Having a channel such as yours, bound to reach people age 14-16, I smile at how well you will succeed where countless teachers have failed. Here in Italy we study this stuff at school, there's a specific type of high school called "liceo classico" where students learn ancient Greek and Latin, and Greek and Latin literature. I still know a couple Hundred verses of the iliad by heart from those school days. But while this kind of school does attract a certain type of passionate kid, most of the students aren't really keen on anything they study (like students anywhere else), and so for every wonder-eyed fifteen year-old, you've got 10 who are bored out of their minds. I wonder how many Kids of that age you've already managed to captivate, simply by remembering that these are stories, heck, these are THE stories, the first stories we told ourselves, and as such, belong to us in a deeply personal, captivating manner. All you have to do is tell them and not teach them.
You're such a gem George, you've been my favorite CZcams channel for the past 8 years, since your review of bloodborne got me into Lovecraft and inspired my presentation for my final exam, concluding those 5 years of liceo classico.
Thank you George, for all these years
i took italian in highschool and my teacher told us about liceo and how theyre different from american highschools and how you can specialize in something at a younger age, it always sounded way better than what we had. but kids are kids so of course some people arent going to care take it for granted. its nice to hear you appreciated it!
Big Boss salutes
Inspirational and remarkably said, from an Italian. Thank you for sharing. 🇮🇹🕊️
This rules George. Totally unexpected but god damn you really put your soul into this and it shows. A+
Have you been following the channel lately? I cant say that it was entirely unexpected haha.
We've reached the final stages of your Ancient Greek Weeaboo phase and I am 100% here for it
You mean “greeboo” phase
we need to see him do a collab with lindybeige next lol
bro greekaboo was RIGHT THERE
@@THE_BATLORD goddamn it, how did I miss that!
Thanks for the recommendation George! Can't wait to try this game
As a fellow weirdo nerd, I love this just for the pure dedication to a project most people are gonna go “huh” to. Been meaning to read the Iliad since I’ve read the Odyssey years ago in high school…will check this out lol.
A true greagaboo
It is nice to see George indulge his hyperfixation to this degree.
Love how achilles gets up at the assembly and goes through the whole laundry list of 'can anyone think of why Apollo might be mad at us? Anyone got any inkling?'
Thousands of years later, and "dogface" still a legendary insult.
This is both the most and least expected thing I thought you'd do. Definitely listening to this.
Crazy synchronicity I’m in the middle of reading Anatoly Fomenko and searched the Odyssey last night and was going to search the illiad tonight, and looks like your channel did a huge content flip. Awesome!
This is awesome. Watching your journey from video game essayist to historian has been awesome. Excited to listen to and from work.
I'm loving the fact that you did this alone!
finished this, and legit thanks for starting this project. the iliad’s one of those great works that I keep trying and bouncing off of, and this feels like the best chance to get through it
Thank you George. I'm a native Greek, I've watched your content since I was 16 and this is... perfection. I really wish you could read it in Greek, the words, the meanings, everything changes.
As intended for the Iliad, this video is pure poetry. The goose bumps are a nice side effect. So glad an online friend lobbed the link my way. Fabulous job! 👏
This was really entertaining and engaging. The storytelling is remarkable, and actually translates well to modern ears.
I wandered back here to your channel today looking for some video game commentary/essays to keep me company on a down day, and was charmed to discover your foray into audiobook/audiodrama work. I've never been much of a reader of classical work or mythology, but I clicked on this video just to see what this could possibly be like. I just finished listening to it in that one sitting. Very easy to get into and fabulous production all around. The addition of ambient fire sound or the sea and the swells of music to punctuate key moments here and there excellently compliments your engaging delivery of the text. For having no previous particular interest in the subject I am quite enthralled. I'll be keeping an eye on this project. Thank you for your creativity and work.
This isn't what I was expecting to find when I decided to check up on your channel, however I've been meaning to read this for a long time. Of all the adaptations I could choose from, this is the one. I'm totally here for this!
Ever since your video where you grumbled about the crappy audiobooks of The Iliad on Audible I've been looking for alternatives.
This is easily the absolute best presentation of The Iliad I've come across.
Very cool! I've not read this so i really appreciate the commentary afterwards 🙂 A winner is you!
I spend way too much time thinking about Homer and Hunt Showdown because of George. Glad you're posting stuff again man
Instantly transported to a forgotten time and setting thank you George for sharing this I never have read The Iliad but I've heard it is something truly special
Ive been listening to this while cooking. As someone with ADHD who struggles to read at length sometimes, this has been a killer resource for me!!
I can't believe this was done a day ago and I just want MORE!
Considering the sheer lack of Illiad audiobooks not on audible, this feels so refreshing to see. Keep it up!
Never stop pursuing the things that stir your passions.
Hope you and your dog buddy stay good and well.
This is great. I love not only the audiobook production, but also the commentary and context you've provided for those of us not as well-versed in history and mythology.
I will always, always, always love music and effects audiobooks. Lovely to see you trying this!
I think this makes it onto the list of highlights from my life.
I'm so excited!
Just commenting for the algorythm! This needs to be seen and appreciated by more people!
Neat. Always fun to see an artist experiment.
I know that the Iliad is like, all famous and stuff, but this still feels like such a niche thing to do. I absolutely dig it.
I'm 1000% here for this
this kicks ass george holy shit. i don't support anyone on patreon but sincerely thinking of supporting you just so you have a reason to keep making it. can't wait for the next one
I was expecting an even longer video.
I'm here for this.
