OK TO EVERY ONE BRINGING UP DISPLACEMENT.
YOU realize that the 6.2l is smaller than and LIGHTER than a Ferrari V8 or mustang 5.0... its an extremely small engine thats light, compact, and durable. Not to mention it its lighter then most mid Sized V6's and LIGHTER then them yes LIGHTER. just because the liter size is LARGE does not mean its a physically large engine.
also on a curvy back road, twisty scenic road, OR track no hellcat, shelby, or even M4 will be able to keep up with this. Difference between muscle/sport and supercar.

All of those cams and the heads that accommodate them take up space and weigh a lot. As does that intake. So do those turbos and the necessary plumbing. Then again, what would You Tube be without butt hurt euro fanboys to ridicule for making dumb comments.
Alex Rorrison its simple if you have ever built or worked on an engine you would realize boring out the cyl makes up displacement. the 6.2l in the corvette is physically smaller, lighter, more compact then even mclarens 3.8l V8.
people (like you) tend to have this idea that if something is 5+ liters it must be massive 850 LBS engine from the 70's when in reality a small block with a small SC is more like the size and weight of a 3.5l V6.

A STOCK Z06 can do 0-60mph in 2.95 seconds (8speedAuto) and 1/4 mile in 10.4 at 132mph... It also beat the PORCHE 918 (hypercar worth $1 million) on the track at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) and did a 6:59 time on the nurburgring, name me another Supercar that can do those numbers for $100k, I don't think so... This new Corvette is the bargain of the century

When you're rich you don't care about warranty or cost savings, it's about having the absolute best at any cost. Ferrari is in another class, but Corvette is leader in the world of high performance value.

Jack Ol'Bean Tell that to the millionaires who buy mercedes, bugattis, ferraris, lambos, etc. They are not as reliable or cheap to maintain as a Honda or Toyota but when you are a millionaire it doesn't have to be because you can afford it.
You missed the boat. Hondas and Toyotas don't do, sound, feel,... the same as the cars you mentioned. So their "value" isn't the same.
Do you actually know any millionaires? They're the typically cheapest people on the planet (if they worked for it).

Brian C you're mistaking YOUR cost/value considerations for millionaires'. They are different, but that doesn't mean they don't care about cost/value. A corvette doesn't deliver what a Ferrari does. The Z06, for example, was the least favorite of all cars driven during the Robb Report Car of the Year drive. So to them NO value exists there. Once you realize others think differently than yourself, you'll get it.
I absolutely LOVE Corvette!!! This will be mine one day!!! My all time favourite car!!! 2015 was an absolute home run for Corvette!!!!

okay instead of buying a z06 why not just get the base vette for what 55k? and supercharge it yourself? add slick tires upgrade cooling then remap the ECU. forget the aero it'll just slow you down. stage 1 aero is all you need really and go auto for racing/manual for drag racing or daily drivers.....what do you guys think?

thisguy177 I thought of the same thing but doesn't the ZO6 have stronger internals than the base model? I'd be worth doing that if you can just slap the supercharger on the base model an tune it. But if not changing pistons and rods can get a little pricey and would probably amount to the same price as the Zo6 with labor.
I'm not a Chevy fan or anything, but I love the Corvette C7 Z06. Best car for 80K that can kill a Ferrari on the racetrack.

Great review! I like that the crew of FLD is having a chance to prove their camera worthiness with segments like this. I think that is one of the main reasons Fast Lane Daily has grown to be such a impressive show in my opinion. Presentation by Tom and the rest of the crew has improved dramatically and has kept my interest beyond the normal FLD shows.

The sound that this 6.2L, supercharged, cross plain, pushrod V8 makes is easily the most orgasmic American muscle sound ever to come out of an exhaust pipe.
And yes, this thing is every bit as capable, and even better, than a Ferrari. You're just paying an extra $200,000 for a name. This 'vette will go toe to toe with a Ferrari any day.

All wrong guys. Not getting the point of the general reaction reviewers have to this car. I CAN BE compared to a Ferrari. That's what's amazing. Why should America always bow down to Europe? No it's not better than a Ferrari if you want to impress the country club Valet kids. (But the Performance Data Recorder Valet mode is cool).

in fact... this car can beat a Ferrari 488 gtb! and for less than half the price. Now that's a winner's car. Ferrari are fine and everything, but if you are buying one, instead of a Corvette like this, you are dealing with an ego bigger than the statue of liberty... my opinion.

I think it's good the owner is driving the car all year round. How ever I don't agree with the driver aids keep you from going off the road. I get winter driving I'm from Canada, there are tons of people who say "oh the traction control will take care of everything" then they end up in a snow bank. I also find the driver aids get in the way more than anything. When your driving in winter no matter what kind of car your driving you need to use common sense when you're driving in bad conditions

The stupidity of a few people thinking that traction control is a miracle working technology does not negate the fact that it will greatly benefit a person with common sense. If a person is dumb enough, they're going to get their Darwin Award one way or another. The technology is sound, but these people you speak of sound stupid.
This video makes me so fricken exited to get my Z06 in march. Specced up exactly like this, but with red brake calipers. MSRP was $103k but snagged a GM discount from a friend before they got rid of the discounts.

