I used to show the gifts as part of ' @The Chateau Diaries ' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us 💖💖💖
If you would like to see more of our life at the chateau, please go to our main 'Chateau Diaries' channel:

that jewelry you received from New Mexico is worth tens of thousands of dollars and highly significant to the American Southwest culture. It's not costume jewelry. If you decide to send that to a thrift store please DM me as I live in New Mexico and would welcome the honor to have such beautiful and deeply meaningful pieces of art. Dan was very generous to send to you....may you truly provide them with a home where they will be honored and loved for their heritage.

What fantastic gifts. Dan is a generous soul, and so talented as well! It’s so lovely that he is sharing these gifts with us and everyone at Laland. What truly thoughtful and significant pieces. Anyone who watches the blogs will know that Stephanie will deep-dive research all of these artifacts right away, she tenacious about learning history of different arts and cultures. And we all benefit from it. These are gifts that will truly be treasured.
I love that her aunt could tell the significance of every piece and It’s so lovely that Stephanie is doing what she always does by sharing everything she has. I am confident she will find the right homes for each of these special treasures.

As a lover of Southwestern (US)/Native American jewelry, I can assure you that you now have a collection worth $thousands. Those pieces are one of a kind, and highly sought after. The carved animals are significant of spirits and the bird portrayed in the hand woven rug is called a road runner. Enjoy and keep in a safe place. 🌺

Yes, absolutely extraordinary examples of 🌵Southwestern🦎 artistry. Mind-blowing 🤯!
🤩Tante looks lovely in the coral necklace. Hopefully, they'll set at least one aside for 🥰Mummy too.
😘Stephanie & Nati both look striking in turquoise.
The beaded 💙 blue necklace might be my personal favorite, but those crosses are stunning too. Just blown away by the beauty of all the cocktail rings, necklaces, & earrings. Hopefully, they'll source a jewelry or acrylic box with trays for the pieces heading to the costume cupboard.
🙏God bless dear Dan for forwarding such sacred treasures to ⚜️LaLande.
🤔Think you may rest assured that they are now in good hands. That bust of Jesus is truly moving, esp. in the chapel. The book & cards are sensational.
Smashing textiles too. 😍Philip will be handsome in tunic/banyan, & the bronze medallions are marvelous.

OMG 😱 I’ve just dropped my jaw & had to pick it up from off the floor!!!! I’ve often dropped you a couple of lines I’m from Santa Fe New Mexico and from the small villages mentioned by Dan who gave you those very expensive I mean truly expensive jewelry you should get those items insured those hair pieces are very old and to buy one of those now would be a thousand dollars alone the silver work alone and if you look on the back I’ll bet there signed by the artist. The turquoise necklace is probably close to or more than $5,000 alone the other necklaces are probably worth the same those silver double sided crosses are very old as well!! Please get them insured!!!!! I’m floored that no one in his family didn’t want any of those pieces just floored!! You are one extremely lucky woman!!! I would die to own just one of those pieces. Also get that head appraised as well just can’t get over what you’ve received from that man!!! Please talk to your insurance agent about that jewelry keep it somewhere safe they are very precious and extremely rare!!! Love to all Stephanie USA

Stephanie, I know you read all the comments so I’m sure you now know that the gifts from Dan are worth thousands of dollars and are of museum quality. They could be displayed in a vitrine in the chateau and as they deserve to be viewed by all the visitors to La Lande maybe a lockable vitrine in the entry would be appropriate or even in the Grand Salon. The turquoise pieces would go so well with the paneling.

I've read some of the comments on taking care of Dan's generous and valuable gifts, for what it's worth , in my humble opinion, I think an inventory list should be done & pictures taken, especially since they seem to have history & meaning attached to all the pieces, it would be a shame to lose track of any of them, especially if you re-gift anything. Thank you for sharing, take care of each other, stay well! Much love Kathy x

And yes they need to be identified as part of the inventory. I don’t know if Dan sent a list with descriptions. If not he may be willing to describe them and their origin. With as much jewellery as you get thru Cadeau, you need to make some kind of massive jewellery "box": One idea would be to take a wardrobe into Narnia, and instead of shelves, make a swing rack (like the ones used to display posters in stores) inside, attached to the back of the wardrobe (to shut up and keep them dust-free in the meantime), each case filled with a gridded metal sheet to hook necklaces, earrings and rings onto. That way, you'd be able to find and choose what you and your guests need for your many parties!

@@neilchisholm8376 That sounds like an elegant solution, but also an expensive one to pull off in rural France, and with the amount of jewellery they have & continue to receive. Display is one aspect, but space-saving is another consideration...

