Lovely to be out and about with the Professor I agree with you on bureaucracy and the systemic issues that prioritize procedure over genuine human connection. Have a wonderful weekend.

The difficulty with all of the online automated services is getting issues resolved.

Nationwide blocked my card all over Easter because I wanted to pay £70 for a subscription. I had to go into Cambridge, and I live some way from Cambridge, just to go into the damn bank, where I had to answer 300 questions before they finally unblocked my card. I pointed out to them that, given I had not reported my card as stolen, it was me making the damn payment. Oh, they said, it's automatic. If the system thinks you are paying outside what the system thinks you normally pay, they automatically block your card. I told them if they did it again, I would be changing banks.

Can you imagine if the toilets and sewage system malfunctioned. The shit would quite literally be everywhere.

I had a complaint against my energy supplier. They offered me £200 if I closed the complaint as resolved. It wasn't resolved so I refused, in response they withdrew the offer. I took it to the ombudsman and won so they had to pay the £200 in the end.
I did make the point that I felt I was being bribed and it should be a matter for the police, but nothing came of that as far as I know. Just waiting for the standing charge to go up so they can grab the money back.

Hola from Spain...nothing seems to work in the UK...I have been waiting 2 months for my P60 to complete my Spanish tax return...if it is not completed on time, I may be fined...very frustrating...

Banks are a law unto themselves. In the case of central banks, literally so. Many are sited in enclaves that are technically not a part of the surrounding country. The Bank of England is in the City of London which is not England, the US Federal Reserve is similar as is the Bank of International Settlement in Switzerland.
If banks worked as hard on the large-scale money-laundering issues as it did on personal-level fraud I would be much more sympathetic.
I had a similar experience with my credit card. I ordered some new computer parts so I could build a new PC and the payment was blocked on the basis that it was "unusual". I agreed. I do not build myself a new PC every year. Several calls both to the supplier and to the bank ensued. What fun!

Off topic, holocaust survivor Stephen Kapos is discussed by Israel using reference to the holocaust as justification for their actions in Gaza, their delegates wearing yellow stars an insult to the memory of people like Stephen who were forced to wear them.

Did you know that people have documented over 200 references to the famous six million number prior to WW2. Could it be that the number has be used in the same was as we say "five minutes" these days. That is, it means a short time and not necessarily exactly 300,000 milliseconds. I once heard that "forty days and forty nights" could also be similarly imprecise.
The frequent use of the same number would seem to imply a greater meaning somewhere along the line.

Bureaucracy works, often not well but it generally does work. Organisations need systems, systems that work for the vast majority, even if they fail for some. As to Banks, those systems need to provide security to themselves and their clients. This in the face of growing fraud.

Just wait till The Government forces you to use CBDC’s Central Bank Digital Currencies…. What’s to worry about? What could go wrong?
    Lol, everything,

CBDCs will be fun! They could be linked to a Social Credit system like the one in China. Imagine if your social credit score is not large enough to buy a return flight so you can fly one way but have to return by train, for instance.
Imagine if they make your money "time limited." That is, you get paid an amount but you have to spend it within the month or lose it. That way they can limit your savings.
It may be impossible to buy certain things. If you have had two pork chops this month your next meal will need to be insect-based, for instance.
If you are heating your home too much then your payments might be limited and the link to your smart meter might turn off your electricity supply for you!
The ideas that the psychopaths might come up with are too many to list.
