    Tyler great video, you can never do to much maintenance. I am like you, its a lot cheaper to do maintenace more often than to have a breakdown and you have to put the unit in the shop.

    Nice work, Tyler. You saved a nice chunk of money doing it yourself and saved on the wear-tear of your machine by changing fluids early. When I used to work on my own vehicles, I'd change fluids earlier than the manual would state to make sure they lasted. I've done less maintenance on tractors than on my trucks but the same principle applies. Enjoyed a full-watch. Thanks for the video. Enjoy Labor Day.

    Finally: 2010 BX25, 3235 hours, first front axle oil change. Always been low, as in there was oil in the spindles, but none in the center. Tonight, with new seals installed, it is time to top it up- with some 80-90w. 🙂

    Thanks Tyler. I googled and hit this video. Doing a 200 hour (actually 220) service and needed to check oil specs on my BX23S front axle. I'm not seeing ANY oil on my dipstick. Did a full oil drain and fill with UDT on my hydraulic system (as spec by my dealer in Townsville, Australia) (have since found out that UDT2 is superior oil). Now I know I can use the same oil in the diff I'll drain and fill. Subscribed. Back to work ...... ;-)

      @@malcolmcheyne3803 There have been several people state that their front axle oil level was extremely low after they had their machine for a while, most likely due to the dealer never topping it off during setup.

    Awesome video! Great idea on the compressor. Not sure is this is a good mechanic best practice, but I jack up the front of the tractor and slowly spin the tires (both ways), which helps get the air out. I prefer not to get the tractor dirty and add fluids (I am really anal about dust, annoyingly so). Thanks

    My dealer gave me a coupon for the materials to do the first service on the machine at 50 hours .. I am prob gonna do it at 25 hrs because it is the first service on a brand new machine i think that will actually help the tractor in the long term to do the first service early..

      I just did my 50 hour service at 48 hours, ehh only a couple hours early, but I'm going to be mowing my lawn, and a co-worker's field tomorrow so I don't want to run it way past its service...fluids all looked really good for the break-in change, was surprised the transmission filter screen was extremely clean as well considering several videos I have watched that show their filter screens just caked in debris during their initial service. I switched to UDT2 as its a full synthetic hydraulic fluid when I changed the hydraulic fluid in it yesterday, figured I'd put the good stuff in and not have to worry about it for a while...I think its a 400 hour service interval for hydraulic fluid, but like everything else I'll keep checking it and change it when it gets dirty even if its long before the 400 hour service. Its more important to keep things serviced properly than follow a number in a book, whatever I can do to prolong its life I'll do. Keeping up with maintenance is far more important than clicking off hours on the hour meter to follow a book schedule.

    Thanks for the video. I have just gotten a bx23s and am doing the first fluid change. But I am curious about the oil. The udt2 fluid is really light, but you say one could also use 80-90 gear lube. I thought the gear lube would be really thick .

    • @Tyler_Koehn
      @Tyler_Koehn  Před 2 lety

      Your welcome Oscar. That's what they spec out in the manual. The 80-90 is definitely alot thicker!

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c Před 2 lety

      Manual states you can use either UDT, UDT2, or 80W-90. Many people will switch to 80W-90, but its up to you, both fluids will lubricate the same, the 80W-90 may not flow as well when cold, but not really sure that would cause any trouble for the axle. Going to change the axle fluid in my BX2680 this weekend and I'm just going to put the UDT2 in it I think.

    • @Tyler_Koehn
      @Tyler_Koehn  Před 3 lety

      They do seem to be better in mud and snow and I don't go on hard surfaces much so I was not worried about wearing them out quickly but the main reason i had punctured a sidewall so between these being 10ply sidewalls and brushogging/ skidding loggs in muddy areas and their price I opted to go this route. I also had the fronts solid filled.

      Last summer I changed the fluid in the front axle and fulled it with 3.8 quarts of gear oil. I checked all the fluids yesterday and noticed the level in the front axle was down a full quart, now I know why.
      I must have assumed the BX23 and the BX25 used the same axle but apparently they're not the same.