Dan has truly blessed you with a box of very precious Native American art work, all the hand carved pieces. It’s not just jewelry, it tells a story . Several of those pieces are museum worthy. As a collection it would pay for your château. New Mexico tribes will be sorry to see them leave the state. Funny to see Phillip get excited about the Easter stuffie but the priceless hand carved necklace was placed aside. Aunties necklace alone is worth thousands. Please place them in a safe place. Just priced the bust , it’s current sale value is $12,000 American . There’s another listed at $18 000. What amazes me is Dan just mailed them to you in the regular post.

    • @jennifercampbell7698
      @jennifercampbell7698 Před 2 lety +9

Yes I wonder too about the importance of the jewellery. As you say the New Mexico tribes may be sorry to see it leave the country. I’m sure Dan would accept this if the jewellery collection is of importance.

The white gloves might make a lovely gift to a nunnery, if there are any left. The history of them might be appreciated by them, there are lots of things about priests, bishops, monks etc. but much less about artifacts of the nuns. The gloves might tarnish or get moldy in the dampness of the chapel. They have been well looked after up to this point and having the history attached to them somehow would be important.

This really needs to be on display for people to view on and reflect.❤️ Like michaelangelo its history a world where people were slower and took time to create things out of love for their art. 🌸

@@maureenreid They sure are expensive even the smaller circles of bronze are probably museum pieces. That sounds good maybe he could show how best to display like in antique cabinet with historic write up in a glass display apart from bust as that is a chapel thing.x

That beaded hair piece is the pattern of a Navajo wedding basket. The turquoise and shell necklaces are fetish necklaces. The orange beaded necklace is spiny oyster shell. (Same as the orange on the cross pendant) Love the clay story teller necklace. I would look these things up so you understand the spiritual meanings and traditions with the jewelry. Look up the Ortega family as well! The inlayed bird earrings are from Zuni Pueblo. The silver earrings are Hopi Kachinas. There are many kinds. It’s really fun to study the Kachinas meaning. These aren’t manufactured. They are made from scratch. Stones hand cut. The silver watch is a Kokopelli. The stone horse is a fetish.

Please make one of the rooms in chateau for displaying all the beautiful pieces or jewelry headpieces and such so you can take us on a tour through I’m sure so many people would love to see all these items on display and watch you go in and choose from the lovely gifts to accessorize your outfit of the day. It also gives the added bonus of the sender seeing you select and wear them. Maybe a room from the servant quarters that’s not being used and you could put up some rails for clothes and hooks for necklaces. Oh I can just imagine all the beautiful gifts you’ve been given hanging in there.

Usually in native American jewelry that is Coral, not carnelian. I'm sure you can find their style made with all sorts of gems, and even authentic natives that do more precious jewelry. But authentic native american jewelry in this style is usually coral, turquoise, and/or wampum (shell). 🥰✌

While it was kind of him to give those Native American items to you, maybe consider donating them to a NM museum and allow them to return to their cultural home so many more can enjoy. (Obviously you could discuss this with him and how this might differ from his intentions.) Consider it your monthly Cadeaux donation;-)

Stephanie and Philip, I’m late to the party today but judging by the comments you heard from practically the whole damn country on the $😱value of the Native American jewelry. I also collect and the comments are right on. But beyond the dollars, I’m also glad this incredible assortment of American artistry now lives with you at Lalande. You have so many followers from here. A significant piece of America (in addition to Nati!) just landed with a loud thunk in your backyard, and that’s marvelous.

What I understand, Stephanie, is that you are from an exceptional loving family and it all shows on your personality. Thank you for showing the beautiful and thoughtful gifts, and I like that the chapel is not forgotten.
A nice way to put necklaces is to make a jewelry tree and hang them on driftwood. Sometimes branches like that can be found on a beach, cleaned by the waves and dried by the sun. But you can have one made more suitable for a chateau style.

Stephanie, that was an amazing collection of gifts from Dan.
    The gloves are so exquisite.
The Hmong pillows are one of my personal favorites. I became familiar with their handcraft living in Minnesota, where many clans were relocated from the hills of Laos and Cambodia following the Viet Nam war. Their skill at embroidery and stitching is nothing short of marvelous.
The roadrunner "rug" should be displayed properly and respectfully to showcase its beauty. If it were mine, it would never be placed on the floor.
The magnificent bronze bust would have been beyond generous by itself.
I'm amazed that Dan would be willing to part with so many treasures.
Yes Stephanie, every piece Dan gifted you was a work of art. He has incredible taste.
The American Southwestern native silver, turquoise, red coral pieces have deep religious significance.
I hope you all enjoy your incredible gifts. Thank you Dan for sharing the bounty God has granted you throughout you life. You have been truly blessed.
