- FIRST DRIVE: the EV9 is here and Kia is trying to have a re-run of the Telluride success. On the outside you will discover styling VERY similar to the concept, 21in wheels and new Ivory Silver paint. On the inside you will be greeted by a 2-tone interior, (2) 12.3in screens and a very spacious cabin. Powering this EV9 are (2) electric motors 379HP. Is the 2024 Kia EV9 GT the BEST new midsize SUV to BUY?

KIA EV9= Futuristic Telluride with a charge ⚡️
I like the way you put that

A car finally passes the rear windshield wiper test.
I think I’m gonna open a nice bottle of wine tonight ! Lol
Now we are talking !
White wine with Twinkies!
@@mavfan1you are freaking hilarious
dang that third row room looks great. really like how evs are utilizing that flat floor/no transmission tunnel bump.
The benefits of a BEV for sure
It’s funny I seen a billboard of this car and when I get home and this video pop up. I believe that’s a sign this is my next car.
It was meant to be
Joe hitting every important point and not missing a detail
That’s how I like to do it!
@@RaitisRides but you did miss the storage compartment under the tray that comes out of the center console. Who knows what kind of confectionery you would have mentioned there. :eyeroll:
Also, pretty sure there are 5 levels of regen breaking, not 3... but i could be wrong on that.
@@mdribblecastle he did talk about that storage area in the chicago auto show review
The gloss black in front and over the wheel wells will not agree well after highway miles, bugs and gravel hit it. Scratched and faded after a short period of time.
I just bought a Kia forte and I'm not in the market for any EVs whatsoever, but these videos are so entertaining. I just love to watch. Kudos to Joe for making these fun.
I appreciate you taking the time to say that and thank you for the great support!
Wow, what a great looking EV SUV. Thanks for the very detailed review!
I drive the EV6. Same range. Great drive and speed. Biggest thing I suggest is to wait for used versions of this car. The EV6 plummeted and I imagine this will too as it’s super expensive. Cool looking SUV
Steven...GREAT JOB on the camera work. I enjoy watching the videos, the amount of information during the reviews, and the camera shots that a lot of other reviewers just miss!! Anyway thanks to both of you for the really enjoyable, informative videos.
That is so fantastic of you to say!
Always love your reviews joe!
That means the world
Whats up Joe Lori & Steve...thanks tor all the hard work y'all do ..when I last made a comment I was trying to decide what to get... leaning on the Stinger v6..but I been watching n listening 🎧 to exgaust videos for the Stinger to upgrade the exhaust if i get one ..but so far I havent been liking any .. but this Ev9 suv & the performance package 'Stang gt is on my list and I wouldn't mess with the factory exhaust on the 'Stang because that thing sounds like a beast the way it is. I did like the telluride but couldn't deal with the 1 sided exhaust setup & the company's that make n sell the quad bumper/diffuser I guess stopped so... But anyways Haply Holidays and thanks again for y'all's hard work..
Thank you my friend! Happy Holidays to you and yours!
For $77k, the total range (270) is a big disappointment. That being said, this EV9 is stunning.
I agree with you
Yeah but I had a Taycan 4S and the EPA range was 204 or something silly. I always got about 270 from it. So the EPA is basically dogwater. I had a Tesla Model 3 Performance which also constantly went UNDER it's EPA range. Either way, who wants to drive for 250 miles without stopping to stretch/bathroom break anyway? If you have a daily commute of 250+ miles, you need a new home.
Some reviewers have gotten more than 300 miles out the gt line version. Kia underrates their evs.
That 270 miles is under the most optimal conditions, which never happens in the real world.. & in this segment, these family hauling SUVs are meant to road trip. I’m sorry, but for that purpose, this is well behind the ICE based competition
@@brandonc9706 don't try to kiss ass your EV obsession. Everyone knows that 270 miles range is ridiculous and it takes forever to charge if you exhaust it below 10%. Try to use your brain and account for AC or heat running and all the electric components in the car, it won't get even close to 270 miles range.