Dude,gtr all the way.4 seats,premium stereo,4wheel-drive(you can pound it even in winter).on the other hand,corvette has a good warranty and a big boot.
Sounds like shit, slower, worse interior, more expensive, awd is less fun, no manual, more expensive to repair, less easily moddable, worse handling etc.

I know it has so much power that it's ridiculously quick, but it bothers me that this car has a top speed 13 mph lower than the C6 Z06.
Because if the downforce. The c7z will destroy the c6z in 0-60 and the 1/4 and the track. Still want to complain?
Tony Lewis Actually they are pretty close in the 1/4 mile. Downforce does almost nothing for you in the 1/4. The C6 Z06 was good for mid-11's in the 1/4 mile with a trap speed over 123 mph. The new car is only marginally quicker.
hartsickdisciple the 8 speed auto runs 10.9....thats a proper difference. 0-60 is far quicker too.
Tony Lewis Anyone who buys an automatic Z06 is a weenie. 1/4 trap speed is what shows how "fast" a car really is once traction is taken out of consideration, not so much the E.T... although there have been plenty of low 11-second runs in stock C6 Z06's. Trap speed for both cars are within 2-3 mph, which is not a huge difference. C6 Z06 does 0-60 in 3.4 to 3.6 seconds with a manual transmission. The fact of the matter is that the C7 Z06 is the replacement for the C6 Z06, and it's not much quicker when similarly equipped. Factor in the lower top speed, and it's a bit underwhelming. Great car, yes... I'd definitely take one... but that 198 mph top speed was a hell of a bragging right.

It's due to aerodynamics lots of down force reduces top speed
Not to mention that Top Speed is irrelevant in pretty much every worthwhile race... In real racing, there are too many turns for cars to get much over 160mph... Even if you are a drag "racer" you wont see anywhere near your top speed in the 1/4 mile...

Your an Id thats with the snow tires, Fuck your Shelby we aren't talking about hell cats(Dodge and Ford Mustang aren't on C7 level). The Vette will hit 205mph. The cadillac cts-v 207mph.
actually the new vette wont hit 200 mph obviously lol but ok and second i never said the shelby was on the same level ? little but hurt ? ahaha. The vette and the shelby are 2 different classes of car but i was just saying that a shelby hits 200 mph and is about 35k cheaper and you get back seats and a decent size trunk.. The vette is cool and all but im more of a ford fan. The only vette i would own is the c6 zo6. That thing is a monster plain and simple. The c7 is more of a track car and im more into drag racing so thats why im not to big on the c7s

This to me was by far the most honest and accurate showing I've seen yet. Opinions are opinions, facts are facts. There are those that will still argue with the facts, those people do it for the sake of arguing. These people have taken debate to seriously and have nothing else better to do. Bottom line here, each new performance vehicle has it's own great and unique qualities, but look at what the engineers have designed it for for consumer production before the tuners get their hands on it. Yes I am a Corvette lover and love the classics of the 60's, but I am in love with this new one by far. Can't wait to buy my own.

Is 185mph top speed correct? I own a 2008 Z06 and top speed from factory is 198 and I believe top speed on base corvette in 2008 was 192. Why the decrease in top speed, not that it matters much, have only had mine up to 165 and will be trading mine in soon.

My father drove his 85 vette in the winter for two years ,here in Edmonton Alberta with no problems .
You mentioned loss of power due to mapping of ecu, that is all true but you have to also figure in the forced induction part, I'm a turbo guy but with any turbo or super charger you lose power due to heat saturation of the intercooler over the period of time on the track even on an water to air intercooler it will eventually heat up making you lose power.hope this helped any.

But you need to realize that driving a modern Ferrari is at a level beyond pretty much anything else out there and I'm sure beyond what the C7 Z06 can bring. Though concidering its half the price and is much more practical (boot!) as well as cheaper to own and maintain it's an amazing package (and why I'm really tempted to buy one myself).
Great review in all aspects. Ferrari and GM do share tech and parts. The reference point he making is very valid. GM claims C7 claims chassis is even stiffer then last C6. Hopefully future reviews backup GM claims on their open tops. Ferrari stated their aluminum chassis is very stiff if I'm not mistaken. The reviews of 458 spyder models says different.
From what is said most spyders have rigidity issues. A GM model besting far expensive cars would be huge feat in this rigidity department.

Two weeks ago I saw a white Zo6 slam his rear end into the curb out of nowhere! No traffic to avoid, no loud engine noise like the guy tried to accelerate too quickly. It was just a cobble/pebbled surface, and the rear end broke traction. My 2011 V6 will break grip on the surface and I have just under half of the torque of that thing! I felt bad when I saw the guy pull into a drive way and get out to inspect the damage...
I can tell you he is not lying when I got a zo6 I thought well maybe it's made to look cool but when I went to track day I felt like I just met my dream girl it handle real nice coming in to corners and coming out its like meeting the one it is just a great feeling know that it's a car that is amazing absolutely at 10 out of the 10 for performance

I seen another video with the c7 Z06 racing a hellcat and the hellcat one barely. Though the corvette had 200miles on it
BTW the roof is already made of roll bar .great review..also the fully auto is faster at Zero to 60 in 2.9secs and Quarter under 11secs that will beat most Ferrari and get this its half the cost.
I won't one of those 2015 zo7 but it will be 7 years old but it will still be my dream car and I am going to start saving up for one
