  • "Well, Hello Dolly" - Just got a BXpanded Backhoe Storage Dolly for the 260B backhoe on my John Deere 1025r. Lets' compare my DIY wood pallet dolly to the BXpanded Dolly to see which works better for storing the 260B backhoe when off the tractor....

Hey William - Thanks for tuning in to our channel - In hind sight, I should have just ordered the BXpanded dolly from the very beginning and just off loaded the backhoe onto the floor of my barn while waiting for it - I built the wooden dolly because I didn't want to wait the 6-8 week delivery time BXpanded had last spring. The turnaround has gotten much better since then - I received it in exactly 4 weeks from the date I ordered it on February 4th. Please reach back out when you get yours to let us know what you think of it - Thanks again for stopping by our channel.

This is the goodest video on this topic I have seen. Thanks for making time to show this dolly and how it works. Now, that means I need to finally build a storage shed WITH a cement floor for my tractor. And $200?? That is a fricking bargain. If someone can afford the tractor, you can _easily_ afford this necessary accessory.

I did a poor man's floor. Used the loader bucket to put down gravel and spread it smooth by backdragging, then laid treated 3/4 inch plywood with anchor pins at all four corners. I used about 15 sheets of plywood butted to each other. I can live with the anchor pins slightly above grade. I roll things around them without too much issue. They're basically 18 inch long rebars with washer and nut welded to one end. I drilled out the plywood at the corners and drove these into the gravel and soil. None have moved in 2 years of driving on them. Cost me a fraction of the cost of cement and I can lay on them just like a cement floor and they're a bit warmer in winter.

Thanks so much for your excellent video! my dolly should be here in a week or two and this was very helpful. something that I’ve also heard is also worth it is to add the mudd’s custom handle to the backhoe it’s excellent for an additional grab bar but it also is an easier way to maneuver your dolly. Although you didn’t seem to have any trouble, my friend loves it because he has an easy and convenient place to grab without always accidentally getting covered in grease.

Great video. I really like the abridged removal/install of the bh. Seems to me it should be easy enough to build a level wood floor outdoors for the dolly and bh . Makes install/removal a piece of cake. No need to drive or back up the tractor six inches to connect. Got to get one.

@@ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm My order has finally shipped. Let's hope it's worth the wait. Should be here in a week or so. Meanwhile, I have the covered bh stored in an open field on a pallet. I'm building a platform on which to park the bh and dolly, and I plan on switching back and forth with my wood chipper as needed. Eventually I hope to enclose the 16x16 platform and use it as a barn. Price of wood is dragging me down, though.

I used to avoid taking off the BH whenever possible - Now it's no big deal...

@@ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm Well, I just finished putting the bh on the bx dolly. There is a learning curve for folks like me. I actually dumped the bh and had to
re-hoist it onto the dolly. The bh controller movements confuse me and are a bit jerky, but I finally got it on and off and disconnected the h-lines. Not bx's
or JD's fautt. Mine, for sure. I tend to learn by trial and error. Another problem people might have is re-connecting the h-line so as to use the 3 point hitch.
Even after bleeding both connectors I had a devil of a time getting the hitch to work. But it's working now, though, and these problems are just part of the game. Pack plenty of rags if you sweat a lot.

😮 Wow - sounds like you had a time of it. We all go through some challenges the 1st couple of times we take the BH off the 1025r. That's why I dreded doing it until I got the BXpanded dolly. The hydraulic connectors are a real pain to reconnect some times. Especially when reconnecting the the 3-point lines back together. You really need to insure that they couple together completely (firmly) or as you experienced the 3-point worn't work. I always move the front loader joy stick around a few times and the BH controls a few times before disconnecting anything - This does seem to help. I remember the 1st time taking off the BH was the worst - I'll bet I connected & reconnected the 3 point couplers 3-4 times before I could get the 3 point to work properly... Itwill be easier next time for you, I promise...😀

  • @aday1637
    @aday1637 Před 2 lety +2

thanks for the video...I have the bxpanded dolly now for over a year and have had sporadic success...no instructions either so I may have been doing it wrong.....I've had to use the outriggers more than once to get it back on (using the tractor back and forth) which is a real pain. I see how the ridges in the frame on this thing prevent the unit from sliding forward causing the bucket to come off while trying to insert the pins in the hooks. I either had the bh frame on the ridges or behind them. Not knowing where the bh should be after removed from the tractor is important. If it weren't for youtube we'd all be in the dark.
Personally, I hate removing or installing the bh on my 1025r. I had built a wooden one that was somewhat different than your's and it seemed to work better than nothing. So I spent the $175 (at the time of my purchase) and got the metal one. It worked great now and then but as mentioned above not all the time. Lack of instruction is shameful. I installed my wheels in the same configuration as you did as this seemed to be most logical. I still hate to remove or install the bh and wish I had another tractor to use for chores where I need other rear attachments and just leave the bh installed all the time.

Thanks for tuning in to our channel - I just had another follower mention that when he got his BXpanded dolly it came with instructions on assembly and use. I just sent them an email a couple of days ago asking for them to email me a copy for my records. Maybe you want to do the same. (contact@bxpanded.com) -> I felt there was a big difference between the homemade dolly and the BXpanded. With a few times of practice I can get the 260B backhoe off and on pretty easily with the BX. When the BH is on the dolly I leave it fully collapsed (towards the bucket) before sliding it back on and aligninig it with the pins on the tractor frame. Thankfully, I have never had to use the out-riggers to get it to drop into place. Man, that would be a pain. Best of luck. Reach out to my email if I can help (it's on the "About Page") Take care...

Be careful about the height of the dolly. I have turf tires and my machine sit's about 3/4" lower. The homemade dolly with a 4x4 would not go under my machine I had to lay a 2x4 flat with a piece of pine on top of it. Not sure how that effects the BXpanded one but from the looks of this video it wouldn't fit... I would do some measuring first. **EDIT: Just saw a video with Turf tires and he had to drop the stabilizers to get the dolly underneath then raised them to remove the 'hoe. that power beyond hose connection is the poorest design they should have put bulkhead fittings on the machine it would have been so much simpler to connect and disconnect

So true + the way they designed the BH hook-up is difficult - don’t know how anyone can do it without a dolly on flat level ground 👍

If the BH sits on the Bxpanded dolly`s for a long period of time (like mine does), you`ll notice the wheels will get flat spots in them from all the weight of the BH. Makes them VERY hard to roll.
And Bxpanded is terrible about not putting instructions with their products, and terrible weld joints too. I ended up building a much better dolly for my Kubota BX23s BH for a lot less money.

Thanks Larry - Good to know - I usually put my backhoe right back on my 1025r after using another implement - I never bothered getting ballast box so I use my BH for that purpose. What did you build your dolly out of? Welded steel? I'd be interested in seeing what you did. Thanks for tuninig in to our channel...

I’m not happy with BX they took my money and I have not received what I ordered I contacted them and they told me it could take 6 to 8 weeks so then why did you take my money.bill me after it’s shipped then I think it’s a shady company

I know they are a small company out of Knoxville, TN - I built my wooden dolly 2 years ago because their delivery was out over 8 weeks - then a year later I was able to get it in just 2 weeks - so go figure? I know there’s huge material shortages & logistic issues in this crazy world right now - it’s amazing anyone can stay in business… You’ll be happy when you get it - I can get my BH off & on in under 10 minutes - no more battles when changing out attachments👍
