  • This is my DIY tricks I want to share with you, there is no need to buy expensive brushes and you don't need the professional skills. Of course, there is no need for masking tape!!! All you have to do is one $5 tool from #ShurLine.
    [2020 Updated] About the 2 colors on the wall:
    The base color is from Benjamin Moore, it's called Grant Beige (HC-83)
    The accent deep blue color is from Sherwin Williams, it's called Gale Force (SW 7605)

    This retired pro used those to good effect. If you don’t go too far with a loaded edger you won’t get skips. With a high contrast finish you need a heavy coat. If your roller guy isn’t following the cutting immediately use the angled front edge in swipes to knock down the ridge that inevitably forms along the outer edge of the swath if carrying enough paint for good coverage.

    This product will work if you follow this video. There is one drawback with the product: the wheels do not allow for you to get the edger right up against the surface not to be painted (i.e. ceiling) to ensure coverage right up to that surface. There is a small gap of about 1/16" to 1/8". Manufacturer needs to allow for the wheels to be adjustable to allow the user to get as close as they want to the surface that you do not want to be painted.

    • @DIYable
      @DIYable  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you for your comments! Yes, it does work. Glad it helped. BTW, that is a very good suggestion to the manufacturer on adjustable wheel!!!!

    • @dsc-nr5zy
      @dsc-nr5zy Před 3 lety +1

      Do painters get up to the edge or are they also leaving a gap? My thought is they are leaving a minuscule straight line gap on ceilings, especially where the corners are not 90 degrees. I have textured ceilings and walls and you simply cannot get right to the edge without it looking horrible in spots where the texture is in the joint.

    I wanted to get the Accubrush but Home Depot only had this hand held Sure line. OK I watched the videos, painted on the paint onto the pad, went back and forth SLOWLY (and back and forth and back and forth)..... it worked ok but the time I took to put the paint on the pad with a brush, wipe off when paint got on the edges, go back and forth over those pesky "dry" areas that kept coming up...... I thought I may as well watch a couple expert videos and learn how to just do it with a brush. I think I'll skip these disposable extra-step things, that might be useful, cheap enough for the disposable mind-set, and just learn how to do it right with a brush I can use over and over, as long as I clean it well. But thank you.

    Applying the paint with a paint brush. Why didn’t I think of that myself? But he is completely mistaken in regard to speed. You do not have to move slowly at all. It’s mechanical. As long as you don’t overfill the pad it’s going to work with mechanical precision, regardless of how fast you move. That’s like saying you have to turn the pencil sharpener slowly to get good results. Whether you turn it fast or slow you get the same result.

    It's a shame, but I see that you're using the pads badly. Surely you do a good job, but with the pads you have the wrong technique. That said without taking anything away from your good work.
    Here's how to use the pads properly. Painting by making an inverted U. Let me explain.
    FOR A WALL ADJACENT TO A CEILING:
    1. Before going against the border, apply the pad on the wall far from the border, then slide it towards the border. It will make an inverted L..
    2. Glide the pad evenly with even pressure, you can go either way.
    3. To remove the pad, slide it down. This will complete the inverted U. Remove by sliding and not directly as you do, because it produces peaks!!!
    TO SOAK PAINT WITH PAINT:
    Just immerse the hairs and rub the pad on the edge of the tray, it removes the excess and evens out the paint on the pad.
    TO REMOVE EXCESS PAINT ON CASTERS:
    Before repeating steps 1 to 3, rub the small rollers on a wall to be painted. It's a good precaution, because sometimes they get dirty. Wipe this part of the wall.
    Repeat steps 1 to 3 carefully. I am able to paint a very far wall with pads that fit long sleeves!
    FOR CORNERS (junction of 2 walls and a ceiling):
    We have no choice but to use the brush, which is the only one going into the nooks and crannies.
    FOR ADJACENT WALLS PAINTED THE SAME COLOUR:
    Use a roller with one end "closed" completely hairy.
    Never again will I make borders with a brush, it's too long and risky.
