  • This video briefly introduces the development and general organization of nervous system.
    - component of Central Nervous (CNS) versus Peripheral Nervous System'(PNS)
    - Development of Nervous System (Neural plate, neural groove, neural crest and neural tube)
    - Neural tube differentiate to 3 vesicles from cranial to caudal are prosencephalon, mesencephalon and rhombencephalon. The prosencephalon then divides to telencephalon (cerebrum and lateral ventricle is its cavity), and Diencephalon (thalmus and hypothalamus and 3rd ventricle is their cavity), and Rhombencephalon divides to metencephalon (pons and cerebellum) and myelencphalon (medulla). Cerbral aqueduct is the cavity of mesencephalon (midbrain) and fourth ventricle is the cavity of rhombencephalon.
    - Neuron (Soma, Dendrites, axon and axon terminal): The neuron can be classified according to the structure/shape to: Multipolar (one axon and multiple dendrites, unipolar (axon, no dendrites), bipolar (2 axons, one connected to dendrites and other to axon terminal), Pseudounipolar (2 processes or axons one peripheral towards the periphery and one central towards the CNS and both connected to a ganglion or soma with stem)
    - Neurons functionally can be: 1) Sensory carrying sensory information to CNS (Afferent), 2) Motor carrying motor instruction to muscles (Efferent), 3) internueron connecting neurons together in CNS, may connect sensory to motor neurons for neuronal integration.
    - Glial cell: they are supporting cells play role in blood retinal barrier (astrocytes in CNS but Satellite cells in PNS), immune function (microglial similar to macrophages), myelination of CNS (oligodendrocytes), myelination of PNS (Schwan cells) and finally Ependymal cells (CSF formation),
