I just did a 2000km road trip in this car (GT Line), driving from the Swedish southwest up north and back. It's a fantastic vehicle indeed. Excellent charging performance (flat curve, if you pre-heat accordingly you'll see 160-180kW+ speeds even at 15% and 75-80% state of charge. Very reassuring to drive, very comfortable and as you say LOADS of tech - with most of it being focused on actual everyday usability rather than just cool gimmicks to show off to your nerdy friends (aka Mercedes EQ models). I love that i can just charge my cameras and drones while driving. Also, the paus mode (aka "camping mode") works perfectly. The car pulled only 10% battery running overnight as a campervan. Cheers!
As someone with a lot of siblings, the feature to switch from charging to charging + data transfer is CRIMINALLY underrated. “No mom, I don’t want my phone connect to the cars system rn. Just needed to charge.” That’s a feature that came from someone who’s had that experience, props to KIA

I have a KIA carnival 2022 with 70k miles on it already and let me tell you how much of an awesome car it has been. zero engine problems, everything works still and smoothly, all the electronics work never had to change anything on it from the dealer or bring it to fix something specific. ZERO PROBLEMS. KIA most definitely deserves this praise because it has truly reinvented itself.
Kia is currently the master at bringing good looking cars at an affordable price. Like sure, they could get rid of some plastic, but at what cost? Almost every car they put out right now matches or undercuts their competetors while looking better. The EV9 doesn't just look good, it's freaking sexy imo

I have been a BMW owner for almost 30 years. I wanted a fast electric car so I ordered an i4 M50. After nearly a year I got tired of waiting. I went into a Kia dealership a year ago and saw an EV6 GT on the floor. Got in it, got a great feeling from it, took it for a test drive and bought it. I decided to forget about the label and try something different - I’m so glad I did. The car has been great…well built, practical, all the bells and whistles, better range than advertised and neck-snapping acceleration. I’m a Kia fanboy now.
Been driving my EV9 GT for almost 2 months now, over 1100 miles. I cannot say enough with how happy my family is. It really feels luxury, it is almost stupid how fast it is, and it does feel like they thought of everything. With the heavy doors (vs minivan sliding doors), my 5 year old took a couple trips to get used to using them, but now she does it on her own. My biggest 2 annoyances so far are that the rear windshield wiper doesn't do the whole rear window well and the massage seat is only for the driver (my kids love the heated captains chairs though). And if your biggest problem is a lack of massage seats for the passengers, that tells you how amazing the car is.
Ok seriously Thank You! I have a slight obsession with this car and have watched probably 37 of these reveal videos since they began. You find some of the most unique things to pinpoint about a car which is something I really love about your videos. So just wanted to say thanks for doing what you do!
I have actually used this feature on my EV6 for it's intended purpose: pulling the car out of a spot when some jerk parked too close. It's not exactly a necessary feature, but I do like it.
My wife and I bought one in the same trim he is reviewing (the blue one) last month. I was really resistant given their crap reputation, but she wanted to test drive before we went with the Rivian. I was really floored by how good it is. Still am - I keep stealing it from her. He doesn’t mention it, but the 0-60 is like 4.6 seconds. It moves ok for 6k lbs. Oh and those 2nd row seats have foot rests, like a Lay-Z-Boy.
Second this. Test drove yesterday - "relentlessly practical" is a great way to explain it. Still too expensive for my family currently, but compared to the competition, it's worth every penny.
It gets worse, car dealer tried to charge us 3 grand to replace the not quite working touchscreen in a 7 year old car... They are just taking the piss these days. This Kia looks very nice, impressive design and functionality!

Got my EV6 few months ago and im really impressed. My family owned KIA cars since 2002 and with every generation this car maker makes leaps forward in quality of their products and their new EVs are a testament to that.

Kia is one of the best companies I've seen these past years. They completely changed their reputation, and their vehicles are genuinely amazing now! We got a Sportage and that car is just... Amazing! The dashboard, the huge 12.5in screen is so responsive which you don't see in many high end cars like the mercedes gla which is like 20% more expensive. They're so comfy, so spacious, so good when you drive them in any mode! Genuinely love this car and this brand now
I work in quality at the West Point, GA plant that builds the EV9. We haven't started building it in full production yet. Just running trials now. It is a good looking vehicle.
