Hey you! I have been a long time follower and am a proud owner of that fantastic first bag! You have brought laughter, relaxation, joy and heartfelt moments to my life over the years. You have increased my knowledge in knitting, cooking and of course apple picking :)
    Thank you for everything!

Best origin story I’ve heard in quite a while. I’m especially grateful there wasn’t a Stan Lee cameo! Because you share so much of yourself, I think of you often. When my little tree gets three apples, I think of you. When I see the leaky spot in my ceiling I think of you. When I am touching gorgeous rust colored yarn, and when I play a board game with my kids- I think of you. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Amy Beth, you may not have monitized your you tube, but you have lots of good vibes being sent to you on a regular basis. I wish you lived in Colorado. Hugs

I’m not fortunate enough to own one of your bags yet. I don’t purchase many project bags in leu of coveting my limited funds for yarn. I do own a skein of your hand dyed yarn that’s one of my precious possessions in my stash I haven’t found a project worthy of knitting it up yet. I’ve watched you on and off, (off only when podcast watching time is meager), for years and was privileged to meet you in person once. Your beautiful personality is so shiny and captivating and though life isn’t always happy, you always make me happy by doing nothing but talking and laughing. Keep up the great work brightening any corner of the universe you touch. 😘

Hi Amy Beth, I am 70
(although I am 32 forever in my mind :) As long as I can remember I
wanted to live a certain lifestyle. My family was amused and had no idea where
I came from, so I had no one to teach me and I turned to books. I was 10 and asked the school librarian for a book that would teach me to knit. She must have been a knitter
because she recommended that I start with a little kid (recommended for 5-year old’s)
how to knit book. At first, I was offended and said I wasn't a baby but she told me
when I did all the projects and showed her my progress, she would give me another book!
My father bought my first needles and 1 skein of yarn with the proviso that I make him a pair of slippers. By the end of fifth grade I had worked through 4 books and I was on my way.

I find it interesting that I too taught myself to knit while at university in the mid 1960s, probably from a book. My first project was a lovely soft blue cardigan with eyelets (I think, some kind of design) as an overall pattern. I made it for my mother for Christmas. When she looked at it she had a very puzzled expression and asked what stitch I'd used. I thought it was a stocking stitch...knit/purl. Nope, apparently not. She didn't know exactly what I'd done so it took me a long time (waaaaay before internet or even good books on knitting) to figure out that I'd done exactly what you did...I'd twisted all my knit stitches. But you know what? It was a beautiful sweater. Wish I had it all these years later.
