- The Maverick has been a sales sensation for Ford. It has a SUPER LOW starting price point and is the first truck to come hybrid on the base trim. It has a useable 4.5ft bed, lots of interior space and a comfortable ride. Is the 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid the BEST most inexpensive new vehicle?

Maverick is what 50% of pickup truck buyers really need. Great video Joe!
More like 80 😂😊
U WING AND THE Y WING
I cracked up as Joe drove past all the F250’s, looked like a tiny RC truck in comparison 😂 I’m glad this thing exists, hope we get more from other brands in this segment!
Looks like a circus show tiny vehicle from which the clowns are gonna come out
it’s better to be a clown than cause more child deaths due to not being able to see what’s right in front of you with a big ahh truck
I ordered a Maverick at Corwin Ford in Reno, NV. When it was delivered to the dealership they sold it to someone else. Probably at a good markup. Careful with these stealerships.
How did they sell your truck? Did you order through ford's website and talk with the dealership about it?
Poor communication by the dealer
Sucks but whomever orders one, do your homework
You would have gotten VIN # from Ford not from dealership!
Haha Corwin is a total joke in the Midwest too, not surprised in the least they'd screw over a customer
You can really tell Mr. Raiti was once a high school teacher when he diverges into what you can put into storage areas.
I do love that simplistic, small truck vibe, as I’ve always just had sedans.
Hybrid is available across all trim levels. You may have gotten some incorrect info or be thinking about the fact that all wheel drive and tow package are not available with the hybrid.
@@3dognite learn to read.
AWD is not available on the hybrid version. I own a Mav turbo AWD in Park City I show in my content.
Joe, as I'm watching your review I glanced at the number of subscribers and I am very proud of you and Lori for reaching the 1 MIL subscriber milestone!
What? No dealer markup? Also, thanks for doing reviews on base trims!
Not at all. You are very welcome!
I love my Maverick! Hybrid XLT lux package, 38 mpg average in the past 5k miles. Drives smooth, parks anywhere, loads everything I need and more. Ford really made a great vehicle with a great price attached to it. The Maverick is actually what brought me to be a first time ford buyer
Yes, I have driven Mercedes, BMW, and Jeep 4WD and the Mavs I show in my content is more useful and fun than any of them.
This year the entry powertrain is the EcoBoost and the optional more expensive powertrain is the hybrid. In 2022 and 2023 the EcoBoost was optional. People want hybrids and economical cars in 2024, and automakers have all raised the price of their entry level models in response.
I like its simple yet four door worth looking truck. Does the job but doesn't need all that extra look that cost so much and sucks so much gas.
Picked my hybrid XLT Maverick 2/23 and couldn't be more pleased. Owned a '20 F150 XL reg cab/short bed and this trucklette fits my needs better. The mpg is stays around 40 combined. Ford has increased production, for '24 the hybrid engine is now a $1500 option, $24.9K for the XL. Still a lot of bang for the buck for someone who does occasional light hauling/towing. As usual great review.
Once a teacher ALWAYS a teacher 🌟
Awesome video! This was exactly what I was looking for in a review, TY
Fantastic!
I’ve never been a big truck guy, but if i could one of these for a price like THAT, I’ll absolutely consider it! I was looking at a Chevy Trax, I’d go this instead
Well, if you add destination fees, it’s $24k. Then with taxes and whatnot, it’s about $26.5k
But in reality, good luck finding an entry trim at MSRP
New to this channel I love the way you add humor to the review
I’ve owned my 2023 Ford Maverick XLT hybrid for over 6 months and I absolutely enjoy driving it around. The way I got it equipped was closer to $30k which I outfitted it with the luxury pkg and the spray in Bed liner. For still being under $30k, it is a very solid value with some additional niceties that were not in the XL such as heated seats and steering wheel, power driver seat, leather wrapped steering wheel and power inverter for the back seat and bed outlet. I also see easily high 30s to low 40s mpg and I have driven it nearly 600 miles between filling up the gas tank.
Nice summary. You should post videos like I do I will sub!
Amazing review Joe.
I’m for anything affordable in this day and age. I wouldn’t say it’s any more of a “pure truck” than the Santa Cruz though, being that they’re both unibody.
Tell me about it!
Show me where it says that a definition of a truck has to be body on frame.
