    completely different conditions making this a useless comparison.

      Thanks the UK for you, we tried to make things as fair as we could but its impossible to plan for these conditions or do 1000 miles in a day and then go back to film with the same weather conditions, thanks for checking out the video!

      +Turbo Autos did you not consider bedding in the EBC brakes first then test both stock and EBC on same day by swapping them over?

    • @TurboautosCoUk
      @TurboautosCoUk  Před 8 lety +9

      we did indeed, but unfortunately we were restricted by how long we could spend filming at the aerodrome along with trying to align the timings with the unit we were borrowing to fit the brakes, unfortunately there was too many things out of our control to make this a 100% fair test, we did try though to make sure the results were as accurate as they could be.

      Samuel Charlesworth you would also have to have 2 sets of rotors and swap them over as the whole point of bedding in a pad is to mate it to a specific rotor by leaving a film on it.

    How did you ensure that the driver doesn't stop too early or too late? I believe the EBC red are great pads but weather and driver brake timing would vary.

    seems like in the first day was more humidity on the street... just sayin'..

    • @TurboautosCoUk
      @TurboautosCoUk  Před 8 lety +3

      That first day the runway was damp and drying. We tried to make sure that we used the dry side in each test to try give consistent results and a good comparison :)

      Turbo Autos did you warm up the yellow stuff pads first? i found they dont perform that well unless you have them warm.

    • @TurboautosCoUk
      @TurboautosCoUk  Před 7 lety

      We drove to the airfield, the car had been sat for a good 20-30 mins as we checked in and then we waited a further 5-10 mins to get onto the runway. I would imagine they were sort of warm but not at normal operating temperature when we started each test

    Impressive. I presume all other variables were the same, tyres, track temperature etc. Also reminds me of how bleak and cold the UK weather is!

    • @TurboautosCoUk
      @TurboautosCoUk  Před 8 lety

      We thought so too! Tyres / pressures were kept the same but we were unable to monitor the runway temperature but i can tell you it was equally as cold both days!

    I am looking into getting a set of these soon but am not sure which rotors you used... you say USR Sport rotors so I assume that's the USR slotted rotors from EBC and not the GD Sport rotors... I am really looking for information as to which rotor type is better between the two, but EBC does not make a USR Sport rotor, only a GD Sport rotor which is dimpled and slotted or a USR slotted rotor. I definitely want the yellowstuff compound though.

    never gonna please everyone.. if you were to break the pads in, come back and take them off to test stock pads people would say because they were removed they would need to be reset. only way to do this test perfectly would be indoor climate controlled area. i give ya props for trying

    Look at their hair and weather at the beginning. Then after bedding in after 1000 miles and coming back...the weather and hair is spot on the same. 😂

    • @TurboautosCoUk
      @TurboautosCoUk  Před 6 lety

      That is purely because at the first visit we lost the original intro for the video... So we re-filmed it when we were back a second time. The brakes were definitely bedded in for a couple of months and over 1000 miles before the comparison was done :)

  • @siliquaesid703

    OK, conditions are different and I would expect to see the driver STANDING on the pedal, I'm talking FULL ABS engagement and maybe try that at 70MPH, and a few heavy braking attempts before hand to get some heat into the system THEN lets see how these pads and discs handle some serious heat. There is NOTHING worse that barrelling into a corner, stabbing the brakes and... NOTHING.

    • @TurboautosCoUk
      @TurboautosCoUk  Před 7 lety +2

      Braking to the point of ABS being active is NOT the fastest way to stop as when the wheels are allowed to rotate more, the brakes are not stopping the car (I have been karting since the age of 8 so know this first hand). Is also why race drivers try to never let the brakes lock up even with ABS systems as it is not the most efficient way to stop. There were some practice runs done before each day of testing and the conditions were not overly different. The first day (although damp) we were using the dry half of the runway on a warmer, overcast day compared to the second which was far colder but bone dry. The brakes fitted now across 4 different cars have all worked great but get eaten up around a track which is why EBC would recommend Bluestuff pads for track days. Thanks for watching

      True.
      Threshold braking is the way to stop the car.
      Right at the limit of slip, you can hear it and feel it in your butt.
      My ABS only activates if im being a yob on wet grass...
      So, would you recomend the yellows for a weekend and evening toy 2017 WRX that gets driven like a tarmac rally car?
      Ive had the stocks heat up and fade on twisty decents, and i dont want to spend the coin on a full brembro setup.

    @welshmaniacs16 Před 6 lety +6

    This is a useless comparisson because you should really warm them up first to see if any of them fade away or not

    • @TurboautosCoUk
      @TurboautosCoUk  Před 6 lety +1

      We had done 2-3 test runs to frame the shot and the car was driven 20 miles to get to the location to immediately start filming. The brakes were warm before starting for both sets of brakes :)
