That fight scene was great. I remember it from highschool. Paris' pretty boy armor and Menelaos going savage is great. And then the description of him stumbeling as suddenly the weight is gone. Really vivid.
Now I will perform my own sacrificial ritual. I will dedicate a small fraction of my time laying down markings in appeasement to the Algo Rhythmic gods.
*listening to George give a fantastic reading of one of human history's most classic works of literature*
me: "haha, Clitteous"
honestly the commentary at the end is what really makes this, hearing all the history and explanations in modern-day english. thanks george love u
So I'm aware that they used scented oils both as skincare products and fragrance back then (I suppose we kinda still do), but the way Aphrodite describes Paris to Helen as basically "all lubed up and ready to go" is very funny to me in how tone-deaf it seems, given the situation they're in. Read the room, you freaky horndog.
It's not at all surprising you have gone this route, keep it up this is quite enjoyable!
Never stop making this Greek myth ASMR
I can't wait for the appearance of Zagreus. I'm hyped.
wait what
@@daveyc02909 Zagreus from Hades.
I have to say that every video you release always interests me, impresses me, and is better than the last
Ahhh. I just finished listening to the first two books you posted~
Lovely~
Love this so much. Can't wait for the next book.
alright, three down! your enthusiasm is infectious, this is a very fun reading
Hi George, longtime fan and loving this reading. I noticed there were great captions on the first book, only auto generated caption on the second, and this one doesn't have any. Are you planning to add full captions for the rest of this series? I'm not personally hard of hearing but with my attention issues good captions really help keep me from getting distracted.
D'oh, I just forgot to double-check that they had finished the entire uploading/publishing process. Should be there now!
Hey man, just wanted to say these are awesome!
Amazing stuff.
Have you ever done voice acting prior to this? I think you do a pretty good job here.
Nope, just ten years of video essays and four hours of vocal feminization exercises
@Super Bunnyhop Never knew for the longest time how vocal feminization worked, makes me think about the idea of men playing women's roles in Shakespeare's day. It's something that often gets a chuckle when you hear about it for the first time, but I wonder if they might have used a similar technique. Who knows, maybe they were actually convincing
@@JackRackam You gotta learn which muscles deep in there need to be stretched to get rid of fry/weight/bass noises, and then how to hold them down for minutes at a time. It really helped for me to position the mic so I could stretch my neck out as far as possible and talk to the ceiling, but I doubt that's a trick that could be used in any other situation
I LOVE HOMER
20:37 God of War brainrot made me think this was Kratos for a second
Who needs audible
This was the part I always really enjoyed - the war gets started again!
How did George come to his choice of pronunciation of "The Iliad" as well as character names and stuff? I know I've always heard it more like "il-lee-id" in high school but have no idea how academia linguistically approaches ancient Greek names. Plus I'm from New Orleans which has a storied tradition of butchering Greek street names like Calliope and Telemachus.
His pronunciations are surprisingly good (coming from a native Greek).
By the way im very curious as to how you pronounce Telemachus.
I know I'm just a lil guy, just a small boi, but let me know if you want to use my voice! Regardless, you have a super sick project here. It's been a pleasure listening to it.

Now we know what he done all these months.
👏
The assertion that they wouldn't have used chariots in that way seems to be without evidence. Yes it was a weapons platform at times. It could have also been used to ferry champions back n forth / demonstrate status.
I feel like people will look back and declare "men didn't actually spend months at a time ankle deep in mud in trenches, the trenches were just a launching platform from which to raid"
Just because it seems silly, doesn't mean it wasn't so. Many things we do today are downright silly and unexplainable.
Men of the classical age were of a different caliber than modern men.
Gorge wouldn’t it be funny if you sold this in online marketplaces when it’s done so that people can support you and you can reach people outside of CZcams that would be funny I think
