It does feel like I am in the room with you; I found myself 'looking out for' the UPS man. Thank you for every word, every expressed or implied thought. Fabulous Amy, those look great on you. I'm not a bigger lady, but I'm one with an eating disorder, that's not comfortable in my body, I've a underactive thyroid. Dungerees for me, even at 55yrs of age, are the one item of clothing that I love to wear. I want some in green courdroy, but there sold out everywhere, so I've resigned myself to the fact that I may have to try and make some. You've certainly given me some ideas as to how these should be made and what to think of. And dyeing some fabric is a fabulous idea. Thankyou xx🤔💕

    What a great make!
    FYI, for a great linen pair, I just used Joann’s Hopsack Linen blend in the color “Potting Soil” and it is great stuff- plenty of body, easy to sew (and flat fell) the drape and feel of linen, but a lot fewer creases due to the rayon. I have the black too and plan to make another pair next winter. But the rusty brown color is perfection!

    Another option to add elastic would be to make the strap or part of the strap (back few inches) like a hair scrunchie (elastic encased in extra fabric length). This would probably only work on lighter fabric options. Your overalls looked fantastic.

    This is beautiful !!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’ m looking at this video again....... could you make these overalls ( I call them odoralls for some reason.... not that they stink 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️) reversible ?? I think that would be wonderful .....roll up the hem and there’s a different color or pattern..... !! I’ve found out that if I go up one size in the back when cutting out the waist that it gives me enough “ room” that I don’t have the plumbers crack when I squat !! Lol It will look odd because the back of the pants rise up a quarter ,to half inch higher than the front but fits so much better !

  • @roniholm8878
    @roniholm8878 Před 3 lety

    I love your honesty about being fat. I'm fat, too. I also make most of my clothes. I would definitely try using elastic in that back casing. It would be much easier than the ties. AND, if it didn't work, you just take it out and make the ties!!

    So informative. Thanks so much. Can you dye the elastic to match the overalls?

    • @fatsquirrelfibers
      @fatsquirrelfibers  Před 3 lety

      Theoretically yes? Wide elastics are typically synthetics, and I’ve never died synthetic fibers, so I’m not familiar with the process materials. It would be rad if you.l could just throw it in the dye pot with your fabric, but, dang. (Also, sending hugs!)

  • @blackbirdsycamoreyarn6110

    You could leave your casing open at the hip edge instead of the center back. I also was thinking elastic tho, or at least the covered part elastic and the outside tails fabric.

    I have been missing you, lady! Love my Amy time. Those overalls are too stinking cute on you; make them
    in all your fave colors. I am not a sewist; I have sewn doll clothes, thinking the elastic at the side would work.
    I don't think it would look bad at all, as a matter of fact, I think it will look like it is supposed to be there. Like
    the elastic on a shoe. While you are at it you might as well slap some elastic in the back casing.
