    Great review focusing on what it's like to ride this bike. He doesn't bore us by reviewing too many stats which we can all find on our own. It's the riding experience I want to hear about. As he mentioned the BIG drawback is the limited range.

    Sounds amazing. No regrets from me for buying the 950S and I wouldn't swap it for this. I prefer the V twin and really don't need or want such a powerful bike. But I can see this will be a popular choice. I just wish they'd design a version of the Multi that wasn't trying to look like a big trail bike. Great review as usual.

  • @sv650nyc7
    @sv650nyc7 Před 3 lety +6

    Thanks for pointing out the limited range. Most review videos haven't pointed that out. A 150mile range disqualifies this bike from being a serious touring bike. Having to fill up twice a day on a road trip will get old fast.
    I'd rather have lower horse power but added range in this category. This will once again be a "touring" bike for people who trailer their bike to a nice spot on Sundays (true story) and otherwise keep it as a garage queen and status symbol.

    I'd like to see a head to head comparison with the new KTM 1290 SAS. Lots of people love the V4S, but I saw one review where they said the KTM is more sporty and fun to ride. I currently have a KTM 1190 S and I'm worried if I got the V4S I'd find the low end torque to be lacking. Also concerned about Ducati reliability and high service costs. But I do find the lower vibration level of the Ducati appealing, and the blind spot monitoring would be nice.

  • @67daltonknox
    @67daltonknox Před 3 lety +1

    I had a 2015 Multistrada. It was a POS. The Skyhook suspension wanted to do tank slappies at moderate cornering speeds. The throttle maps let any old lady in a Prius out drag me at the lights, but once in a while would go bananas wheelieing me into the car in front. At 5,000 miles there was a pile of metal filings on the oil pan drain bolt, the longest 3/16 inch. The clutch slave cylinder leaked so it had to be bled every month. The cost of maintenance and repairs was ridiculous.
    I now have a 1290 SAS. Better in every way. I hear VW wants to sell Ducati. Pity the fool who buys it.

  • @davidnewman9634
    @davidnewman9634 Před 3 lety +2

    I'd suggest it's a very good thing that the new Multi has a great instrument screen. That way, a rider can clearly see his fuel gauge bottoming out.
    I seriously can't understand why the media (in general) tends to fawn all over this bike with it's ABYSMAL fuel economy. On a Streetfighter...fine. On a Monster...fine too. Wouldn't expect it out of them. But on a TOURING bike?? Meant for doing big miles?? Instant deal breaker. As a current Multi owner I was really looking forward to this bike...what a mistake.

    • @richardmcanally6385
      @richardmcanally6385 Před 3 lety +1

      Go ride the bike. I have had vtwin multis for the past 10 years and done serious kms on them. The v4s after 6000kms is better in every way. In real world riding you are losing about 50kms range per tank. A small price to pay for such an awesome ride.

    • @davidnewman9634
      @davidnewman9634 Před 3 lety +1

      @@richardmcanally6385 You're entitled to your opinion, but just because I'm a multiple Ducati owner doesn't make me a fanboy. And when they make a turd, I'll call it a turd. So by your logic, Ducati has given me 12 extra horsepower over the 1260 (158hp)...which I can't use very often on the public roads anyway. And in exchange for this extra (borderline unusable) power, I get TWENTY FIVE PERCENT LESS fuel economy...which I absolutely CAN use. And this makes for a better bike? Granted, the chassis is marginally improved. But enough to make up for the economy loss? I agree with your 50kms (30 miles) per tank calculation, but I'd argue that over the course of a long trip it IS NOT a small price to pay. You could be stopping 3-4 EXTRA times for fuel. Who wants to do this on a TOURING bike? Not to mention the extra cost of ownership burden over, let's say 20,000 miles. Do the calculation based on what you're paying for premium in your area and see how much it adds.

  • @fatsharks
    @fatsharks Před 3 lety +1

    Your reviews are usually golden, but this is a straight up Ducati commercial. I've been seeing a lot of these lately, unfortunately. Now, overall, of course it's a nice bike. Well, for that ridiculous price, it better be! But I think the negatives cancel out the positives: Too expensive, too big, too heavy, too much tech that can go wrong, mega thirsty, 19 inch front wheel, no single sided swing arm, and you also forgot to talk about the huge recall this bike had right after it was released, lol. Of course it's fun to blast around on a press bike for free for a few days, but try to live with this bike for a year, and then we'll talk. If I was dying to get a Ducati tourer for some strange, crazy reason, I would just get the Multi 950 as you pointed out a few years earlier in a real review video. But otherwise, there are just so many other much better value bikes in this segment that it's not even close.

    • @BikeWorldTVshow
      @BikeWorldTVshow  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi, so you know this was shot before the recalls. You're right, you can't review a bike a bike by having a "blast around on a press bike for free for a few days", that's why we call them first ride vids and not reviews. John covered the fuel economy and he talked about the price, it's just a first ride vid. Also, these vids aren't for free, they cost us a lot to produce. You're welcome!

    Adaptive cruise for a motorcycles must be the stupidest tech ever.
    Regular Cruise Control is a must have, but Adaptive,??, NO WAY
    We who ride, want to speed away from traffic.
    Why would we want to stay at a steady speed behind a more than likely slower car instead of Pulling away ???, with all the variables, and interactions we do with our Bikes riders can’t be lulled into a false sense of day dreaming while they think the bike has it covered.
    And once you touch the brake, you’ll have to resume and start over then hit the brake again, resume, start over..Frig that 👎
    C'mon, what a waste of money. Most “smart” Riders like to be away from traffic, Travel at a faster pace than idiot car drivers and not have a slower car in front of you dictate your pace/Speed.
    This tech will never be fluidly used like regular Cruise control, it's a waste.
    Just Laugh and say “NO” at any dealer who tries to Sell you this $1000 Bullshit technology on a motorcycle.
    Whatever motorcycle company adapts this stupid idea is just trying to sell you something that doesn’t make sense on a Motorcycle that you’ll never use or need.

      These publications are in cohorts with the brands that they work with. There’s very little critical analysis being published anymore. They are all regurgitating the company narrative.

      @@xdcfvgxdcfvg9244 You need to get your facts straight before throwing shit around like that. There was no fancy trip abroad, no free meals or drinks, this test actually cost us to do. There was no company narrative, we were told nothing about this bike before John rode it.

    Ducati is pure crap. Expensive to maintain and as reliable as a wife with a Tinder account. The Italian crap is just that...crap. This is NO bike you would take on any 1000 mile plus adventure, it would never make it. I'm on my 3rd Tiger with over 40000 miles on each without a single failure. This Italian pile of metal will never make 5000 before it needs to be replaced!

      @@JAVIER500COLD The words DUCATI and RELIABLE are never found in the same sentence! The only adventure you would have on a new Multistrada is pushing it to the dealer.... I have 2 friends that bought them days apart from 2 dealers. They have both had mega problems with only owning them for months. Both bikes are up for sale as I type...
