      Please Apollo Phantom or even better the ludicrous. It's not all about speed, safety and build quality along with after sales service to me are 3 more important things. I was gutted when Boosted rev went bust in my option is still the best built scooter ever made, shame the battery let it down. Mines still in the garage awaiting for a company to mod the battery and controller 😊

    My neighbor let me try out his burn e yesterday! Coming from a D4+ I couldn’t have imagined how smooth the sine controller acceleration would be. It was really able to go walking speed but also accelerate immediately without surprising even the most inexperienced rider. I’d argue for safety reasons alone that beats almost any scooter!!

    I'm so glad that ESG finally tested the BURN-E! When will you guys test the Rion Thrust? It's $9,500 + shipping, but it'll blow away your acceleration and top speed records again!

    This is an incredible scooter. I wish I would have known about this when I got my storm in January (I know it wasn't even a rumor then). One thing I don't like about the viper is the controls for horn and signals are on the same side as the throttle. I wonder if they can be moved to the other side?

      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před 2 lety +5

      I think they can be moved, but there are already some switches on the other side. I'll check it out on Monday when I'm back in the office.

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thank you so much for the reply, Paul! I can't wait for you review of the storm! I do love this scooter and is the best scooter I own. My settings are as follows:

      PD 0
      I have very little gripes about this scooter, outside its top speed. I'm a little on the heavy side at 220lbs and have achieved a top speed of 50mph. I was hoping to see more when advertised was over 62mph, and do understand 62+mph is under specific riding conditions including rider weight. However, I have become quite comfortable riding slower, which is why I am on full slow start in my settings. The suspension cartridges are quite stiff, but it makes me more confident that it'll stick to the road better. I love the huge deck and insanely loud horn. But my oh my, I'll spill more beans when your review gets uploaded. You guys have the most intuitive reviews and I'm excited to see what you guys think of the storm!

      Yeah, it doesn't have that level of adjustment. I'm more bothered by the dead zone than the delay/ramp-up speed of the throttle. Both Chuck and I find riding the Wolf King to be a little like a big block American car, and the NAMI is a little more like a V12 Ferrari. I don't miss the abruptness when I'm on the NAMI, but it would be nice if everyone could dial the throttle response to their own taste!

      One of the things I like about tubless tires is that tire sealant like Armor Dilloz works really well, as do tire plugs. Tubless tires are also not prone to pinch flats. But you're right, these tires are a pain to change. I've done a Wolf Warrior tire change and it was no fun at all (and I used to wrench for a living). If I had to pick, I'd go tubeless (which of course means non-split rims). -Paul

    Much as I love the latest greatest innovations, I can't help but wonder how the cf stem will perform in a headon crash. Being way >100lbs, its obvious the Nami Viper's raison d'etre isn't its light weight so I can't help but wonder if power coated steel isn't a better material. It'll obviously be cheaper with just as much strength & somewhat malleable if we so choose. No real reason for cf except for the 'wow' factor.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před 2 lety +1

      The carbon stem actually has a great feel to it. It has a very tight flex. Some stems can actually feel too stiff (ninebot Max comes to mind). Michael Sha has an amazing testing rig he built to cycle the stem through thousands of cycles of strain. Rions have been using carbon stems for a while, but you're right, in that case it's almost for sure because of weight.
      Michael told me that he actually worked in the carbon fiber industry for a while, and at one point considered making the entire chassis out of carbon fiber. -Paul

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide IMO I think the 'too stiff' argument is valid but only for non suspended scoots. I started with a M365pro & dang if it didn't ring my bell over harsh terrain. • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Joshua,
      That's a good question. I'm really glad you asked it. I suppose the question could also be posed the other way around.
      We spent weeks actually riding, testing, and evaluating the BURN-E scooter scientifically. We then compared that data to the data we collected from over 75 other scooters. Then we also gave our take on the less quantifiable stuff like ride quality, and disclosed the suspension adjustments needed to make the scooter as good as it can be.
      We had some issues with our scooter right out of the box and we disclosed all of them. In fact, one commenter suggested that we were in danger of killing a new brand because we were being too critical of it. Here's a link to the first look video:. You should be able to find the comment I'm referring to there. czcams.com/video/TPu7CKoPt6g/video.html
      It sucks that the other reviewer got a replacement scooter with steering bearings that were too tight, and then reviewed it without riding the scooter.
      I definitely feel for folks who waited patiently for their BURN-E scooters to arrive only to be disappointed, in some cases twice by damage or tuning issues. I felt that feeling myself, when our stem-hinge arrived bent and I straightened it so I could test the scooter.
      Having ridden the scooter quite a bit, my feeling is that the design fundamentally very good, but they have gotten the easy stuff wrong on some of the scooters: tuning and shipping. Fortunately, the shipping issue seems to be solved. At this point, they really do need to be on top of their game for having scooters arriving undamaged and in good tune, because as a new brand you only get so many chances. I really hope they get quality to 100% soon, because it's fundamentally a very very good scooter to ride, and I'd like to see them continue to make more of them.
      Happy to discuss here, or you can email me at my first name followed by @ followed by electric-scooter.guide if you'd like. If need be, we could also do a phone call. -Paul

They all fall in the same price range.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před 2 lety

      Hi Joshua,
      We probably won't do a comparo of those directly. But I did spend a lot of time with the Pegasus recently. The Pegasus is a good value but needed some tuning out of the box. The rear brakes on ours didn't work at all as delivered. The suspension is very stiff, particularly in the front which I didn't like at first, but it actually works well that way, and I grew to like it. It had decent braking once the brakes were tuned. The front brakes ended up having a concerning issue later.
      For me, wide, flat-profile tires feel really odd when you start cornering. As you get toward the edge of the wheel they start feeling really odd. I feel the same way about the Wide Wheel though, and a lot of people love those. I think the Pegasus could be good with different wheels and tires. I do like the Pegasus tires more than the widewheel tires. The throttle is a bit abrupt if you turn up all the P-settings, like we always do. The deck feels good,
      The Pegasus does have one of the best displays ever. Super super easy to read. I think the fonts and layout could be improved just a little, but in terms of over all form and function I hope to see it on many many more scooters in the future. -Paul

      I've gone 58.8 mph on it without wobble, once the suspension set up was done. When I raced motorcycles for 5.5 years, I never found that I needed a damper either. That said, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to have one when they release it as a product. In the review we did call out the steering stop as a weak point. On our BURN-E the cables don't pull when steering left and right. On our BURN-E the screen does not contact anything, though it does come close to the footrest when folded. When I interviewed Michael Sha. I asked him about the lack of bracket to latch the stem to deck when folded (here's the moment in the interview where I ask about it czcams.com/video/Nn3WezRvWJA/video.html) and also call out the lack of a bracket in the review. Michael says the reason there is no bracket is that it's not made to pick up by the stem.

      Our speed runs are pretty stringent though. I ride them two directions, back to back, at sea-level on flat ground, and average the two speed runs together to cancel out the effect of headwinds or tail winds. I also sustain the top speed for a long time when I do it, typically 1/4 mile at top speed, to be sure that the curve has flattened out. The whole run that I do is 1/2 mile long in each direction.
