I'm surprised that Swedes didn't mention American movies & TV series. Because we love them!!! It’s also broadcast on Swedish TV all the time.
I've been to the US several times and I've enjoyed every place I've visited. I love that you can experience so many different things depending on where you go, because the country is so big. I've traveled around on both the east & west coasts, Hawaii as well. All the places have offered different sights, activities and food for example. Americans are very friendly and helpful people. They have made my trips the best! Which I appreciated very much.
I also love American sports culture! I went to NHL, NBA, NFL & MLB games. All those games are on the list of my best sports experiences. Besides hockey, it was the first time I watched those sports live. In Europe, the big sport is football (sorry... soccer as you call it in the States). ⚽️
I loved the shopping and went to these outlet stores you have outside the cities. Brands like NIKE, Adidas, Vans, Calvin Klein etc. were so cheap compared to Sweden. Traveled back to Sweden with probably 10 pairs of new sneakers and also a lot of clothes.
I could write many more things that I love about the USA. But my impression as a Swede is that Swedish people really like the USA! The negative things are based on politics and news, but nothing that affects Swedes opinions about the USA & American people in general. I think Swedes are quite good at separating media & politics with the country & ordinary citizens. Otherwise, just look at our government's circus, and you might understand ;-) Love to the USA & Americans 🇺🇸🤝🇸🇪

Americans are very friendly. I walked into a bar in West Union, Iowa. Within 10 minutes a lady came up to me. looking at my empty beer bottle.
She asked: Hey, how are you. I haven't seen you before. I explained I was travelling from Sweden, met a friend here but she had to work. So I went to the bar.
She said: Well aren't you lucky, I'll take care of you. = She was the bar owners wife, he was Gunther and she was Belle. I got a few free beers while talking to them.
Later on they bought me jeans, they didn't like that I looked like hobo, haha. They even invited me one night to their home and when I woke up they were gone.
They were at work, I found my bearings (unlocked house with lots of fine things to steal) just grabbed a beer from the fridge and went to the bar.
They welcomed me and asked how I was, I'm just fine and said I was hungover. Gunther grabs a beer and gives it to me. One dollar a beer, I gave him the dollar.
He looked me, no need to pay. I said, I already owe you more than you understand, from now I pay for my beers. He looked at Belle and they both chuckled.
In another bar in this little town, I walk in alone and walk out with 5 new friends. Yeah, people in America are nice (most of them)

To be honest dont get this to buy liqour in normal grocery stores. Sure I could maybe stretch myself to think beer or wine, but not the strongest type. I do actually like the Systembolaget, because there is nothing like it. I mean Denmark and germany for instance has small liqoure stores, that do in sense only take in the stuff people want. Systembolaget has a huge various of wine or other stuff. And if they dont have it, they could get it for you. DOnt get why people still dont think this is good? And systembolaget has changed to a more boutiqe kinda style. There was once in a time, not possible to browse among all the articles at Systembolaget. You had to take a number and wait for your turn to be expidited, and you couldnt go around and watch what they did have. So they have opened up quite a bit.
And the third one I dont get at all. What, Sweden has kinda became the same. Lots of different foods from different cultures, Italian, Greek, Swedish of course, German, American, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Indian, Persian, Balkan, Mexican, Texmex, Spanish, French, Turkish, Finnish, Cayun. Creole and probably even more. I mean who are these people who think like the States has so much of different food cultures? Sure you usually have to live in a bigger swedish City like Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenbourg, Örebro and such, Smaller cities could be missing but usually have at least Thai, Chinese, Italian. I live in a community outside of Örebro, and we have a Thai restaurant and a greek, and normal pizzerias... 3 of them and then there is a place that do normal Swedish cousine. If I would think of anything food related its probably the BBQ-traditions that the US has. In Sweden we just grill something, and thats it. I have watched BBQ-videos on youtube from the states, and they do take this BBQ very serious. In the US, everyone seems to become a full-fledged BBQ-chef. And the second is also very strange, because sweden has never been as diverse as now. Dont get why people didnt mention the civil liberties that Americans have?

As we know today, this wasn’t true and never has been. Sure, in yesteryear Sweden was populated, mostly, by ethnic north Germanic swedes (which was made up by several different groups), but that was by no means the only ethnic group in Sweden. Tornedalingar, romer, jewish community, samer and sverigefinnar are the five recognised minorities in Sweden, but of course there has always been several other groups present. Sweden does have a long history of treating other minority ethnic groups like crap, though. The castration and lobotomising of the Sami, Roma and Finns to keep the “Swedish blood and people spirit pure”, for example. Yeah, we were real good at that eugenics shit. Maybe not something to be too proud over.
Btw, Gothenburg, as we know it today, was founded by the Dutch and during the 1700’s swedes had to have visas to go there, as parts of the town essentially were British.
Sweden on a whole was, and is, a happier place (with a given amount of “happy”) than the states. It has been shown time and time again that that happiness was connected to the joint effort of the people to create something better than before, i.e; the workers movement. People also saw that that effort actually paid off; things got better than it had been during the rules of kings and the noble merchants.
Sweden has never been homogeneous, but to say so fitted the social democratic narrative very well at the time.