I always love you reviews, Joe!
Hi Joe, great review as usual ! Love the way you go over the details. Very nice vehicle, I did visit the dealer in September and sat in one, lots of room inside. I really would have hoped the range would have been over 300 miles. I was also hoping GM or Ford would have come out with an affordable 3 row EV by now, but that didn't happen. Thanks again !
Between this and a Volvo? I’d rather a Volvo Ex90.
It was cause of you that I got my 2024 Kia sportage x-pro prestige & I love it. I was even thinking of the EV6 later on.
Great review, awesome looking vehicle😀
To open the hood, you do not need to pull out any cover. There is a button on the left side of the steering wheel. Press it twice to open the hood. Covered handle is for the emergency only.
I was coming here to say that. Couldn't have been more obvious
Thank you for this awesome review, Joe.
Continuing to love your content Joe! Quick question....what's that watch you got on wrist?
Appreciate the detailed review, Joe!
Thank you gentleman camera work/views were great as well. I am just about sold on one.
I am so impressed with how quick the infotainment software is! The button press is almost immediate. Way quicker than Mercedes or BMW.
So funny that he says this a mid sized SUV. In my city you can not park this car. Nice car and great reviews like always!
I think you have the best vehicles review style. Great authentic energy like you’re just an average guy who really likes vehicles. Makes it easy to relate to your reviews.
Hi there thanks for reviewing this EV this looks amazing. What is the range for the single motor RWD
That is such a handsome vehicle. It's futuristic but not over the top. Super clean lines...love the blacked out aero wheels. Kia is knocking out home run after home run... Could definitely see myself in one of these as the charging networks builds out..
Will be able to use Tesla chargers in 2025. That combined with every other charging network there is really no excuse to not own an EV unless you live in BFE North or South Dakota.
@@angryGTS That's interesting..thanks for sharing this. Yes, makes an EV much more compelling now..
Another awesome video Raiti. I got one in black , which complements the grossy black accents!
Awesome Review cool to see the GT line Trim grow!
Great review, awesome looking vehicle, and it's nice to see more EV's that aren't a Tesla. But $77k wow that's a lot, like crazy expensive.
Pricing on many cars today is way out of control.
EV9 starts at $55k
@Testarossa2013 you get a buggy for that price..
❤for you Steve! And great work joe on the review🎉!
Nice suv, but how’s the quality compare to Honda or Toyota?
Amazing review Joe.
I had a feeling you would like this .
I like the interior design.
Congrats on the hellcat!
I was late to the show last night.
Thanks Tom! I can’t wait to share it with you
Very impressive!! Excellent review!
270 mi range is more than enough for the most with a caveat. If you can’t charge at home, EV is not for you.
$77K is lots of money but at the was me time, there isn’t a thing like this in the market!!
Excellent Kia!!!!
Man that's a shame, the EV9 looks so nice, and has all the features and tech one would want from a 3-row SUV. But the low battery range and the high cost just kill it off for me. I guess battery tech is just not quite there yet.
It is ultra pricey
EPA range. I hope that helps. It basically means nothing.
Not hugging trees! Very nice!
Kia is doing the best out of all the manufacturers out there! I’d buy this over the hideous Mercedes EQ models.
😩❤️❤️❤️ we bought our telluride in February of 2022. Definitely have to wait for me to graduate school for this baby lol
From the beautiful door panels to the rest of the phenomenally executed interior, there isn't a single thing that I don't like about this vehicle, it feels special, space high-tech modern design, but not overstated, very tastefully done, I have no remarks, I'd buy it without any second thoughts.
His Hyndai comment!! Was Great!! 😂😊
Joe you have best reviews on the tube
That is so awesome of you to say Alan
Yes of course Joe & I'm planned to buy one.
I can see you in this one for sure!
