That’s my friend on harp!!
Is he single 🤭
@@JoshWittenot needed
@@MattoxSuttle chill out...
What's his name? I was trying to see who it was!
Adam Phan. He went to Juliard!
That guitar solo is dope. Nice riff.
It takes a lot of humility to be able to shift from college kid chill music to social commentary without it feeling like bait. Ezra you have stayed the same amidst the tumultous change of the world. That is admirable and shows the strength of your character ❤ bless your mom
I feel like there was social commentary on the early albums? It's definitely more pronounced now, but it's not like the first album was devoid of cultural analysis
Happy Mother's Day! I'm sure Ezra's mom is pleased with his posture.
😂
I’m his mom, and yes I am.
He probably does Pilates.
So impressed at Ezra’s vocal performance here! You can tell he has worked hard on his intonation and it shows! 🙏🏼
Yeah definitely. He’s been a pitchy live singer
I think it’s autotune, I saw some recent performances and still pitchy 😅
This is so lovely and soothing while rocking out at the same time. Such a great song!
Love vampire weekend! Im also glad they still sound like themselves Stellar performance.
It's 2007 all over again because of Vampire Weekend. Rock on! 🎸🤩👏🏻
Amen! This performance rocked!
Hell yeah, player! 🤘🏾
Nah. No Rostam
“Nature's creative power is far beyond man's instinct of destruction.”
― Jules Verne, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
Piano part is so tough
😂
Best musical guest this season
What a blast from the past! Nice to see they are still around --
Jesus it’s been 16 years since the first album. I felt so young listening to the song but then I had to google the dates…
ariel killed it 🎸
Awesome to see Ariel playing with them. Such a fantastic partnership.
I've enjoyed every performance I've seen from them on SNL. Their music is like Eloquent Chaos.
Those lyrics have an impressive depth of thought and understanding. I credit it to them and their parents talking with each other and thinking things through together.
they're also all well educated lol they met while studying at columbia
What a killer band. Aces.
I love their sound
Saw them yesterday live at Kilby Block Party in SLC!
any good?
@@YarrBr0 They were awesome. Played stuff from every album. Tons of energy. Went nearly 2 hours. Tons of surprises, solos (guitar, sax, etc), and elite execution. I recommend going to see them on tour this year.
when i saw them live in austin and realized ezra was no longer the lead guitar it was shocking lmfao
Yes! So Happy Vampire Weekend was musical guest. Good stuff!
Saturday night live greatness
saw them live in New Orleans two weeks ago. loved the way they adjusted their sound to the big brass vibes, and love this chiller set. great all around!
the fact that this fits perfectly to what has been going on in academia since the april 17… and the fact that they’re from columbia makes this %100 more special
👏😎 Very nice tuneage. Also, too; SNL has the best set design for their musical guest, I love it. 🌠🌃
They've been best new band for 20 years. Hahaha. Love them
This was my favorite song in a fucking great album, they’re back!!!
Clean cut? What is happening?? I love it
LETSSGOOO BOIS
that guitar tone is unbelievable
I like the 2nd number better, but this is pretty.
Best song on SNL in a loooong time.
Love love them! Great set, guys!
Love his vocals.
what a performance!
Beautiful Performance! Vampire ❤️
Still got it! Their newest album is great
Is that Ariel on guitar?
he is
We needed this and we didn't even know
This was fuhking awesome! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍💯💯💯💯💯💯
Wow. Enioyed so much❤❤❤
Love the song!
GD yes!
"Hey Ezra, song's starting. You wanna stand up?"
"Nah, I'm good."
That said he has five times more presence sitting down than Travis Scott has standing up
Hope.
Beautiful Performance 💯💯💯
🔥🔥🔥
Awesome!
So cool
They did an amazing job props
Thrilling.
Awesome 😎
nice to see a good art school band , again
What do u mean?
@@Paddyjay12 the first 5 comments i see all have replies from you i cant tell if ur a bot or just a big fan atp
imo, probably one of VW's best songs.
I'm so glad they are back
Lead singer looks like Ramsay Bolton from Game of Thrones
I have to gently admit though I'm not a big fan, I can't deny that they know how to perform live like real professionals. I miss that in a lot of modern bands.
i hope CT's foot feels better, it got run over by a car like 2 or 3 weeks ago but he's still been performing lmfao
They didn’t do Mary Boone?
Now TV didn't show this clip in their UK broadcast
2 Base players? Love it!
????
no? it's just Chris Baio as always
The lead singer looks like a combo of Bo Burnham and Ramsey Bolton
this ain't a song, but a Manifesto
Is rock back?🙂
Who tf was in charge of the sound?! The drums sound like they’re underwater
This is great. Anyone know who the guitarist is?
Ariel Rechsthaid
@@Nastassani Thanks!
He also produced co-wrote the songs.
Kyle Mooney in the LA hat on guitar? 😮
Flawless! Gen X Cops doesn’t get the hype it deserves. Better than Capricorn imo! Both performances were great 🎉
Yep agreed about Gen-X Cops!
Each generation makes it’s own apology…
Only God Was Above Us is a great album. Kind of wish they would have played Classical or Mary Boone instead of Gen X Cops though.
This rips
I miss Rostam
its not bad but just not the same band without rostam, it just sounds like a completely different band.
Miss Rostam though
Their name sounds like something out of the 90s.
Early 2000s band.
They've been around since 2006.
It’s very bikini kill coded
@@EMVelez ??? It’s just the name? It sounds similar. I know they are from different decades/genres. I never said they were similar in that aspect(they aren’t), it’s just the names that sound close. Vampire Weekend, Bikini Kill; grim but blasé, vacation elements mixed with death, like duh
@@EMVelez 🙄
The drummer though 👀😏
The live version is way better. You can really hear how aggressive the guitar is.
Funniest sketch of the night.
Your sketches were so amazing though! 🙄
LMAO
SNL sound output is still bad for musical guests
Somebody needs to make an Vampire Weekend themed Air B&B 🧛🧛♀️🦇👹
The most ketchup-is-spicy band of the early 21st century. Sincerely shrugging.
I hope Saturday night live Makes fun of stormy Daniels and Donald Trump situation.
Who r they
The singer looks like the guy from please don't destroy.
I thought this was Johnny Depp's band, then I remembered that is Hollywood Vampires.
Primer comentario....holaaaa
7.5
The best part of the show last night imo apologies to Maya
Fifth
Why in the ever loving hell would they allow her for sleepovers if she constantly wants to be picked up?
wrong video
They have a kinda 70s vibe.
The 70s were ok...
I think that they need a little more soulful bluesy sound to be perfect. ❤
first!!!
not a single comment giving recognition to the message of this song lmao i hear u boys!! 🤩🤩 still waiting on all those generations to make apologies tho 🤣🐷🔫
Never heard of these guys until last week and was excited to hear them play. I wasn't impressed though. It was too calm for my taste
Who?
Sitting at a piano and not gonna play it? Boo. Click bait.
He did play it.
Where is the Weekend? It's just a bunch of non vampire white boys. 😢😢
I can guarantee you NONE of them know any black people
And I can guarantee that you're ignorant. Do you even realize how stupid that comment is? 😶
Their two founding members are Jewish and Iranian. They've also collaborated with Steve Lacy, twice. At least do your research before you assume.
Ezra is married to Quincy Jones daughter.
@@Bob-pz7xr yes, racist. It is.
this song was the funniest thing in the entire episode this weekend
Why is this guy sitting? He barely touches the keys for 8 seconds. Awkward...