My sister and brother in law build those Kia’s here in Georgia. Have a 23 Sorento very nice car. Looking at the EV9 appreciate you recognizing their hard work Marquez. Taking the factory tour this Thursday.
I love my 2023 Sportage Hybrid. The remote control forward and backward is cool, it's mostly just a fun trick to show family members or coworkers but there's nothing I can complain about with it.
Been seriously looking at this car because they are so much nicer than the Rav4 on the interior... How is your overall average MPG with the Sportage Hybrid? I had read that some owners were dissapointed with the numbers as it wasn't exactly as advertised. Cheers!
sliding doors are the only minivan feature that is missing. The sliding door access for getting larger things in and out of the side is the only thing missing from it at this point. Would love to see the swivel seats again (had those in a full size van back in the 90's as a kid and loved it, had a table that could lock in too).
Sliding doors are also super convenient in tight parking spots. It's also missing the low-floor removable seats which some van models had which let you transform your minivan into more of an actual van and load incredible amounts of crap in. Swivel seats were also nice for accessibililty, especially for transporting older people.
No... you can't take all the seats out (or fold into the floor) and have all the flat room in the back... that's actually the main reason that this thing IS NOT COMPARABLE to a minivan! I don't know why he keeps saying it. It's just you're average full size 3 row SUV
Completely agree with your comments. I asked myself the same questions about how much would I spend on a KIA, especially when I bought my spouse the EV6. Then the EV9, comes out and I really didn’t think twice… the value is just sick. You just feel like you’re driving something so much more grand. Great vid.
I desire a Minivan! They were my childhood and huge HUGE money saver on gas! Perfect for when you pack half your house on a road trip across the border!
I was going to say this. I don't understand the minivan hate. They are the sweet spot of comfort, carrying capacity, and fuel efficiency. Also, sliding doors are great.
@@jarrellidk Minivans are usually much more efficient that trucks or SUVs that can carry similar amounts of people and stuff. Compared to a VW Golf? No. Compared to a Silverado? Yes
Well done video and exemplary explanation of all of the tremendous features found in this absolutely mind-blowing vehicle! I drove the GT last week and it's on the top of my list of "must have" vehicles. Everything was thought of in this EV design. Driving it is a religious experience! Thanks for doing such a good job with this video!
Looks great...Love these types of cars. I drive a pathfinder and it just has so much flexibility with having lots of hauling space for people, or stuff if you put the seats down. Very practical and comfortable. Would look at getting one of these.
Nice overview BTW: Phone projection nav cancels on board nav BUT there is a precondition button so it’s available while using your favorite phone based nav or after you drop the vehicle connection service in years to come. 👍🏼 18:58
Excellent review! We recently bought an EV9 Land trim with the same ocean blue paint and we LOVE it! Awesome for the family, drives great, plenty of helpful features, and most all of the benefits of a minivan like you said while definitely being cooler, haha. :)
To truly be a minivan sleeper, it needs a sliding door! My 5-year-old opens car doors like he's bursting into a saloon in the wild west. Anyone parked next to us is in danger.
Thanks so much for this video I was in Busan, South Korea back in the fall and saw many Kia and Hyundai EVs driving around the city.I like the style of the EV9 and from your review and others I have read I think this will be a very good value for someone who has kids to transport around. My daughter just bought a hybrid Siena 2024 minivan she would have been smart to look at this vehicle but she is not an EV fan like me she has driven both Teslas that I have owned .She is not a car or tech person like I am.I appreciate the discussion of the tech in this vehicle because I have been wondering about it most reviewers just talk about the way it drives not so much the technology.
Saw one of those parked at a Costco last week and actually took a picture of it to send to some friends. It's a very nice, subtle yet somehow aggressive looking, family vehicle. I appreciate them putting the effort into the design and aesthetic over the typical Tesla they all look the exact same for the last 10 years, is it a 2014 or a 2024 it's anybody's guess, styling.