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the video looking forward to seeing this mid sized sport utility vehicle, here in Canada kia headquarters was under investigation from the cbc having to do with issues with the factory in both the US and in South Korea
Thank you for letting me share it with you Stephen and for sharing that insight!
How would you compare this to the Rivian R1S? (outside of pricing difference)
To be honest. This price is ridiculous. I understand the competition, but for a 1st generation EV9, this is way too expensive. It feels inflated prematurely.
Most pricing for new vehicles is ridiculous.
Any reason why EV9 in the stateside doesn't have the massaging seats in the 2nd row?
Great seating room!
So very true!
Looks futuristic and cool. Want :)
It definitely gets attention when you are driving down the road
hi, joe which one you prefer 2024 Kia EV9 or blazer EV. thanks price is almost the same.
Well said, as usual!
Thank you so much
Fantastic ! 🌟
I’m glad you like this one
Beautiful Beautiful
I’m so glad that you like this one!
Do you prefer this or the hyndai Santa fe as in the new one
🤩🤩 Can't wait for a Kia EV10 TRUCK!
It’s nice. Been waiting for this but the range for me is a big deal breaker. I was hoping range would be at least more than 300 miles. The 77k price is close to a Rivian R1S which I think is much better suv overall.
BMW iX,Volvo EX90 ,Hummer EV(Sut/SUV) & Polestar 3 are my favourite EV designs.
Great live last night, Joe and Lori.
I’m so glad that you could join us!
Midsize! I saw one the other day, it was HUGE.
Hopefully they make an EV9 gt because 500+ hp in a kia 3 row would be sick!
Lol. Not the only one in Florida. They have one available here in Ocala. Hopefully, will her to test drive it this weekend.
Beautiful
This is how spacious I expected the new Lexus GX 550 to be
Yeah a BEV can create more space onsude
I’ll take this over a Lexus anytime!!
oh wow I’m EARLY early. What do you think of Kias new design language Raiti? 5 words max.
Love to see you bouncing around the Tampa area’s dealerships. you’re a local celebrity.
Thanks Robert! The design is smart modern.
This is the GT package, the basemodel starts at 54,999! That's pretty inexpensive for a true three row SUV. The range wouldn't bother me as I wouldn't take a EV cross country. This is a real looker 👀
It’s nice but I prefer Mitsu’s dynamic shield in the front with the chrome.
77k plus taxes and fees and suddenly you're looking at a nearly 85k Kia...Yikes!!!😳🤔
I think this is a great SUV. I would go with the Land trim for a little less money but still plenty of features and just a little more range. But, even 270 miles is plenty. To get more out of it would require a bigger battery and then too high of a price. You got it wrong on how to open the hood, though. That was the manual release in case there’s no power. There’s a button to the left of the steering wheel that you push to open it electronically or on the key fob.
Super nice
I wish you talked about the charging speed. Kia says 0-80% in 24 mins on fast chargers but I was hoping to see what you have to say about it.
I loved these and was waiting for one, but when i found out the GT-line was in 75k+ range i decided to go get a EV6 Gt. So at this point ill wait for a possible Stinger Performance EV hopefully in 3-4yrs
Everyone complaining about the 77k....which is the loaded model and nicer then most that are 10k+ like the Model X.
This might be my first electric vehicle. KIA/ Hyundai are killing it lately.
77K wow 😮 btw great work as always 👍
I said the same thing
I'm fine with the range. I'm not trying to pay the price. But another great review. Edit: I'm changing my mind as the days go by... Hmm, i wonder if Genesis has a version of this coming???
Love it ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love it Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
It’s great to have you hear!
Love the look of the EV9 but they really missed the mark with the pricing considering the range this thing gets. Holding out on EVs for Toyota, or some other company, to figure things out with their solid state batteries so the mileage is better. Surprised more of these companies aren't trying to push more PHEVs while they figure this stuff out with batteries, infrastructure, and whatnot. I'll be getting the new Santa Fe as my next vehicle and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll have better EV options by the time I'm done with that SUV
Pricing is what it is bro, welcome to 2024, look at the cyber truck pricing, don’t mention Toyota lol they aren’t competing with Kia right now, they drop a Corolla gr for 50 k 😂😂
Actually the base model starts at 54,999. This is the GT package....