@@jorgetech2985 - I didn’t say it did, only that one unibody truck is not anymore of a “pure truck” than another unibody model. Of course, body-on-frame affects towing and bed capacity, and that would be more of a pure truck based on pickups primary intention as work vehicles. I don’t need a strict definition for that.
It's like the Ford Courier utilities that were before Rangers got bigger...
I bought a CX30 because of this channel, now its time for a truck.. Thank you Raitis for all your hard work, 14.44 hit hard ...
We have one to do estimates around town and it’s awesome. 45mpg and we can throw some tools and a ladder in the bed. XL is the way to go.
Bro I love your snack descriptions for storage sizes, the best!
Joe, I like the overall styling of the Santa Cruz, but my Maverick has grown on me. You also cannot go wrong with the performance of it. I've got the AWD XLT, of course, which requires the 2.0L Ecoboost engine, and this thing flies when you want it too. Fuel mileage isn't bad either. My daily commute, even with winter-blend gas here in the northeast, I'm averaging almost 24 mpg and have gotten as high as 34 on the highway in hilly terrain.
Love your reviews. I really love my Maverick 2022 Lariat.
This truck 🛻 looks clean.Great review as always 👍
Back in 1970 Maverick was a Car from 1970-77 i had the 1976 Maverick Sedan
That is really cool!
Dealerships are marketing these up to $28,000 to $29,000!
If you can find one they all go straight to carvana and just sit for 35k
@@michaelbassett5105bingo
What a price ! I was going to zonk those wheels but for the price you buy after market wheels. Great review !
Love your reviews, ty for sharing the this one, always wanted to find one but@11:50 ... o Please tell me which actual dealer sells these at that price point and I'm heading there tomorrow ... I have yet to see a single XL base model below $29k after MSRP adjustments and that's for bare bone adjust your mirrors manually once ... most avg. $35 to $40k range and thats Nissan SV or Pro4x price point ...Lol
Raiti's Rides there is no substitute! And just as I need this review!
You are the best Matthew! Thanks for your support!
Merry Christmas Joe! Wishing you and your family the best.
That means so very much!
You said that the Santa Cruz is just a Tucson with a truck bed, but the Maverick is exactly that with the Escape
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video real true 👍
The hybrid engine can be purchased on all models still. It used to be the base engine but they’ve changed it to the optional engine. So I’ve gotta zonk you on that mistake. Great video though as usual!!
2023
@@BarryObaminable what did you mean by 2023? Hybrid was available on all trims then as well. Only thing that changed between then and 2024, engine wise, was which engine is the base one.
@@indysaab It means the guy is talking about a 2023. which did not have the jacked up hybrid price that the 2024 has.
@@BarryObaminable he had said the only way to get a hybrid was with the XL model. That’s never been the case on any year of the Maverick
@@indysaab fair enough. I was addressing the comment that 'poster is wrong because the cheapest engine isnt the hybrid'
since the maverick in the article and the title are about 2023, the hybrid was the cheapest
yeah its annoying sometimes. some blogger call the mid model the XLS heh
Does the auto headlights default to on as soon as you start the truck? Every review I’ve seen has it set to on.
Bought one the end of November. Best price for any hybrid vehicle, and bed is useful.
I made the agreement to my friend that this truck makes it an easy choice over any other compact sedan and even compact suvs. He actually even bought an xlt. Unfortunately now I can't say the same because of how much they've increased the price since it's debut.
You remind me of Deadpool! Super funny ! 😂 Subscribed !
Thanks for letting me share the laughs and the cars with you!
2:08 Sienna Cruz? That is kind of funny! Minivan with a truck bed. Sign me up!
Ford makes a good hybrid with the 2.5 I4 running on the Atkinson cycle. I own an Escape hybrid and very happy with it.
Hey Joe, speaking of trucks, when will the next TACO reviews be sir?
By this weekend! Stay tuned Chris!
@@RaitisRidesWohoo!
The steelies look good on this.
No cruise control though
the 23 base trim has cruise control. I have one@@Striker50_
My new job comes with one of these. Thanks because now I know what I’m getting. I will definitely be missing my Forte GT 😂
Nice Maverick I love how it looks
It is a simple clean design
@@RaitisRides Not as luxurious but it'll be a first truck.
Great vehicle at a great price! What is the wait time on an order?
Ford has raised the price of this thing like 3-4 times already? They can do better honestly. They will start to cut prices a bit more once other car makers put out their own little trucks like Toyota/Nissan/RAM.