That was just the quick yet thorough review I was looking for, and since my car needs to pull things, remember this one is capable of pulling as I recall 1,5tons, and amazing leap forward. Also, though I don't like suv style, your label minivan is really interesting.
FYI, the only modes that keeps AWD active all the time are Sport and Snow modes. Eco and Normal modes will decouple the front motor so the vehicle is only RWD once cruising. In those modes, the front wheels only kick in when power is needed on acceleration, and when leaving from a stop.
I have a Kia K5 and I would definitely get that, I think it has everything and then some. The looks are also great, it's essentially a Telluride electric.
My last 3 cars have been KIA's. I've driven a Telluride since 2020. 2years ago I put a down payment for a R1S - Back in August 2023 I started hearing about a KIA EV based loosely on the Telluride platform called the EV9, But was still set on the Rivian R1S,. Rivian was suppose to roll off the assembly line by 2023... but was taking longer and longer. Started hearing more about the EV9 fall of 2023. Took back my deposit for my R1S. They were taking too long to get my configuration off the assembly line. 3 weeks ago I bought my EV9 GT and loving it. Glad you're letting more folks know about KIA. as Hancock would say... "Nice Job".
As a minivan driver, this aint it. Minivans have a flat floor from front to back, seats that fold into the floor (or remove altogether) to allow a 4'x8' sheet of plywood or drywall to lay flat with the rear gate closed, sliding doors that allow for a bigger opening without needing so much clearance between the car next to you, and they still have more 3rd row legroom AND storage room behind the 3rd row. Also, the floor height is lower (better) so they: are easier to get people and big items in and out of, allow for taller items to fit and people to stand more upright when moving around, and it lowers the cg to noticably improve handling and driving characteristics. Say what you will about the look, but people are fooling themselves when they pick a 3 row SUV and think it has similar utility as a minivan.
Love your videos. One thing to add when you're reviewing cars would be the warranty. Like, comparing this to a Rivian, how do the warranties compare? With cars being so tech-dependent, not having to worry about replacing/fixing things in the future is a pretty big deal.
I love this. I own a Kia Sportage 2017 and it’s still more equipped than many other vehicles in the price range like all 4 heated seats and you can lean the back seats to almost laying position plus you have the WiFi etc something I’ve rarely seen before. I would def look into KIA again for my next SUV.
Love your reviews. Down to earth, no nonsense, practical. Thank you sir. Perhaps Kia is nimble enough to avoid the legacy decimation we're about to witness.
I love the second row captain's chair option. That was my biggest problem with the R1S: You had to pull a seat forward in order to get a kid into the third row. By definition, the person who'd be comfortable in the way back was too small to do that themselves. This looks perfect for a family of 5 or 6.
EV9 is great! In Norway atleast you can get the second row swivel seats, but then you have to get the manual adjustments for the second row, sacrificing the electric adjustment. They cost the same also so it's pick and choose.
Kia re-invented themselves a long time ago. It's interesting how many people still have a certain feeling of cheap/low quality from Kia. I wonder why this is!? The real change noticeably happened when Peter Schreyer left Audi (known for his designs of the Audi TT) and went to Kia around 2007 timeframe. Ever since then Kia's have been great- not only aesthetically, but quality. I owned a 2012 Sorento and had it for 10+ years just over 100K miles and the car was still in fantastic shape before selling it. Exciting to see them get into the EV game and be real contenders.
I drove kia soul 8 years no problems very comfortable, my wife has a 2013 Elantra still runs great, I have ionic 5 and it's amazing....im a big fan of Korean cars. great video
I have a R1S and think it has significantly more cargo space, the frunk is almost triple of that and that’s is huge to me. Also you did talk about cameras, does the EV9 have the camera system all around and the ability to record? What about security system? I love the Rivians ability to be a multi tool and go off road with immense amount of ground clearance to low with the air suspension (we use it all the time) as well as kneeling when we get out of the car, i love the ability to not have to have a key, no start button it’s just on, and the pet mode and gear guard, there’s quite a bit you didn’t mention if your really comparing to those models that are 10-15k more… but good info!
