    Tudor Brown is my pick, I feel you can really see the richness of the brown. Bittersweet chocolate seems too black on the ceiling (would be a great wall color though). The instant I saw the Natural Linen color, I thought, "if she doesn't pick that, I will try to convince her IMMEDIATELY" XD So excited for you! I love seeing your home slowly but surely come to life. Your videos bring me so much joy!

      Place a portion of the penny tile over the linen paint sample, to see if it looks good together. The linen might look too yellow.

    I love the Tudor Brown, it’s calming and I think it looks really cohesive with all of the other colors and elements you have. You also mentioned that the bathroom doesn’t get as much sunlight so that should help the brown look darker, especially on the ceiling and the alcove wall! I can't believe how invested I've become in a complete stranger's life. I've been with you since way back when you were doing thrift flip collabs with Drew, but this has drawn me in in a totally different way. I'm proud that I made the same color choices as you and I was yelling at the computer for you to cut that phonograph cabinet in the exact place you ended up doing it. I think I'm ready to venture out and reno a house myself, now! Thanks for the coaching!

  • @MagicallyNatural
    @MagicallyNatural Před 2 lety +162

    I'd try mixing the colors and do a sample of the mix! I like how the bittersweet chocolate's cooler tone sets off the warmth of the wood, but the Tudor is nice too.
    I think the handles for the vanity are very pretty, but almost feel like a simpler knob might allow the backplate to stand out more. It's going to be so fun to see how this turns out!

    From the first list of browns. It was TUDOR BROWN that I was begging you to choose. And a really good level of sophistication there. Delighted to hear you are taking Mom back to Paris, France. Bittersweet chocolate 🍫 is definitely my pick! It looks so good with the linen wall color and compliments the vanity cabinet. Tudor Brown looks too close to the furniture and mirror shades. I just like the idea of some more contrast in the room. I do love the hardware but think it’s a bit too frilly and competes against the beautiful shape and detail of the cabinet. I’d go with something more simple or instead of 4 of the frilly ones, go with two of those & 2 less busy options.

    Restor-a-finish is the BEST!!! I started team Bittersweet but I wound up rooting for Tudor - I cannot believe it's been over a year of this adventure! So excited to see what happens next

    Getting excited for the "pretty stage"! You have put so much hard labor into this cottage. The Victrola instructions or label would make interesting vintage art work and Rub n Buff works well on metal hardware.

    I love the attention that has been given to restoring, avoiding waste and doing it yourselves.. It's so commendable! Such hard work.. Whatever choices that are made now about paint colours or furnishings are yours..and they'll be perfect.

    Bittersweet for sure. I love the contrast of dark and light. It is a softer calming take on the classic black and white

    My favorite is the super dark almost blackish brown. The contrast almost makes it a modern interpretation of a very traditional, historical feeling space.

  • @KateLJ1799
    @KateLJ1799 Před 2 lety

    I think Tudor brown is my favourite because it has some of the comforting rich warmness of barista but it's not overwhelming, while also having some of the classic depth of bittersweet chocolate without being too dark in a room that doesn't get much light. You get a combination of the best of both worlds

    I love how the cabinet, mirror and sink look together! Fabulous! Strangely enough, the hardware, I’m mixed. I love the back plates, but not so much the knobs. Although, I have no suggestions about that. If it were me, I would take a backplate and go looking at knobs. Paint colors, I prefer the lighter color you chose and like the Tudor brown best in combo with everything else. But without everything else, I like the darkest brown best.
    I know, that’s a real mixed bag and not very helpful. LOL. While the interlude in Europe was really fun, your Reno/DIY/deco videos give me life! So jazzed waiting to see how everything turns out! Your videos have been a real highlight for me during Covid ickys!

    Whenever you are cutting wood (especially old wood) I’ve always used painters tape to help. You can draw a straight line to help follow, and it also helps prevent splinters/taking away unnecessary bits of wood!
    Loving this and can’t wait for more design!

    The bittersweet chocolate is more modern and would be bolder and more “catalogue” designer and upscale but the Tudor brown would match more the era of your style. I think though, if you want it to still be modern as well as classic, then the more contemporary bittersweet chocolate brown is the better choice

    I love everything you’ve chosen for the bathroom, especially the gorgeous door handles for the vanity.! When you show us your paint samples in each of the rooms, could you make sure to also mention/display the brand name, not just the color name code? Some companies use the same names but there are subtle differences in the actual colors.

    This video just choked me up! To see your labors of love and respect for this old house is so gratifying.... using the salvaged pieces you've reclaimed, getting the cabinet behind the vanity 'just right" for the bead board, staying up late w Romeo to prime and paint, seeing you build a transom like a boss! And then to see your palette coming together w each element....it makes me unaccountably happy! I've been following you for a couple years now and im just so darn proud of you and Romeo... xoxoxo
