"As an athlete, you die." It's been 9 years since I decided to "retire" from chasing the dream of being a professional soccer player, and it still hurts till this day...
only the 1% make it mate
@@loyal4theway159Less probably. Considering many pros don't even make the first team.
@@AJ-nd4nk sadly players like rashford made it
The mission is part of the fun even if it ends in failure.
@@loyal4theway159have a day off you clown
Thierry Henry was my favourite football player growing up!
Thank you for this! After my 16 year career ended by injury while playing at the highest college level, I had to face the same feelings/reality and it’s been a 10 year and ongoing journey of healing and adjusting.
Tough pill to swallow
Hope you're doing great!
I was an amateur football player and still can relate to him.
Its like another world, when you stop playing football.
Same here, the first days I knew I would not be able to play anymore was very hard for me... So Imagine for a great player like Thierry...
Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho are by far my favorite living football legends, they are the reason I fell in love with football in the first place, they are part of my childhood... Henry should have won at least one or two ballon d'or in the 2003 and 2004 seasons, he was so unique and underrated back then, he was almost unstoppable and genuinely a very good all-rounder authentic player. ☯️✌️
Brilliantly articulated by Thierry.
Henry the best striker to play in the premier league
You can drop the word striker from that sentence
Never in doubt. Lfc fan
Cristiano Ronaldo is better
100% best striker in prem league history
Alan shearer scored nearly same amount of goals playing with shit players
Brilliant interview ! Very touching.
Very vulnerable and great interview
So good to see this conversation, because its a conversation that is not had enough, well its definitely something that’s addressed far more now days than the past, but professionals not being prepared for after their careers is a real issue
This is very true, as a kickboxer. I only got better when I embraced the pain
Love thierry henry. What a player and person
One of the best Caribbean player ever in the game ‼️
Deep..very deep
Top quality 🎯
Every professional athlete must watch this before they retire. It may be a little different for for boxers, because they can be at home more, even during the peak of their careers.
Still The Greatest Premier League player ever.
Thierry, what an articulate and interesting man you are. Well done on all you've accomplished and the tricky transition away from playing. Top player, top guy.
Brilliant 👍
I played at elementary school so I know exactly how he feels.
He has one of the best personalities of any public figure in the world
Brilliant insight into a brilliant footballer and human being ❤
Being in the business of prize winning sports & Prize fighting takes a toll on the body. It’s not normal and not enough people talk about it because it’s all about money. Sad truth. The owners federations and regulators don’t care about the athletes.
Now you see in football they want teams to play more matches as if they’re not aware footballers health n fitness can’t keep up.
In athletics runners still run because of endorsement deal or competition obligations. Even if it means running these athletes health in the ground they don’t give a toss.
R9 went through a similar thing with Nike in the World Cup Final vs France. Played a big part in ruining the rest of his career.
Henry is so frustrating. He has an elite mindset (and obvs ability). But he’s not a great communicator. Never feel like you’re getting the whole/true potential of his insight.
When you skip the last sentences of your video I know you will have more suscribers.
Trust, You and your guests are interesting enough.
Wonder how ronaldo and messi when they stop playing..
" i fell in love with football" after he flopped at juventus
most every interview of this podcast is like a therapy session. It’s over played in my opinion. The titles and thumbnails are used to play into it.
Most painful moment?
When he handled the ball against Ireland the cheating rat.
Oh lol ... I commented the same...then I scrolled down..ya got there before me it's funny... None of us will forget that one.. I don't even like football😅 don't know any footballers names but Thierry Henry I'm not forgetting EVER😅
Ireland can’t play football
Wow! Holy Jesus, is that you?
Oh get over it already, he's not the first to handle the ball and he won't be the last.
The referee was to blame for not picking it up, in a competitive match you can do things on instinct by reflex, almost subconsciously, doesn't make him a cheat.
I'm Irish and I forgot about it 14 years ago @@BrokenBellyBeat