I like minivans because the sliding door openings are a lot bigger- it makes placing a toddler into a baby seat a lot easier. Their heads could bump the opening, don’t ask me why! Mini vans also sit lower so kids and get in easier. More vertical space too. On long trips everyone appreciates having some space
I've had a top-trim Telluride for over 3 years now. With Napa leather seats, a suede headliner, heated/cooled front seats & captains chairs (a feature which some cars that cost double don't have), adaptive cruise control, and tons of the EV9s features shown in this vid, I often feel like I bought a Volvo or Range Rover for $49,000. Yes, there's plastic and faux materials across the cabin, but nothing I touch ever feels cheap, and the highest touch items often actually have aluminum trim to keep the feel premium. Everything has weight and tightness to it, regardless of whether it's plastic or not. Kia isn't the brand it used to be, and hasn't been for almost half a decade now. People discounting cars like the EV9 just because it has a Kia badge need to get with the times and realize they're missing out on what's probably the best value in cars on the market.
Kia and Hyundai are making amazing cars right now. My 2023 Sportage hybrid was awesome. The software was super responsive. I liked having the weather in my car. Nice and easy to review upcoming weather while waiting for your green light.
Our family is using a Tesla Model 3 (2018) as the daily commuter and KIA Sedona (2015) as the family vehicle, so I am in the market of upgrading that Sedona to an EV Mini-Van or equivalent. I am waiting for the VW ID Buzz to become available in the US unless something else comes along sooner at right price and features (I need 7-8 passengers).
1. Man, you really dissed the Kia brand. Lol. They are a leader in SUVs, a leader in design, and a leader in legacy-brand EVs. They've come a long way. 2. It has everything a minivan has --- minus sliding doors. 3. I'd say it is good, not surprisingly. Kia is killing it in SUVs and EVs. I'm also really looking forward to the EV5 and EV3 SUVs.
As a 2023 Kia Soul EV driver here in Canada, having traded in my 2015 Kia Soul ICE car, there's NOTHING wrong with Kia. I love the Soul EV, I know it's not sold in the U.S. which makes it even more awesome but it's affordable and fully electric and gets me 450km in range (330km range in winter), more than enough for my needs. Also having weather forecast in the car's navigation is helpful when deciding whether or not to pay for a car wash or wait until there's multiple days of dry weather before dropping almost $20 on a car wash. And since most places in Canada require hands-free with cellphones in the car, having that app on the car's infotainment screen is very helpful.
Second row seats look comfortable, but as a person who has 3 kids I would prefer three standard seats in second row. The trunk space with third row up is impressive, but I would prefer it to be a little bit smaller, if that would make third row more usable (now it is not). Update: I see, that in Europe second row seats can be turned to face the back seats as well. And I just found out that there IS a 7-seater option when you're configuring the car (btw, in my country - Poland - price ranges are starting at 82k USD and can be maxed to 97k USD 😱). What's quite interesting, it is cheaper than 6-seater. Generally, an interesting car - but the price is just insane. On the other hand, Tesla Model Y probably feels much cheaper and lacks so many controls that you have here (not mentioning the HUD, which is a fantastic thing and it works really well in KIAs).
I have a 2022 Telluride and I really like it. The EV9 looks alot like a Telly and I'd buy one for my next vehicle but will hold out a couple more years until better battery options are available for a longer range. 270 mile range is more like 135 in Minnesota winters.
Another great review. I am not even buying a car right now, just an MKBHD fan, but it’s very insightful on the EV development. I’ve seen many drawers, buttons, switches and generally extras in a car brake after not so long time of use however. You might argue that it’s got everything, but that everything might not last for the future. I wonder if it’s actually build well on the inside (outside if the plastic or not aspect, just the mechanisms and all).
As a father of 4 kids there is one thing you are forgetting when you keep saying minivan; sliding doors. The ability to press a button and have the doors slide open automatically, in very tight parking spots is a godsend. No worries about kids bashing the doors on the car next to us. Also the trunk in the ev9 is just ok. In my Sienna I can fit multiple huge strollers and other stuff in all at the same time. Looking forwards to the VW electric bus.
