Liron don’t ever worry about talking too much. For those who want it faster they can fast forward or put it on 2x. I personally love hearing your process. Thanks for the video.

"Life's too short to paint things you're not fully interested in." Thank you, Liron! Inspiration certainly drives me right now, I will continue to seek it.

Human portrait bacame my first of interest in watercolor and not for commercial reasons. I've seen a few made by you and even my approach is slightly different I found it very educating and I like them so much. Your comment about the process is priceless - thank you !

“You may not have all the experience but you can still make something wonderful” love this! ❤ All your mini statements of wisdom are so helpful. I’m only 20 minutes into the video and I’m inspired. Thank you LiRon for this longer video.

Yes, I get it, I've done 5 portraits now, and there's something about becoming THIS INTIMATE with someone's face that helps me to become a complete artist and lose my ego. It's very immersive. You're the only person I've heard talk about that. The man who commissioned me to paint his portrait...I now know where his lips change color. I might know his face better than his wife. It's a way to lose myself in the total face. It's a wonderful. engaging experience. It's like being part of a miracle.

I love the advice to do the things that inspire me first. It's been a struggle for me for a while because I've been following the advice to leave the details for the end. However, I've found that starting with the features most important to me gives me the inspiration to fight through the ugly stage to finish it. I actually hate that the ugly stage takes so much time in my paintings. The paintings that I love the most are the ones that look great all the time, even when the stages are so different from the previous one.

This is beautiful. I've been practicing small monochrome portraits from leftover paint on my pallette. Eventually I'll try a full portrait. ❤

Yes, this is a great photo to paint.
I don't usually enjoy these types of portraits as much (prefer black and white, stronger shadows), but this one made me want to paint it as soon as I saw it!

You've done a great job, Liron---the likeness is spot on. I so admire the artist Misulbu too. His paintings are jaw-dropping. Another fantastic painter is J.Hunsung but when I checked his site recently, he hasn't posted anything in 4 years. You are a totally different watercolour artist & equally talented. I recently painted a portrait of my grandson but after 6 attempts was about to give up when the final attempt turned out the best(I hadn't painted anything in over a year). It's true what they say, that practice makes perfect. Thank you for sharing.

And what you describe makes a lot of sense - portraits especially are a hit or miss for me.
Then one of them clicks and it looks perfect!

Me too I think I don’t like the many many glazes approach as well. Like the more direct approach capturing the essence and not necessarily photo realism. I was told by my students maybe I would like gouache for this reason. I haven’t tried it yet though. Maybe this summer.
