her own ending and same to everyone same as in injustice 1 and 2 games and this game would be a single player/ co-op game

@6:54 You're right because the Rocksteady original devs made their own studio known as HundredStar Games. WB is so desperate because they know the game is bad that they decided to mislead the fans by using the name of the Studio and said, "from the creators of the Batman Arkham series," when in reality, it's a completely different set of devs than the original.
Definitely feels like "hate mail" instead of a love letter to DC and the arkhamverse. It's not how charecters die, it's how they are written and put down like dogs. And it's how NOT villianous (cause they ARE villians) the squad is it's how unlikable most of them are
Sincerely let down by how Rocksteady handled the Arkham Ip... 9 years, of anticipation for the next installment. But what if following the events of Arkham Knight Batman recently joined the Justice League prior to events in SSKJL. Instead of these two awful games, "Gotham Knights", and "Suicide squad kill the Justice league". Reather then the suicide squad you play as Batman and the Bat-family. Instead of killing the Justice League you break them free of Brainiacs control, one by one. Adding each member to the Look-out Tower off world, aiding you in your quest to stop the invasion of earth. Leaving Superman for last where it becomes Arkhams version of the Dark Knight Returns. As you fight Superman in a full Bat-mech suit (Armored core style). Once the Justice League is rescued, together you start their conquest to go after Brainiac. Swapping between Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Martian Man Hunter and Cyborg. Using their abilities to take him down, and take back Earth.

You know this game (the overall story concept) would have worked a lot better as a Titans game.. imagine a story where you start the game as the Justice league trying to take down Brainiac but the mission fails and the Justice League gets mind controlled. Smash cut to the Titans getting a briefing from Hologram Batman about the Justice league getting compromised and that he has some contingencies in place to take them down and he is confident the Titans are the only ones with the abilities to accomplish this. So the Titans drop into the Brainiac warzone and begin working one by one to free the Justice league and defeat Brainiac.. the end game reward being that you can unlock the Justice League members you freed throughout the story. Then DLC could be New Heroes and some villains getting added to the game along with some Story expansions.. imagine if you had to play as Nightwing to take down your mentor Batman. Or the Titans having to work together to take down Superman. But then getting to play as those heroes after the game is beaten. Not killing them off.
The only thing that would make me happy is considering this game uncannon and release a Batman beyond game, Superman game and maybe a suicide Squad with the roster of Arkham origins like deathstroke where the game is a little similar to the lego dc super villains, it’s about the justice league disappearing and the only people they can rely on is the villains have villains like Arkham knight, it doesn’t need to be open world for example like guardians of the galaxy game have the main villain who is not as threatening as brainiac or darkseid and after that we can see a justice league game.

Only thing I really disliked was how everyone was so excited about being trapped with Waller at the end

So many mistakes made & I think its a combination of reasons why. Writers literally pissing on our favorite heroes not understanding fans, game devs that make incredible single player story stealth action being forced by Greedy CEOs to make a cash grab 4 player battlpass always online microtransactions looter shooter.
So many failures happened and i think many players tried to warn them. Avengers & Anthem failing were warning signs ignored.
I feel bad for Rocksteady & devs that cared but they could have seen this coming. I think some did and quit the studio & started a new studio. Such a shame.
I hate they hid behind the crutch that they don’t wanna limit the flying of Superman but DBZ Kakarotto is a great game and the flying feels great and combat is fun for playing as a world shattering character

My biggest question is why did this game need to be a part of the Arkhamverse, other than for marketing purposes that is, like narrative wise? It just doesn’t fit, the world doesn’t feel the same and the characters don’t feel the same.
In Arkham Knight Batman fakes his death and disappears, that was a crucial point for his story and his character. In the Suicide Squad game (spoilers) he comes back, reveals himself and becomes a member of the Justice League just because. And obviously everything he does or says is out of character. And just like all the rest of JLA members he gets killed in the dumbest and most anticlimactic way possible.
Another character from the Arkhamverse - Harley Quinn kinda gets the same treatment. Despite being voiced by Tara Strong again, she just isn’t recognizable as the same character and for me that speaks volumes among many other things.
If this game is anything to the Arkhamverse, it’s a travesty.
Personally I’m loving this game. I would consider the arkham games peak of superhero games and Batman being my favorite superhero but his death in SS didn’t impact me that much (only impact it had on me was knowing it was Kevin’s last time playing batman) but Batman dying didn’t impact me because this is a comic book game and in comic books characters die and come back all the time and maybe I’m just huffing copium but I don’t think this last time we see arkham batman even if it was Kevin’s last time playing him. With that said as far as looter shooters go this is by far my favorite more than borderlands,avengers, Gotham knights and especially destiny gameplay is just so fun and a little addictive.
Would really like to hear your opinion on the direction the arkhamverse is gonna go from here, james gunn has said he has no plans of this being the last arkhamverse game.
How do you even move forward with the Arkham universe after this game atp, even if they do a cop out else world thing or have a flash variant go back in time and reboot it, it’s still not the same universe then (though right now I think that would be best for dc games) only thing I can think of that would work would be an Arkham origins sequel but I highly doubt that will happen since wb loves to pretend origins doesn’t exist
@@Billy-tn3ftEven an Origins sequel is kinda pointless if we know *this* is where the character ends up. Best case is to reveal the game is not canon and have the real Arkham Batman show up as a variant. Not sure how that'd work without Kevin though.

@@Billy-tn3ft I think it's a good story, but ONLY if it's not canon. I like how dark and depressing it is, but only in the context of an AU. So I definitely agree on not wanting it to be canon, despite liking the story.

Also i agree with not liking harley, idk why but her voice is so grating and everytime she speaks she has to contort her body, and it just feels so “extra” and awkward.

Why they don't make arkham batman vs all justice league without his contingency plan but his intelligent and moves to help suicide squad to fight justice league than sacrifices himself to save Justice league
I might, MIGHT try it when it inevitably goes free to play...but the fact they actually unceremoniously kill the entire league and bat family....that doesn't sit right with me.
Gotham Knights killed Batman twice but at least they did him respectfully, he died as a hero, he overcame the Lazarus Pit effects and fought to protect his sons and friend.

An important part you should have remebered before even getting this game, games are not made by studios they are made by artists. And the artists that made the arkham games have mostly left rocksteady by this point.

Since the multiverse is canon, this game should be collectively headcanoned into being an elseworld story of a perfectly parallel timeline to the original Arkham timeline, that way it’s canon as the devs intend but not OUR canon.
Slc, this game made me crazy, too. I have been nonstop thinking about it and watching review videos about it for the past 3 days straight; literally done nothing else. I'm starting to wonder if this is even healthy.

This game would've been better story wise if it wasn't a live service game. That way, the handling of the Justice League would help more than just people waiting months for any hope.