Interesting to see that the estimated range increased when you went to ECO mode - good to see that it takes account of the anticipated power consumption.
That Hollyland mic sounds really, really good. Had that on my wishlist for a while now and this video finally convinced me to buy. Oh the Kia also seems to be nice 😅
Its missing something that will forever keep it from being a minivan, sliding side doors. That is the #1 feature of my minivan that I would never give up.
Great detailed video. Yes, I'd choose this over the Rivian. It looks more futuristic. I'd make the 2nd row a bench seat, for dropping down and making the back fully flat to place a mattress in for camping.
I'm seriously considering this one. It has presence, all the features etc. The only thing lacking is the leather finishing. They should bring out a luxury back that you can replace all the plastic into leather and more high-end buttons. If they do that, I'm game.
The Kia and Hyundai group have come so far in the past 5 years producing these rather unexpectedly awesome vehicles, especially in their EV division.
The Asians' are definitely coming along.
Genesis is super underrated too (ik it's Hyundai/Kia too). Their designs are awesome
Well the combustion ones aren’t their forte so maybe this will help them get past mechanical woes
Do they finally have key transponders yet so the kia boys can't steal them?

The dashboard, the huge 12.5in screen is so responsive which you don't see in many high end cars like the mercedes gla which is like 20% more expensive. They're so comfy, so spacious, so good when you drive them in any mode!
Genuinely love this car and this brand now
Same here I'm all in for Kia and Hyundai. Currently on a Genesis G70 and considering the EV6 when I make the jump to EV. 👍

Would love to see the swivel seats again (had those in a full size van back in the 90's as a kid and loved it, had a table that could lock in too).
this is what I was thinking too. It's not a minivan without the sliding doors preventing the kids from slamming them open into neighboring cars 😅
Sliding doors are also super convenient in tight parking spots. It's also missing the low-floor removable seats which some van models had which let you transform your minivan into more of an actual van and load incredible amounts of crap in.
Swivel seats were also nice for accessibililty, especially for transporting older people.
@@BlairdBlairdDon't need to worry about tight parking spots when you can do this 2:59
No... you can't take all the seats out (or fold into the floor) and have all the flat room in the back... that's actually the main reason that this thing IS NOT COMPARABLE to a minivan! I don't know why he keeps saying it. It's just you're average full size 3 row SUV
also missing the cargo space, this is a little more than half what a Dodge Caravan offers.
I love these so much that I'm gonna get one sometime this year. The Ocean Blue was a bit too much at first, but it's growing on me.
I wish they were all great on gas, my 01 sienna gets 16mpg on average lol
Useful if you have more than three kids. Otherwise you can just throw a roof cargo box on for the extra storage.
In what world is a mini van a money saver on gas lol?
I was going to say this. I don't understand the minivan hate. They are the sweet spot of comfort, carrying capacity, and fuel efficiency. Also, sliding doors are great.
@@jarrellidk Minivans are usually much more efficient that trucks or SUVs that can carry similar amounts of people and stuff. Compared to a VW Golf? No. Compared to a Silverado? Yes
I'm on my third KIA, bloody good value for money - and 7 years of warranty. If you put that on your product, you know it holds up.
Excellent review. I'm seriously thinking of buying one! Answered all of my questions.
.
just so many great practical features, and physical controls are great to see
My father worked for Kia for a couple of decades and I greatly appreciate all your great reviews about the brand :)
Love the fact we are continuing to see more options in the EV space to choose from ❤
Nice overview BTW: Phone projection nav cancels on board nav BUT there is a precondition button so it’s available while using your favorite phone based nav or after you drop the vehicle connection service in years to come. 👍🏼 18:58
The tech, software, and functionality is perfecft. KIA is killing it
Not surprised. They know what they're up against. The competition is so fierce. Good going Kia

You do outstanding work, describing and paying attention to little details. I’m new to your channel, but have subscribed. Great work!
11:24 gotta watch out for those cobra chickens
That was just the quick yet thorough review I was looking for, and since my car needs to pull things, remember this one is capable of pulling as I recall 1,5tons, and amazing leap forward.