Prices ain’t going down
They will when no ones willing to pay MSRP for these cars. If we didn't have covid happen and other car makers have other maverick competitors you'd bet your but that these mavericks would be selling for BELOW MSRP. Give it time. It will happen. Not anytime soon but it will happen once competitors come out with a small truck.@@ItsAlive111
Ford's customers now has pay for that new UAW contract.
Hybrid is available on xl, xlt, and lariat.
Sadly every dealer around me is adding 10k markup with no shame
"Bust cream all over the interior" 🤣
Wow. Glad this exists.
Nice Truck!
Great design- are wire harness’ still catching on fire ???
Great little hybrid for the $ 👍
Looks like a few bits off the Focus, and Maverick used to be in Australia as a rebadged Nissan.
Bon Jovi mode! I see what you did there!
Great review Joe, the Maverick is finally that affordable small truck we needed! 😉👍👍
Thank you!!
Just bought my 2023 Maverick Lariat Hybrid (special order) on Cactus Gray color. Absolutely in love with this vehicle. MSRP: 29500.
It looks adorable next to the F250’s
Is there any way to bypass the lights to Manual only? I do not need the lights to always come on opening doors or unlocking?
That is a great questionj!
does it have power mirrors?
This thing is so popular because people need trucks but don't have $75k to spend on one. If the F-150 started under $30k they wouldn't be able to keep them in stock either.
Is Joe going to review the 2024 4Runner TRD Pro?
Not only did Ford raise the price significantly for '24 without any additional added features over the '23, if you had an order for a '23 and Ford couldn't build it, you had to place another order for a '24 at the higher price. Ford said they will provide those customers an incentive to offset the cost, but it looks like that kickback goes to the dealer who can then decide if they will give the customer any of that cost reduction.
I thought that I might have problems getting the incentive but it worked out. Impressed with the Maverick, fits my needs a lot better.
@@stevethomas760 Thanks. I have one on order being built Jan. per Ford so hope you are right.
@@ericbryant796 I think Ford has it more together now than they did when I was going through the process. Hope you are at the helm late Feb/early March. None of my business but powertrain did you order?
@@stevethomas760 Hybrid.
@@ericbryant796 The way to go if you don't want AWD. I do think at some point Ford will offer an AWD hybrid.

Thanks for that great info!
Awesome color
Can't go wrong wit Oxford white!
@@RaitisRides no sir
Hey Joe, that stinger on the sharkfin is the AM/FM antenna element and it also does satellite radio. A standard sharkfin antenna (without the stinger) is only for satellite radio and then they have to put an antenna in the windshield or some other type AM/FM antenna. -------- Great advice, never pay someone to be your friend, when the money is scarce they will vanish also !
Thanks for your thoughts on this one.
Its a nice lowrider truck, however if I bought one I would have to get the eco boost one with awd. Great review my good sir..
I agree Freddie. The hybrid is fine for city driving but not as capable for adventures. My content from Park City shows my turbo AWD climbing snow covered streets where FWD vehicles just spin in place.
10:59 it’s so small compared to the F150 that it looks like it’s far far away 😅, even when it’s right it front if you 😂
$21,700 before the dealer charges you a market adjustment. Raceway Ford is SoCal charges $7500 market adjustment on Ford Mavericks, and that's even BEFORE the bs addons the dealer throws in there.
I would LOVE to buy this truck right now, and I mean right now, but they are damn near impossible to find at MSRP and this trim/price.
Love my 22 hybrid xlt
is the all wheel drive also hybrid?
I understand about the pricepoint Joe, but the rims just look a little too cheap for me. There's a difference between cheap looking and simple looking.
Lada Niva 1970's, identical 😅
It is fun because I think it is a love/hate thing with steelies.
I think steelies looking great on this platform.
It’s a utilitarian aesthetic, polar opposite of the bro-dozer poser aesthetic.
@@RaitisRides But there are better looking steelies that they could have used.
love those wheels
Yes of course Joe and I'm buy a hybrid truck.
Maybe I could talk my wife into getting one of these… she’s a fan of low cost and good mileage. Me on the other hand just traded in my taco for a 4Runner!