Very nice.
This is literally a telluride but electric and i love it!!
I think that it might even be nicer on the inside
I didn't even notice that until I read this comment!
....sarcasm

Im looking forward to Lokey Kia receiving some 2024 Sorentos!
Look Cool
$77,000?!!! I was having trouble digesting that MSRP!!!
They won’t be able to sell these at the $77k price point
Trust me I feel you pain!
It is going to be interesting to see how it pans out with sales Anthony!@@anthonymitchell9337
This is the LOADED price, not the base price. Quite misleading actually!
$77000 is the top of the line. It can't get any more expensive than this. Now considering that, this is still very inexpensive compared to the other brains top of the lines.
You said mpg is the car fully loaded electric?
The all-electric EV9 makes for charged up days. ⚡
Cool!!!!!!!!!😎👍🙌👍🙌
I need to review this too 😍 learning from Joe
Thanks for saying that.
@RaitisRides Been a fan for long time Joe watching your videos and learning for reviews. You one of the best of em all

We gotta see Raiti review the Cybertruck!
I’m sure it will happen sooner rather than later
How does the horn sound? Featuristic? I never hear the horn on reviews...My Honda 2024 sounds weak.😮
With that price point i see discounts coming im sure the i got to have it crowd will scoop em up but after that idk
It will be interesting to see how it all pans out
I do like this. ❤. Just hope nothing goes wrong with the battery. If the ioniq 5 means anything, the battery costs more than the car.
I’m so glad to hear!
The miles you get with evs is ridiculous at this point full charge should be like 700 miles If you really want people to due the switch
We are just not there technology wise
Wonder if they have the gas only or hybrid option in that model?
No, 100% electric
I really wish that the charging infrastructure wasn't garbage in my state. I drive a lot in rural areas where the infrastructure really doesn't exist so this car wouldn't work for me. If the chargers were there, this would be perfect but our main family car has to be able to do day trip duty and this one just can't get to and from some of the places we get to without adding huge amounts of time to our drive. Perhaps in five years the infrastructure will be there. If so this is my dream car.The deals are really good on these now. Most local dealers selling them for 10k off.
All vehicles need to have screens as big as teslas and the ability to stream on them. It’s a game changer if your charging your car or waiting in you car for work, camping, etc
Why is that?
@@RaitisRides Cuz if your sitting in your car like I do waiting to start my next shift at work it would be much more convenient to have that as opposed to trying to mount a little iphone up on AC knobs in front of you to watch something lol
Someone napping at the charging station won’t end well, Joe 😂
Great review as always but the EV9 kinda reminds me of a bigger version of the Kia soul
You are not the first to say that!
Your hairline is a lexus spindle grill...was your nickname shark fin in school.
When you r coming to Mississippi.
Amazing vehicle. It would be interesting to take a person from the early 2000s, driving a Kia, and time travel to the future to see this review of a Kia. They would be blown away.
Also, good to see more modern, forward thinking vehicles on the channel. Great review, Joe!
Stay tuned for more!
That would be cool. They’ve made so many strides.
If this is mid size , what is large size ?
Did I miss the part showing how to open the frunk?
Reserved one even though I have my reservations about the range, the lack of rebate, and the upcoming universal connector change. For our family, EV9 makes much more sense than an EV6, which we currently have.
You could get a a much nicer vehicle, a real luxury vehicle, if you're spending over $80K after taxes. You'd really have to be a KIA fan to spend that much dinero for one of their vehicles.
Take a look at the similar priced Rivian R1S, bigger vehicle, faster, more luxurious and no "Market adjustment" fees from Kia.
