It's about time I break down my favorite character from one of my favorite shows...I've done so many other Avatar character videos but this one was the most fun to make. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Keep in mind, all of the sudden, the person who's family is personally responsible for what's going on in Lee's village was revealed to him. In a sense, they felt betrayed by Zuko.

Am I the only one who's noticed that there's a pretty big change in not just Zukos personality, but also his voices tone? He sounds a lot more angry and rough in the beginning of the series, but his voice get's softer and softer throughout the series, it gets more humble.

Zuko only became powerful when he learned firebending from other sources. His uncle taught him lightning redirection, the dragons taught him true firebending, aang taught him to be more circular for defense and katara taught him to be more precise. Only when straying away from tradition did zuko become a more powerful bender
Just like his uncle, he learnt from every person possible to create his own unique style
I’ve always loved Zuko even when he hadn’t had his redemption arc yet. He was a very well written character and is definitely one of my favorites in the series.
Zuko's best skill is definitely his skills with swords, hes unmatched
I would have *loved* to see his and Sokka's sword (+boomerang) fight on screen!
With how the animators did so many other scenes of sword fights throughout the series it definitely would have been pretty awesome.

Zuko defeated admiral Zaou when he was around 15 and not even done with his training. Katara did not even have any formal training when she was kicking as* at 14. Altogether, in their prime an airbender not even done with his training, a lava bender that toph could dismantle, and the combustion bender being no new sight to them made it pretty easy. Also zuko could just zap the water bender like Mako did. The Red Lotus stands no chance

From then, Ozai, petty king, said that he would not treat Zuko as his own... I think she had to beg for Zuko's life. Zuko is definitely one of my favorite characters in ATLA. Started out as an antihero in Book 1 & 2 and then redeemed himself in Book 2. Zuko Alone is one of my favorite episodes because of character development on Zuko.

Zuko did not just speak out of turn during that war council meeting. He stood up for the inexperienced soldiers who were going to be used as bait on the front lines. He stood up for his own people and this is one of his most defining characteristics. That Zuko is kind and caring, no matter how much Ozai tried to squash that goodness out of him

Zuko's character development is out of this world! Seems really realistic and interesting to follow. He started from the bottom to the top only to realize that there's another summit to climb, and another valley to cross. This show is a masterpiece!

Nah, he had many struggles with redemption.
he's already kindhearted as a child. at that point, he would start a redemption arc then regress back to making horrible choices. tbh, his actions may be fucked up but he's just trying to cater to his emotional need (affection from his father). the whole series is his redemption arc, not just the moment he didn't steal food from the couple. he had an emotional turmoil that fucked him up which uncle iroh also recognized which is why he didn't give up on zuko. he let zuko run after the avatar because zuko needed aang to go back "home".

It’s funny to think that Zuko’s dad ruined who Zuko was but also saved who Zuko was by banishing him with Uncle Iroh. You really couldn’t have gotten banished with a better, wiser, more kind, gentle, and sweet man than Iroh.

The scene with zuko trying to capture the bison and uncle iroh putting some sense into him is my favorite because those are honestly real conversations u can have with a parent “you need to start asking the big question, who are you and what do you want” that hits home because a frustrated parent will say that to you if you constantly keep making mistakes

This show is so perfect man. I loved the character development for Zuko so much! See when you have a bad amd abusive father you either allow yourself to become him or worse to your kids, or you become everything you wanted/needed as a child growing up to your kids. We got to experience him becoming his father while zuko idolized him and did everything he could to make him proud but thanks to the guidance of everyone' (favorite) uncle Zuko became a better person, learned to coexist or overcome his demons, and successfully became everything that his father wasnt as a man. So in the end of an amazing journey, Zuko become everything he wanted but most importantly became a great, loving, and kind Father. Truly this show was a masterpiece. It's so sad that I don't see any possibility of another sequel or prequel achieving the level of rewatch ability, connection, of love for the characters and show in general.

Fun fact I recently found out: In the Dutch translation/dub off Avatar, Zuko is voiced by the same voice actor who also does voice of Malfoy in the Dutch Dub off Harry Potter, Sander van der Poel.

The creators did say that zuko and mei end up together in the end. Izumi (their child’s name) meaning fountain is a call back to how they had that moment in the fountain as kids

Zuko is insanity skilled with his sword and fire bending combo style. Should mastered it better and just devastated everyone including his sister.
As an abuse survivor I relate strongly to Zuko. His rather burned him across the face, nearly blinding him. Mine raped me multiples times and gaslit me for years with his wife who was not nearly as loving as iroh or zuko’s mother.
I was angry in all the same ways he was, never related to a charicter more than him.

That scene of Ozai burning Zuko's face and the way Zuko screams always breaks my heart. The storm is definitely one of my favourite episodes but I can't help but cry when you think how terrible of a father Ozai was.
Zuko is definitely the best character written in fictional history with the best redemption arc. No other character could probably come close. Excellent video. Looking forward to Life of Katara soon 🌊
Oh yeah but when you think about it; Ozai's terrible parenting did teach Zuko how to be a better father for his daughter. I mean, I feel like Zuko definitely deserved better and in a way he did indeed earn a better father figure; Uncle Iroh. Iroh was always there for Zuko even when he thought that Iroh was being annoying and lazy. It was indeed heartwarming when they reunited and Iroh hugged Zuko with Zuko not able to understand and said that he thought that Iroh was gonna be mad with him. Iroh just replied by basically saying that he was so worried for Zuko's mental compass and that he had found his way back to Iroh. That made me feel like that Iroh should've been Zuko's father, not Ozai.

Eren Yeager though. Although Eren is different, Eren's story is about becoming humanity's villain, but still one of the best written character arcs in fiction.

Once he got his honour back from his father he realized that "honour" is not something anyone can give to you but it is something you earn for yourself.

I actually got to meet Dante Basco, the man behind the voice of Zuko, back at my first ever Comic-Con. Absolutely one of the nicest guys ever!

Seems like the whole ATLA actually focused on Aang and Zuko's life as parallel, there were many scenes where both Zuko and Aang's stories mirrored each other, for example : Bitter Work. And there were also scenes where Aang and Zuko's feelings/emotions were shown mirrored each other, for ex : the ending of The Blue Spirit. And the most blatant comparison is when Aang and Zuko danced with the dragons in Firebending Masters, the frames shown each of them dance with a dragon behind them, Aang with the blue one and Zuko with the red one. Not to mention the conclusion of the story, where both the Avatar and the Firelord stood side by side before the nations.
I forgot to add that one episode (i think it was The Storm) where the scenes kept switching between Aang and Zuko's background stories. Plus, the fact that both Aang and Zuko seemed to be "special", with Aang being the Avatar and Zuko the great-grandson of both the previous Avatar and the Firelord who started the war.
yea i think that was really clever since the war started and ended between the avatar and fire lord. (roku and sozin), (aang and zuko)

@@sonderly7820 True. Since the big story here is war, and wars always have two sides. And the big message is to make peace, not to defeat. Aang represents the people under oppression and Zuko represents the oppressor. The war could not end if the Fire Nation--Zuko's side--did not want peace. Thus making Aang and Zuko's reconciliation as the "real" end of war and the beginning of peace. The battle between Ozai and Aang was just a climax scene to show how the good guy kicked the bad guy's ass.