Also, though I don't like suv style, your label minivan is really interesting.
I’m just in wow knowing I’ve watch you when it was less than 1mil subs on your main channel just really impress with your hustle. 👏
Seems like the designers did a real good job on this 👍
Sliding door is what I love minivan the most.
FYI, the only modes that keeps AWD active all the time are Sport and Snow modes. Eco and Normal modes will decouple the front motor so the vehicle is only RWD once cruising. In those modes, the front wheels only kick in when power is needed on acceleration, and when leaving from a stop.
What a good looking design, the wheels go so well with the frame, beautiful 3 design aesthetic.
1:29 i'm not that into cars, but what's about the KIA symbol/Logo?
Light! Wind! Land! Fire! No, it’s GT!
I have a Kia K5 and I would definitely get that, I think it has everything and then some. The looks are also great, it's essentially a Telluride electric.
Always tight content, and well delivered, as usual.
"Nice Job".
Have you tried charging it on a roadtrip?
Love our GT-Line. Really great family car and fun to drive.
This car is amazing. Got to play with it in person a few months ago. Definitely looking to purchase this as our next car.
Love your reviews. Down to earth, no nonsense, practical. Thank you sir. Perhaps Kia is nimble enough to avoid the legacy decimation we're about to witness.
That front storage is perfect for stowing charging cables and other items which you might need easy access to on a journey when the trunk is full.
🙏🏾 Thanks for your review. I’m picking up my EV9 GT Line in Ice Green tomorrow 😊
As a car review fan, this is one of the best I have seen. SUBSCRIBED!!
That moving the car with the remote feature is genius. No more trying to enter the car from cramped car spaces!
It always amazes me whenever I see a new Kia or Hyundai in person, they're gorgeous now!
Great practical review. Well done!
Weather app being in the car is super helpful. It should be integrated into more apps, honestly. I wish Calendar and maps had weather information.
Great car! Good job Kia! Ridiculous how many features are in it. Thank you for the review!
I wonder if it’s actually build well on the inside (outside if the plastic or not aspect, just the mechanisms and all).
i went to a show of it, in greece, and the seats did swivel, it was so cool
As a father of 4 kids there is one thing you are forgetting when you keep saying minivan; sliding doors. The ability to press a button and have the doors slide open automatically, in very tight parking spots is a godsend. No worries about kids bashing the doors on the car next to us. Also the trunk in the ev9 is just ok. In my Sienna I can fit multiple huge strollers and other stuff in all at the same time. Looking forwards to the VW electric bus.
I've driven one. They are awesome, and look amazing
Interesting to see that the estimated range increased when you went to ECO mode - good to see that it takes account of the anticipated power consumption.
Minivans have always been at the top of my desired vehicles. They are just so comfortable and useful.
Love your car reviews. What's missing is the cost of maintenance. Tells what a replacement battery would cost for example.
Another great review Marques!
I had this vehicle in the EU for an expo and can say that the swivel seats also come in the EU
EV9 looks surreal when you see it rolling down the streets, regardless of the color but especially that blue!
The way he is switching views and hands with the phone to record is impressive.
Great detailed video. Yes, I'd choose this over the Rivian. It looks more futuristic. I'd make the 2nd row a bench seat, for dropping down and making the back fully flat to place a mattress in for camping.
KIA - "the power to surprise" the old slogan fits now better than ever 🙂
I drive a 2005 Toyota Yaris and still watched this video. Hope is a great thing
Great vid. Keep em coming! Don’t forget about the Volvo EX90 . Definitely a competitor
Marques: These seats have headrests like a Herman Miller office chair.
Herman Miller: What is a headrest?
excellent choice of music, Mat Zo!!
I hope it sells well. I will be in the market for a six seater EV in a few years, and I want as many options as possible when the time comes!
The day I first saw a Kia Stinger I totally felt I have to have one someday
I'm seriously considering this one. It has presence, all the features etc. The only thing lacking is the leather finishing. They should bring out a luxury back that you can replace all the plastic into leather and more high-end buttons. If they do that, I'm game.