I am going to be a wet blanket on this the one thing I don’t like about the US and I’ve thought about getting out of this country and coming to Sweden is I can’t stand capitalism too many people on the top that are one percent the richest and the most powerful are walking and stomping on the backs of everyone especially the poor and the disabled those with disabilities are literally second class third class and probably fourth class Lowe’s level you can get to as far as citizens in the US that is why would because of what’s been happening in this country lately me and my wife are actually considering seriously moving to Sweden especially if Donald Trump runs again for president and gets elected let’s put it this way please remember World War II Nazi Germany fascist which is what Donald Trump is I will be leaving so fast it’s not even funny and I love Sweden it’s such a beautiful wonderful country unfortunately having a disability makes it almost possible for me to be able to get out of this hell hole of a country to move there on a permanent base and he scares a lot of people with disabilities or African-American or any type of foreigner that would be in this country because of what his plans are especially with eliminating his way of all those who are LGBT and minorities that don’t fit his agenda of life the Republicans in general are starting to do the same thing or taking away women’s rights of abortion which is one thing that no state of Indiana in the United States has voted to outlaw abortion taking women’s rights away sorry for being a wet blanket but this is my opinion just making it clear about what’s happening currently in the United States and now from what I understand there’s no talk of the Civil War including Trump war against all please help those with disabilities and others to get out of this country I would love to move along with my wife to the southern half of Sweden

Why would you want all the different food at your doorsteps? That takes the surprises and enjoyment away from traveling. You want Mexican food in mexico, asian food in asia and so forth. Maybe that's only me. But I don't like when I see a swedish menu in thailand. That's a nono. Local food, local drinks while traveling. That's a winnner.

Swedes are one of the most Trump hating people. What they don't realize is that they are affected by Swedish propaganda.

Whaaat you didn't mention how we love American cars? 😉 Sure it's a bit of a subculture, but anyone who doesn't give at least a little smile when they see an American car from the 50's/60's driving by must be completely soulless

I think you would have to change that first sentence to ".. old American cars". New American cars (except Tesla) are about as loved as herpes. :)

We really need to talk about this one because we have has so many school shootings so many murders people carrying around guns all over this country and there are a lot of families and people that are scared to death because of so many people even those in some states that have mental illness can carry and have a gun as well as pretty much anybody who wants a guy can have an AR 51 assault rifle including those who have a semi automatic or automatic machine gun can own it and carry it around wherever they wanna go to gun law are not good enough to protect the innocent children killed in schools and if somebody looks at you the strong work the wrong way they can shoot you at any time I personally am scared to even go outside my house because of my anxiety my fears and also the fact that I am transgender because right now I’m noticing some vandalism happening outside my home and broken glass outside on the road in front of my home and driveway and that could harm my staff’s tires of people we haven’t come in to help us all because there’s so many people out there that are hateful and spiteful that could do harm at any time me and my wife have a security system that we can protect ourselves with as best as possible but still we have home invasions in this country of people who can get guns illegally even I don’t know you tell me what’s better open gun laws or restrictive gun laws to protect the innocent I say restrictive gun laws to protect the innocent only those who are in the military or police to be allowed to have guns that’s it

PS guns for hunting like rifles are fine my brother uses a gun for deer hunting but he primarily only does just that was with his gun and that’s it that’s all I think guns should be allowed for especially if you’re going to use shooting kill a deer or another animal for food only not for just sport but many do in this country that even shoot elephants lions bears and other animals just for sport and not even have the meat for food wrong totally wrong and if they do they should donate the meat to homeless shelters and the poor in this country to help feed people but they never do they never will they don’t care

The geographical diversity and and nature wpuld be high up for me, and that the US is the sentinel of the western lifesryle and freedom. However bad the US behave in some wars at times, without their military strength China and Russia would rule unchecked.

I’m majority of the reason why the US jumps in the wars if you look at the top onepercent if they’re not making money then they’re not happy and the government knows that that is why sometimes we do jump in the wars especially when it doesn’t hit or support our top 1% in this country everybody else we no longer have a middle class we only have the poor class and lower class which is those with disabilities you need to examine that first and then you’ll find out because right now supporting Ukraine with weapons is funding money toward the weapons manufacturers in this country which are also a major part of the top 1% which are the richest in this country please look a little further I guarantee you will find out a lot more about our country that I don’t like and why I want out