To clarify, hybrid is available across the board for all trim levels. Also, it’s not a conventional CVT, it’s a eCVT. Way different do some research if you doubt me. It’s a great truck. I get 40mpg on the highway doing 80 or 45-50 on a freeway cruising at 65-70
A stick shift and rollup windows option should have shaved another 2k. Lets make it nostalgic 🤙
I was thinking of getting one in 2022 when I first heard of them, and then I found out they didn't get much better MPG than my RAM 3.6 with 8-speed tranny- 25 MPG with the towing package. For the same MPG I'd rather have more truck (height, space, bed...). The hybrid is nice, and 40 MPG would be better, might get one when the RAM dies. Hopefully the gouging ends soon.
yes it does...must buy
wow, that's a good price for a truck that offers a lot of usability and style
No push button start I like it.
1. "Pure truck"? This is based on Escape's C2 platform just like Santa Cruz was based on Tucson.
2. No, you can get hybrid in Lariat. It's only limited to FWD, no AWD hybrid. Rumor was the hybrid AWD will come 2025.
Nice truck
I am so glad that you approve!
Handsome looking truck.
I had seen these but never really paid attention until this review. Seems like a perfect little truck for someone like me.
I have an M340i and the wife drives the Palisade. Yeah I don't trust her in my car... so i wanted a versatile cheap vehicle i can use and not care my kids scuffing the back of my seats leaving crumbs everywhere, and having to drive in crappy weather after i just washed my car.
Plus I have been wanting a truck, but no way in hell I wanted to spend $$$$$ on these ridiculous truck prices right now.
You said footlong meatball sub and two bottles of Yoohoo like you know me! lmao!
That is awesome!
To me..that would be great for a work truck .plus that's a good deal for a brand new model...I can't see paying 70 to 90 thousand dollars for a vichle...I would definitely buy that..
We use ours for doing estimates around town. 45mpg and we can toss a ladder in the bed with some tools and it’s perfect.
Here in California unless you order one you will pay 5-10K over MSRP I left $500 signed contract deposit at MSRP on my 2024 Ford Maverick that is currently in production.
11:42 I doubt that Walker will sell for that price 💰
Give Tracy a call proto!
I would take one of these over any compact sedan.
Put the camera back
Ya but at what price point ... Most XL models around my area avg $29 to 33K and thats for the XL base ... which is Really strip down Base ... I wound up picking up another 23 altima S just cause of the fit and finish and pricing ... #anyNormalFordDealersAround ...
I think compact sedans like the civic are more fun to drive
@@yes8032 In certain way. Most of the compact and some of the mid size sedans were meant for fuel consumption, that’s why we have so many cvt transmissions.
I agree! In fact I bought one of each I show on my videos
Dealers are still trying crazy mark ups but resale value is also good.
Bigger back seats than a Tacoma. I've owned both
You are right about that Rob!
I'm not really a Ford guy(except mustangs) but I'm digging the Maverick.
I like this.
"Piece out, girl scout" 🤣
The Hermosillo plant that makes the Bronco Sport and the Maverick is running 3 shifts; full blast. The problem for the Maverick is that they are making 120k Bronco Sports per year, and only 80k mavericks... Since Ford is forcing dealers to purchase 1 Bronco Sport for every Bronco the dealer wants, that is how they are ramming the Bronco Sports down the dealers' throats. So don't expect full production volume on the Maverick until the Bronco cools down, and then the dealers won't purchasing so many Bronco Sports.
The Maverick used to be a phenomenal deal, but they added about $5k to the price, so it is not the bargain it was, but still a very good value.
Ford may be stuffed with papershuffling middle managers, but one they do know how to do is extract as much money as they can from their dealer network. Dealers at this point are an impediment. Why should the mfr have to strong arm their salespeople? Because they not owned by the mfr.
The biggest innovation of Tesla has nothing to with making cars, but rather, how they are sold. GM's Saturn division was a great step forward, with set pricing, no negotiation. People loved it. But then GM killed off Saturn. So sad.
I am hoping to see a hybrid Bronco Sport, but alas not happening in 2024, so will have to wait for 2025. I want something to hold a bicycle, bad is a bit too easy to steal anything, and the Tonneau covers cost like $3k.
Have the eaxact same model getting 52 MPG.....use the controls inside to drive in sport mode and not with traction ..traction OFF. The MPG is over the top, the bed is great ..a little small inside but we adapted,
Get one.
That is so fantastic to hear!
this is basically a boxy sedan w a big trunk