You’re my favorite CZcamsr and this is such a treat , was not expecting to like this so much , thank you
Sweet. I'll listen to this when it's not 2:30 AM . There aren't enough good audio books on CZcams
This was unexpected and to be expected at the same time. I'm glad to see you back around and I'm gladly supporting each avenue you choose to dive into - knowing it'll always be insightful or at least uncommon.
Seriously, George? I'm re-reading this book as you post this video. Love it. Wine-bibber is a classy insult.
Finally got the time to watch/listen to this, did not disappoint
Just what you'd expect from the master, George SuperBunnyhop. Great stuff! I'd love to see more of this, along with info on your decisions when making this adaptation of the Iliad.
This is the best, I love to listen to audiobook while I work, thank you!
Suddenly, Im not so upset you’ve barely uploaded this year
Haven’t started the video yet but I’m already giddy with anticipation. This is the kind of content I love to see, thanks George!
I'm really proud to see you produce content other than video games. I like games but you're an intelligent person and it's great to see you branch out!
Having seen how excited you were about this project on the discord it's turned out great really looking forward for the 23 future books with commentary.
hell yeah, I hope we get the full thing
Hi, I'm a Latin Spanish speaker looking for audiobooks to enjoy listening to. I've only heard a bit, but I love the effects. Thank you, you have great talent. Really, thank you
I studied a bit of classics at university and have for a longtime wanted to read The Illiad, but no matter what, I could never find the motivation or joy to read it or even listen to it. Meanwhile I can't stop listening to this, its so well put together and well performed i'm really vibing it. Thank you so much for putting this together!!
Thank you for diving into the things you're passionate about. It really shows, and as a history and lit nerd this is a treat!
Oh, wow, no wonder I haven’t had a super bunny hop video in my recommendations for a while. I’m in!
What the hell… this is awesome.
A few minutes in and I'm loving it! So glad you did this, i would have never gotten into the story by myself but you present it in such a cool way I might follow the same thing. How many books is it?
23 more chapters to go!
@@bunnyhopshow How many are recorded so far? This is a massive project. Bravo.
@@modelcitizen1977 Is this all because he played AC Oddyssey and had that trip to Greece?
Why is this higher quality than any audiobook I've ever listened to?
This was absolutely incredible. I loved the additional commentary at the end as it was really informative. The reading of your patreon supporters at the end made me spit take it was so funny!
Thank you for this. I have read the original many times as a child and at school and you really did it justice!
Incredible work, crazy amount of dedication.
Your stuff I usually watch in the background while I do other things but I have to give this 100% attention
This was a really fun reading and performance, and I'm super excited for the rest of the epic!
So, this is what you've been up to all this time!
I look forward to hearing your adaptation of this epic!
Dude. Keep the dream alive. Some of my best memories were sparked by "Radio Theatre" versions of plays, movies & books on our local NPR station. I always figured if they could pull off the Star Wars trilogy in that form, (dogfighting chatter was A-1) the Iliad & Odyssey SHOULD be a thing.
This gained you a subscriber!
Absolute love that you're doing this!
You're giving this everything and it really comes through, I am enthralled!
This was unexpected. I will be extremely happy if this channel continues in this direction.
Come back , George. We miss you 💔
These videos might alienate some of your audience but personally I’m fucking here for it let’s go
I love how this was so amazingly all foreshadowed in your Climate Change in Strategy games video, where in every civ game you played the Greek Civilization and I love the content that is being made.
Well shit wasn't expecting this but ill be listening to them for the foreseeable future
Thank you for giving me something to listen and or zone out on once every few years for the rest of my life
Awesome, thank you! I hope you do this for the whole
Man, truly bar fights just haven’t changed in 4,000 years.
This is the Most Super BunnyHop Ever™ and I love it
DUDE this is awesome! Oh my god the sound design. Neat!
Yeyy…very happy to hear from you again ^^
Guys....George is being weird again...
In all honesty, this guy just does whatever he wants and it always turns out awesome.
This is fantastic. Can't wait for the next chapter
a very good and enjoyably listenable interpretation thank you
This is fuckin genius, super niche but you are like me and love classical epic literature so I really appreciate stuff like this
This is amazing, I'm really looking forward to it
This is absolutely wonderful
I was not expecting this but I'm all for it.
When I read commentary I thought it would be a usually critical video of audiobook industry.
Insteas I got a passion project of Iliad for newcomers of iliad. Which is fantastic for me and it was done so well. Can't wait for what you are going to make next.
I didn't know I needed this. Cheers!
I hope this gets the support it deserves
Bro I needed this a month ago in college. :(
Babe wake up, new Bunnyhop just dropped
Is it weird of me that I want more of this. This has made the illiad surprisingly compelling and i want to see you tell some of the other classics. Persius, the odyssey ect.
An hour of bunnyhop? Sign me up!
Ah, I remember being expected to read this. I’m excited to revisit the story in this format
Hi George, enjoying your narration a lot and this type of project is so cool. Have to say I miss your video me content
This is amazing! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for this.
Love you George, good to see you back dude!
Holy cow!! BunnyHop turned Total War Saga: Troy into a podcast!
This is fantastic. More of this.
I cannot overstate my excitement
Absolutely incredible
I can fairly safely say that the chances I would've read the Illiad on my own are low. By priming me with the videos about Greek Mythology, and now releasing this video, you succesfully transferred your passion, can't wait to listen to this.
Your Achilles is so whiny! I love it!
We spent so much time doing the Iliad and odyssey in school that i hated it,we never stepped back and read it in modern greek (it was in ancient Greek only so we had to apply grammar and get tested in it) and we were too young (13-14 years old) to appreciate it fully.
I need to go back to those books but due to work and family i can't. Instead i will listen it in English on the car , thanks George.
